Eh. Just send it. Let the trees sort you out. Ash junipers (cedars) are softIt isn't the approach that get's me, it's the run out. It's a scree field with a few trees waiting to catch you.

That was the intentionI thought it was meant to be hucked by real men, not the type that stand there and look at it and come up with some excuse like me
But reality soon set in. Honestly if the approach was a bit faster and smoother the huck would be more achievable

Mostly posting this to get rid of the last picture. But this is Jelly Roll on Snow White. I had to restore it the other day. Some ass hat removed the rocks on the backside. That would be a painful OTB if you came over it expecting it to be there. Anyways. Keep an eye out if you use this feature.

@Morealice let's do thisHey First-Blood there’s some motivation for you.
I’m excited about racing, but I sure want to spectate the hell out of the tandem division.

For sureI have all my woodworking stuff out. I could try to fab something out and leave it stashed somewhere in there and see what you think of it.

I think it's an elm. But still. I know. My plan here was to armor in a way that kept the challenge. If people still dab then it needs to be re routed. I've been trying to come up with a reroute that would be just as challenging. This is one of the spots, where I enjoy the challenge, but the large wound on the oak in the right makes me sad. If it weren't so narrow already, I'd say armor the tree.
Edit to add: I'm not the one unblocking. I just wanted to make that clear.

That would be crazy. A coordinated effort?! Haha. I joke. But Yea man. Feel free to get that done. I have been hitting up others areas in my rare free moments. No one knows where the other trail steward is at. I think he is dead. How about getting a few people out there with a tool to move some rather large boulders into place that can't be easily moved by one or two people?

Ok reblock. I'll make a sign tonight and get out there in next few days. thanksSpeaking of blocking/unblocking, the cheater lines at this spot were cleared back out again, on both sides this time. I've reblocked this one twice now, but left it today because I wasn't sure I remembered all the places First-Blood said he modified today. I'm guessing this wasn't one of them, but thought I'd be safe. Just say the word and I'll move all the stuff back next time I'm out there. If anyone's got any suggestions for a more permanent solution or a different approach, I'm all ears.

Is it possible...yes. will the county allow it. Not last time I pitched it. I have someone outside our crew and knowledgeable plugging away with a different approach to them on this matter as we type. And hopefully the will come around. Also the trail couldnt go all the way to the YMCA area. The space becomes very narrow and not worth the hassel. But it can easily get as far as the entrance to Rim. This would allow the entire trail system that lays in Wilco territory to be looped and ridden in various ways without ever touching the bcrt. Why the county would be against reduced mtb traffic on the bcrt is besides me. Especially since it's one of their biggest complaints is us crazy people on bikes going to fast and such.Is it possible for PicnicX to be extended all the way to 183A and then continue to YMCA?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I still think sight lines is the first step. I'm not alowed to build fence along bcrt. County does all that when needed and or requested. Rocks will get moved and so would wood. I'm not saying it's impossible just it would be a battle of people unblocking. And if we ask the county to build that fence then I have to talk to them. Don't make me do that. But seriously . Sight lines is the first option. If that is not good enough then we can go the other route.I think in this case at his junction this is case of give and take. We all agree it fun as hell. But the consequences are truly severe (see what i did there?) It is not hard to close.. Look at the fences put up along Picnic. There are no shortages or rocks\wood there also.
This is a give and take thing and as much as Id be seriously pissed to get hit there, I'd be twice as mad if someone innocent got nailed and hurt and we lose access somehow. Oh, and Id feel bad for them.

I'll look at improving site lines as option. This is definitely a line that just got rode in no work was done. But I like it and would hate to close it. It also would be a nightmare to try and close off.I noticed that very recently , it is rather new actually.
Approaching the bridge (headed on the path toward the Sports Park) you can go the traditional way , which is drop in to the right and then down the hill and then left under the bridge or right up to DD.
But if you choose from path the left side you can drop down fast and hard and cross the path and up the other side at the start of Picnic X. Crazy fun stuff.
I hate to be the fun governor here because that thing is fun as hell and so fast ,, but Smithy is right that is a bad thing waiting to happen. There is zero visibility for the biker coming down that thing and crossing the path at the bottom. I can count 4 spots that someone can get creamed there. I can only imagine at how screwed some kid or dog or jogger or another biker would get with some ass clown bombing down and across that thing oblivious to the fadct he or she is crossing a spot that has 4 trail directions crossing it.
A hiker or kid will surely never see the biker coming down that fast from that far down , it might be in our very best interest to block that before something bad happens.

***Officially Official Trail Change***
Went put yesterday with some people doing pay dirt. Noticed 2 issues that had to be addressed and made a fun alt line in Double Down. The alt line I got a pic of. The other 2 I forgot. I try and get back out to post up those. One issue was on a tight turn around some Oaks. The roots had become severely exposed and damage was ensuing. So I took out 2 trees and the line now swing around them slightly. The turn is still a little tight. But it was so tight that people were hammering up and breaking down on these roots. I liked the turn myself but we cant kill oaks for it. The 2nd one was a rock slab on a slight turn that stepped you up or down. The rock was out of place and the ground beneath it was a bit eroded. We placed a few rocks to make it stable. I understand it's not exactly the same. Maybe in the future I can get out with more time and put some real work into it.
The alt line seen in pics is also in double down. It isnt a dumb down alt line. Its actually harder I think but also flower and fun if you can hit it. I hope everyone enjoys it. It looks easier in pics so dont judge too hard.

All I care about is that I'm in your headI’ll embarrass myself with a strava attempt at this on my next ride, but it’s gonna be tough to wanna hammer as I will still have mulligan, picnic, deception, daves, ymca to ride after. ALL I will be thinking about is beating dumbass FirstBlood.

East to West is the norm. That's the way you went. But backwards is fun too

At this point there is nothing you alone can do. At best you can contribute to knocking me down a peg. Eventually I'll get knocked out of top 10 I imagine. Especially when race happens. This "ass munch" knocked me out of the top 10. I'm going to use every cheater line I know to return the favor [emoji6]: .

My turn.
So I got a rare last minute hour of free time today so I choose to give the Peddlers 4.0 a go. So I threw on my gear and grabbed a red bull (I would later regret this part).
Once at the park i decided i would unload some psi... ended up at 12 front and 15 rear. In retrospect I should have taken off other things like my full water bottle and tools. My bike is no XC machine. It's an enduro sled 29er with Double Down tire casings that currently weighs in at 36lbs with water bottle. I have a 2.5 Teravil Kenebrec upfront and a 2.3 Aggressor in back.
It was a great day and the park was packed so I wasnt to sure what I would encounter. I pedaled a quick warm up around the lake loop and headed into PP.
The conditions were rather dry today but overall not to shabby. Once I was a few hard turns in I realized that 15psi in the rear for me was not right. It was a bit squirrely in the sharper corners. I also made the choice heading in that I wasnt going to use my dropper as it takes away from efficiency IMO so that also turned out to be a factor I wasnt to used to. But I was overall feeling decent ...though I will say my legs were not ready to hammer yet. Fast forward to the west side and I have now dabbed several times in corners after some near wash outs and am now regretting that red bull as it tried coming up. Fast fwd again and I'm almost back to the east side and I pass by Ronan who is always mean muggin. I just blurted out .. IM HURTING! And I kinda was. That bike felt like a tank. Anyways up to this point I encountered no one on the trail. That is until 100 yds from the finish I came up on a father daughter ride and slowed to make a safe pass. All said and done I ended up with a respectable time of 15:30. I made some bad body posture errors once I got tired which was compounded by my to low for me pressure in the rear. I hope I can make another attempt and improve. That was quite the challenge that I didnt expect it to be. Thanks alot dad bod!

It's going to be quite a haul to get the large rocks from the parking area back to the Devil's Staircase. Just this week I've been strategizing that effort and it appears the only viable option is to use "boulder cradles" to accomplish the task. One or two will need to be fabricated unless someone happens to know of anyone that may have one that can be borrowed. Like maybe used for a home landscape project and stored in an attic?
I have one you can borrow. It's made of firehose. For manual carry just use 2 rock bars slid through the loops. We use it regularly so I cant loan it out for a long time. But willing to let it be used.

It's the new way since reroutes were made to help accommodate the race and not have a cross over line at Parmer

*** Officially Official Trail Change Notice***
Snaggle Rock seen in pic below was recently undone. We have dealt with this so many times in the past. It has been put back. In hopes of people leaving it alone we went ahead and made a B line around it. Not really looking for input on this if you disagree. Trust me I think people should sack up or walk as well. However this is in 1/4 Notch which is intended for beginner to intermediate riders. Now Double Down is another story it is for Advanced riders and a mandatory sack up . No go arounds will be made that dont already exist on potential dangerous spots. If you see them feel free to block those.
Thanks

I'm seriously tempted just because I know I wont he competitive right now in a normal class. I got Morealice lined up as a possibility. Just need to rent or find a bike. How many Tandem teams would be interested in racing the time trial? If we can get at least three teams to commit, I can put together pro/open tandem category but for trophies only at $60 total per team ($30 per rider instead of $40).

The key to it is timing like most any other feature. Too slow and you run risk of stalling. But as soon as you get up it just start pushing bars out because the rock isnt long enough to full get on then spot exit you just got trust that the roll out is there and just fineIt doesn't help that when you get to it you've just negotiated a gnarly rock garden and are stoked to still be pedaling and not walking. I've contemplated trying to ride it but it's like the dragon's balls at Pace Bend. If I had some people standing there watching and spotting me, I'd hit it and probably make it. Without that peer pressure and safety blanket, it's a risk that I'm generally not inclined to take.

I have used Huck Norris for 2 years. I love them. They are lightweight. Easy to install. Easy to shove in pack if you have a major issue with tire and need to tube. I dropped 5 psi in my rear tire and my cornering improved. I raced several seasons of enduros and could feel the moments that the tire at the reduced psi would hit to rim.... It never pinched my tire like it would always have done without them. Lots of people I know love the cush core. But install is a pita and if you have a major tire issue on trail and you need to tube, packing the cush core out is tough because it is so bulky. See pic for example.

You are right. I didn't look close enough at that. One of the lines IS OVER and should stay that wayIsn’t one of the lines there over the big rock? ... or the alternative wall ride?
Big rock is fun, I don’t think it should have branches on it. But If it needs to be for some reason, wall ride is fun too

Ha. Was that you I questioned on what you were doing. If so thanks for blocking that up. May need to do a more permanent block there too. I'm thinking big boulder.
