  1. Maybe you need to switch to a One Wheel? But I feel you man, Coming back to town from BVille seemed anti climatic for sure.

I had a one wheel for a few months. Very fun just not as fun as the ole two wheel machine by any accord . I also couldn't see myself using it as often as needed to make the

price tag worth it. It was alot fun running down to the liquor store on it though doing 15 mph [emoji2957]

  2. Should we change over this group to a dirt roadie thread? Asking since I can't ride right now has nothing to do with the above comments.

Jkjk i totally have gotten out of the desire to grind EVERY trail. When you go to parks across country or trail systems like they have in B ville it really makes you loose interest in the constant grind for minor pay offs.

  3. Where do y'all park for a night ride?

In[mention=165]GreenMTBrider[/mention] driveway....Not literally but basically. In the cul de sac of Dodge Cattle Dr by the East trail head of ¹/⁴ notch.

Another good option is on the street at the top of hall rd which is the name of the dirt double track that separates the west end of Double Down trail head and the start of 5.0 (R.I.P)

  4. Truth, And no gears
Haha. I'm not a mtb historian but I'm pretty sure our native ancestors still slammed the seat when doing things of this nature. But yea we def are spoiled now with the dropper invention, so much so I consider my bike OOS if the dropper ain't werkin

  5. Building a new bike for my 8yo for his birthday tomorrow. Just realized his old seatpost wont fit the new frame.
Does anyone have a spare 30.9 seatpost?

I also have seatpost. Not sure diameters. One if them is the thud buster. I can post them up soon one day

  6. For those familiar with the lines it might be easier to explain to new people now that the lines are numbered 1-5.  I was just there briefly this weekend so I couldn’t rate them in difficulty, but that certain could help.

Thank you to put up the signs and marked the official climbing trail to hopefully keep people off the main lines.
It's actually 1-6 but 6 isn't rideable yet. And 5 needs a ton of work. 4 is basically gonna be the beginner DH line. A new climb route all the way up is cut just needs some ground work and more signs. In future it will have more permanent blockades to help keep people on correct path without crossing over into wrong way traffic. For now it is just cut branches.

  7. I've only been to Snail once and got very confused on the best paths for practicing beginner / intermediate friendly features.  Care to elaborate?  Is there a "safe-ish" way down the feature lines that allows for bypassing the gnarly stuff, that still allows for hitting moderate features and keeps one off the big lines and out of the way of anyone that might be going full send?
To be honest...NO. there is no clear divided lines for beg , intermediate and advanced. Although some new stuff is under work (slowly) to make it more that way.
For now you just pick a line and have fun. Session what you want and be mindful of others that may be on the trail.

  8. While we're on the subject, anyone else seeing lots of guys walking their bikes UP the various Snail runs?  Weekends are the worst with people trying to session an individual feature.  No really close calls, but it sucks to have your run ruined because you have to slow down to avoid somebody blocking the trail.  I try to educate nicely, but they just keep doing it.
I'm good with people pushing back up to session. But that comes with a huge caveat of stay the f**k off the line.

  9. Normally, I would agree. However, the accessibility of the trail must be considered. If double down was on cat mtn or spider then yes, your expectations are 100% correct. However, a highly technical trail was placed smack dab in the middle of suburbia and the expectation that weekend warrior Joe is going to ever ride at a level of DD is a high bar. I know I'll never be able to ride often enough to make it through DD without walking most features (or most of the trail [emoji6] ) . I really don't enjoy spending the few hours I get a week to ride walking my bike so I avoid it and work on 1/4 notch because it's much closer to my skill level and I enjoy the challenge it gives me at the frequency that I am able to ride. This demographic is currently exploding in all neighborhoods immediately surrounding Brushy. This will never not be an issue on these trails. They aren't remote and they aren't hard to find.
Education will always be lagging behind the amazing work done by the builders. Instead, I would recommend sanctioned B lines that are sustainable and allow the A line a chance to be untouched by Samaritan Sam. Your only other choices are: endure the random rebuilds block access to the trail to only the best or shut it down.
I actually have changed my mindset in the last few years on this issue. I mostly agree with you. But for this specific trail I would argue that B lines on ¹/⁴ Notch would be ok in my book. But not on DD. DD is designated Advanced and therefore should be left as such for all the reason mentioned in other posts. But ¹/⁴ Notch is designated a beginner to intermediate trail and sanctioned B lines would be warranted in space permits and if the route was indeed a B line around a tech feature not just a slightly easier route. Most of Deception proper is getting harder as erosion makes once easy features more intermediate and hard features harder.

  10. Lol!!! The Trail Foundation... that’s riiiight. I forgot about that.
Your memory is right, 5-0 was open, were where working on the trail to Mike's Meadow and had already rough cut the trail back as well and started a 3rd line (saving the area below 5-0 for a later) - so there was bout 2 more miles of trail built that we had to block and reclaim beyond 5-0. I told him we were volunteers with the "trail foundation", LOL, and that he looked like he could use the trail [emoji6] for exercise.
At the rate were were going there would have been another 7-8 miles within 6 more months. Granted about 4 of that would have remained on the public land (above and beside Rim/Daves), the rest lost to the development. But we were accounting for that and building the trail in a way to easy connect where we knew the losses would occur.
Keep in mind that Peddlers started rogue as well... and it's CP, not Wilco, so the real question is how much MTB trail has Wilco allowed in that time - ZERO! Non of the SW Regional Park is sanctioned and they do not want it, block some of it, discourage using it. There told Josh and I that we could build on Williams Tract (what you all know as River Ranch County Park), but they are excluding MTBs.
Nothing like a good B line discussion to bring out two dudes the world of trail building and mtb riding thought to be long dead
