Video worked for me on my phone. Not on the computer.

I have not even tried this part of snail yet. I keep going to the right to the smaller drop. I would imagine that if I can do the smaller drop, this one wouldn't be any more difficult. I guess its just a mental thing.

No man, this one is WAY bigger.  I do the drops on the right line all the time, but this one is significantly bigger.  I dropped down the wood structure yesterday pretty gracefully, but sending the full drop is sicko!

My route the last few days has been YMCA, Snail, Rim, and DD out-and-back, trying to avoid the BCRT as much as possible. This evening I actually came across quite a few riders on DD.

That's my usual path too YMCA, Snail, Rim, DD, etc, but does anyone else also include the dock at the YMCA? Try it.PastedGraphic-1.png.e1b5eaca9b3c8b3ac3d3cbf0f38881d3.png

  3. I trail run as much as I ride, and I'm very conscious of any riders coming up behind me.  I tend to look back a lot because I'm a little self conscious.  I like to run with my AirPods in too, but usually only wear one in my right ear so I can hear when someone needs to pass on my left.  When I'm on my bike, I realize that it doesn't bother me at all to roll up on a trail runner.

  4. Hey, what qualifies a rider to be Cat 2 or Cat 3?  I rarely race and I'm in my mid 40's, but I ride a lot and have a 16:42 PR on PP (10/28/19).  I'm concerned that if I sign up for Cat 3 in this older category, I'll be constantly faced with having to pass someone.  Passing riders on PP is somewhat challenging, so I want to ensure I'm signing up for the right class.  Any suggestions?

My warm-up for D is climbing up from behind the YMCA and riding that bit of trail sitting between there and Snail. After finishing Snail I drop down into Dave's Ditch and take the sharp left up to Dave's Glitch / Rim. Once I finish Rim I take the long climb (relatively speaking) up to Up-And-Over and wind my way over to D. By then, I am sufficiently warmed up. Also though, if I've got a newbie tagging along, I'll know by then if I should take them onto D, just head over to Picnic / PP, or end the ride. 😆

I love PP but mostly only ride it on my way over to Candyland from D unless I'm showing it to newbs.

This is my normal route too, but I use it to warm up for a hot lap at PP.  I start on the back end of the Y, through those windy trails up top, drop Snail, up Dave's ditch (but all the way to the next uphill trail to Rim).  I take Rim until it ends, then go right up and around until I get to the entrance of D.  At that point, I decide if I'm going to PP.  If so, I head down the rocky road back to BCRT and get into those bottom trails along the creek so I can drop those 2 ledges.  I get back on BCRT, drop the bridge, I dig the bridge drop, then hit PP for 1 lap to see if I can beat my PR.  Then on my way back towards the Y, I usually go left at the "new" sidewalk to jump on the first half of Deception.

More wiping, less typing. I'm embarrassed I even got pulled back into this thread to survey the shit show once again. Annual Mag... wtf kind of stupid ass idea is that? At least when I lose my mind it's while playing drums or guitar and not on a public forum. Beside old people calling other old people old? Get the ban hammer mods. This guy is a community killer and traffic driver going the wrong way. Cheers to all you cool people still brave enough to visit this site, but one bad apple......Austinmountainbiking.com RIP if this guy is still allowed to post. He will be the only one left.

Total community killer.  It is not productive, and calling people old that many times should have consequences.

I can't see RA's posts, but I was sent the text.

Dude, when you showed up at mojo, then here, you were an asshole and got called out for it. No one is looking for brownie points, we just don't like jerks. You try to use my age against me, which is odd considering how many more activities I'm involved with, with people and orgs here, than you are. Calling people cowards, and judging them does not make you right.  Calling me an old man doesn't make you cool. Maybe learn to STFU at times, and just coexist? Funny how I'm the old man, but I raced the Banduro, I didn't see you there.

Haha, I was wondering what the history was here.  Thanks for a little insight!

  8. I rode last night and noticed a log was removed from the trail on Picnic.  It was that one where you split right at the Y in the trail and then there's 2 logs to hop before you cross the little dry creek.  One log has now been removed by a helpful novice.

I have been riding a set of 29 carbon Dirt wheels for 3-4 months, and I am a big fan already.  I am 195 lbs and I drop everything at Brushy often.  I love them.  I ride with alot more pressure than you guys though...30psi.
