Soooo Technically speaking. That line is a designated BLUE line with Black features. We had to designate it that way for the county to keep the drops. In no way is any of that line so much a Blue lime to really call it that
So any sort of tech feature on it added to the totality of it being a blue line and made in IN THEORY harder to ride as a precursor to getting on the ridge with the drops and IN THEORY making beginner riders not just happen to stroll up on some drops. Yes I know its REALISTIC impact is minimal... but that is the reasoning behind wanting to rebuild those features. And in my mind I'd like to REALLY make it a bit more technical but with flow.

I love Picnic for the drops, bump jumps, and the 2 spots you can ride through a tree. It's the one trail I will never not ride when I am at Brushy.

Nice photos.  Did make it out to RPR last year for the first time in a while, and some of the trails were quite confusing compared to everything I knew like the back of my hand previously.  Need to go out there with a group familiar with the current layout.

     ..Al

Yea this was my second time and it was so much more fun riding with someone who knows the place well. I missed out on so many fun trails the first time.

So as a B line rider, who enjoys 1/4 notch I decided to try DD about 3 weeks ago. There is so much un-rideable sections of DD (for me) and walk only stuff (for me) that I can't imagine getting to this section and trying to make that one thing easier for me. I don't understand the logic, it would be like drowning in the middle of the ocean and building a liferaft for my hand.

Seriously, if I hadn't seen 2 or 3 riders clearing some of the obstacles I wouldn't have believed it could be cleared.

It becomes easier the more you attempt it. I can consistently clear everything on double down except for 2 features. And I have cleared those 2 features a few times, but only at like a 20% success rate. A year ago I couldn’t even clear half the stuff on 1/4 notch. That side is cake now.

well played Chuck, I was wondering about the repetitiveness but figured it was magic carpentry tricks.

How pissed would FB be if he went through getting a sitter and hauled ass over there and it wasnt there?

    That is funny.

And this is where pranking trail builders was born.

  5. My guess is @chuckt saw the new wooden feature left of the jump and was asking about it. He didn't have a photo of it so he took an old photo and cloned the jump feature to the left where this new wooden feature is to help illustrate what he was talking about. And he's talking about the wooden feature in the photo I posted above.

🍿 I saw this the other day as well. There's also a new line being built to the far right of this stuff (with another drop)?

I had that on WTB rims and on Stan's rims. I think it is a sign of having fun. Sucks that it happened so soon typically I get ~4 years out of one.

Could have been from either an actual incident or just generally the way you ride. Was it just that one or are there several? Mine always coincided with my "strong side" on pedaling, I never do anything crazy enough to do that in one shot.

The photo shows the worst one, but I found 3 spots with hairline cracks. I do feel like I got my money's worth out of them.

  8. My rear wheel has cracks at 3 different spoke locations. WTB rim from an NX build bike. Bike is a little over 2 years old and I’ve never had the spokes tightened or wheels trued. I weigh 170lbs and running Cush core as well which makes me wonder how cheap these wheels are.

Anyone keep sending it until a wheel with these kind of cracks failed? I have a new wheel set coming Friday but went for a brushy ride anyways today and it seems to run fine. Hit double down and did the big picnic drop 2x. I took it “easy”. 😇

Beautiful ride tonight. Saw 2 bikers all night and that was before the sun set. Amazing considering the masses wanderingly clueless lately.

Also a message to the chick who was in your bra and panties back off 1/4 getting your pictures taken. Number 1.. thanks! Number 2 dont ask so surprised to see a biker ride by you. What the hell did you expect?

I guess there are "perks" to riding 1/4 notch during golden hour.

have the built the run-in to that drop a church yet?

Just a temporary one. I haven't hit that feature yet because I usually need to see someone else hit something before I try it. But I have done a few run ups and the run-in ramp isn't as bad as it looks.

No man, this one is WAY bigger.  I do the drops on the right line all the time, but this one is significantly bigger.  I dropped down the wood structure yesterday pretty gracefully, but sending the full drop is sicko!

Yup. There's a drop at Christchurch that's about half the size of the big snail one. I'd imagine that's the one to conquer and session before attempting the big snail one.

I try to get in a 20 plus on the days I have that kind of time. When the world opens I'll ride with you.

I was inclined to try to ride everything at brushy today thanks to you, but it started to get too wet by the time I was midway through 1/4 notch. I was able to finish 1/4, but based on all the slippage I didn’t feel good about hitting double down or rim loop. Still not sure I can do it all in one ride. Double down probably would have drained what I had left. 🙂

Those trails are closest to my house. I used to ride them often when I first moved here. Once I discovered Deception, Picnic and Snail I just lost interest. But I don't think I've ever ran across another rider on those trails. Few people walking on occasion, but that's about it.

My favorite route lately when I have the time is to Start at Redhorn with a coffee then ride Sub Ninja to the bcrt briefly then hitting Gumdrop(anklebitter) to Gnargasm and Caddyshack. Then.. bcrt across dam and to Peddlers Pass. Then over to Picnic and some form of Deception. Then Snail for a session. On way back I hit Rim Job and then Picnic drops and then finish with bcrt either back to Sub Ninja or just take Parmer to Redhorn for post ride libation.

I think I need to ride with people who can handle all that. I tend to get tired quicker when I ride solo for whatever reason. I guess I feel lazier when there's not someone else there to push me. 🙂

You dont like Gnargasm or Caddyshack?

If they were near the rest I’d probably hit them once in awhile to change things up. But I’d rather spend my time riding everything else and that’s pretty much my limit with stamina. I do think that rock roll into the curved wooden feature is neat.

New feature on Snail. Also improved drops run ups and widened dirt wall ride after dual drops. Go test. Needs a little ground work but very rideable as is. 803b53fe15ee231ff87167d8a459e8ce.jpg

I rode by it today. Looks fun! Landing looks a bit loose so I'm going to wait until I'm not riding solo.

Tomorrow DD and 1/4 will be good. I’d guess with 99.9% confidence they’re good now given how warm it’s been today.

I'm probably going to check out Deception and Picnic in a bit. Riding from home so if the the ground is too soft to ride I'll at least have gotten some kind of ride in.

Funny thing, it isn't THAT much bigger than the drop on Picnic-X, that I have hit on my hardtail (accidentally).

Seems way bigger to me. I hit the big picnic drop at least 3-4x a week. The new snail drop scares the crap out of me just looking at it.
