  1. I installed cushcore a few days ago. Got it from Jenson when they had the 20% off sale. So far I like how it feels. My bike doesn’t feel noticeably heavier or harder to pedal. I mainly wanted to try it out for the “performance” improvements it is supposed to have and it seems to deliver. Cornering feels a bit nicer and it feels like I have a bit more suspension travel on bigger drops. But I’ve only done one ride so far.

Install wasn’t terrible considering it was my first time installing. My 2.4 width tire was definitely easier than my 2.5. Should get easier the more I do it.

i prefer 25 in the rear, but kept getting pinch flats. i moved away from cushcore, because i found it impossible to remove the tires on the trail. so, in the unlikely event something does happen, you're pretty much screwed.

about 200lbs and tend to jump alot.

Does cushcore allow you to ride back to the trailhead on a flat?

So the park in PVille was purpose built for bikes and boards. It is a lot larger and way more spread out.
I was told it was due to the safety issues because it is a small area meant for skate boards and not designed to have bikes and boards

Makes sense. I guess I can just chance it and ride early weekday mornings while no one is there. I don’t have pegs or anything so nothing to damage the surface. Worst that can happen is someone tells me to leave.

  4. Anyone know the reason why bikes aren't allowed at the skate park? Most skate parks don't seem to ban bikes. Curious if it was always this way at Brushy Creek or was there an incident that caused this rule? I've rode around it on an early weekday morning when no one was around and it was a ton of fun. Now that I have a dirt jumper I'm more interested in riding skate parks as well.

  5. I road peddlers and picnic both ways on my new dirt jumper today. Coming from a full suspension bike, it was definitely interesting, but tons of fun. Was riding with my 9 year old so figured it would even out the gap a bit, but this bike is surprisingly capable. I was even able to maintain speed and pedal up all the climbs on picnic with little issue. Definitely will be my bike of choice when I ride with my kids.

Also took it to the bmx park in cedar park and had a ton of fun practicing jumps and the wall ride. Dirt jumpers are such an awesome complement to a full suspension bike. And it really makes me appreciate how easy it is to ride with full suspension.

  6. I’ve been running 800 bars for like 3-4 months now. Not because I’m a wanna be downhill racer, but I figured I’d see how they feel and can always cut them down if it doesn’t feel right. So far they have been good and the bike feels more stable. But I might cut down to 780 at some point. That will probably be the sweet spot for me. I can rode through mulligan with 800’s fairly quickly, except for 1-2 spots where I need to actively maneuver the bars around a few trees.

I ran across another section as I was just wondering around out there! Not sure exactly were it's at but ended up riding up it and at the top it was near a fire house and church. Big berms and jumps! Bigger than when you drop in at peddler.

Wait what? I need to know where this is. 😮

I rode last night and noticed a log was removed from the trail on Picnic.  It was that one where you split right at the Y in the trail and then there's 2 logs to hop before you cross the little dry creek.  One log has now been removed by a helpful novice.

I noticed this today as well and was pretty upset. I loved hopping that one. 😑

    Nice steed there.

Question, how have you tinkered with the new X2? I just got one, and between LSC/HSC and LSR/HSR I’m just trying to figure it all out.

Yea I started with the base recommended settings and then started making 2 click adjustments of one setting at a time as I rode. But ended up at a point where it feels good enough and I just ride.

With the advent of lighter full face helmets, I can totally understand someone using one on every ride. I mean, you wouldn't ride without a helmet at Walnut, right? Because you might crash, right? So is your face not terribly important to protect?

I see FF helmets at Brushy once in awhile and aside from looking hot during the summertime, I don't think ill of them in any way. Nothing wrong with safety gear to protect yourself. Just because you don't crash or get hurt doesn't mean someone else doesn't either. It's the people who ride with no helmets that bug me. I saw a family riding picnic all without helmets. Mom, Dad, and what looked like their 6-7 year old daughter. None of them had a helmet. 🤦‍♂️

  11. Kind of a weird injury situation for me. Sprained my ankle really bad playing basketball a few weeks ago (went for a rebound and landed on my foot at an angle and lucky nothing broke). It still hurts a lot when I turn my ankle in any direction and put pressure on it at the same time. I have to go down stairs slowly and getting in and out of my car can be a chore at times. But I have absolutely no pain when I ride my bike. I've been riding 3 days after the injury happened, hitting jumps and all and as long as I have a nice pedal platform I'm good. Friends find it weird that I can go shred on my bike, but then have a limp when I walk.

I saw one of the utility mules taking a bike out of the trail wonder of it's the same incident? I saw it by the picnic x entrance/bailout.

It was around 8:20-30am for me. Fire truck and paramedics were in the parking lot on the opposite side of the skate park near peddlers pass so I assumed it happened on that side.

  13. Dave’s Ditch was mostly dry today! At least the top part was. Rode it all for the first time and enjoyed the views and experience.

Also saw paramedics taking away another rider on Peddler’s pass this morning. Hopefully nothing serious.
