  1. I slowly rode peddlers just now and it’s almost ready. East side was good other than a soft spot or two near the rollers. West side had a section I walked as I would have created ruts had it rode through. I’ve left the chain up for now. The west side exit to parmer needs some debris and trash cleanup. I’ll be on the west side tomorrow (Saturday) at 9am for debris and trash clean up if anyone wants to join. There will be a more structured work day posted with more notice to weed wack and dig out the water catch areas.

  2. Hey guys,  my son crashed his hoverboard after it’s 4th use. We’ve tried replacement parts, but the plastic is broken in too many places and we can’t get a refund.

Would anyone have use for the motor, battery, or other components? It seems like such a waste to throw out the barely used parts.

Let me know if it would be of use for tinkering or other projects. Free to anyone that wants it.

Building Session this Saturday morning at 9:00am.

The County has approved a new section of trail that goes from the intersection of Rim and Bob Ross over to the Jeep Road. The plan for Saturday is to remove brush, trim trees, remove stumps, harvest rocks for a creek crossings, and start work on a major bench cut.

Meet at the intersection of Rim and Bob Ross at 9:00am. Bring gloves, water, rakes, saws, and pickaxes.

There is another build session this Sunday, December 12th at 930 for anyone that wants to join. It was posted on FB, but some of you don’t watch those groups.

I did a ride Friday and went right through this area. Came from the far east side of brushy on gravel bike, went north on 183 trail to Whitestone and back down and home.

I left just before 6am and was back a bit after 7am, so I was passing through there both times before 7am. Of course I don't have a camera/go pro, and don't recall anything out of the ordinary. I'd be happy to talk to Todd if it could be helpful though.

I’ll let him know. I believe he is on this forum, but maybe not as often as some. I’ve told him about your post in case he’d like to speak with you.

  5. I know a lot of you aren’t on Facebook, but there’s an important request from Todd (Endura Race) related to an attack at brushy creek on a trail runner.  He is looking for anyone that may have been running a GoPro on Friday, July 30 2021 from around 7am-7:55am in the Dave’s ditch, rim or 183a parking area.

If you don’t have Facebook and have any information I’ll connect you with him.

What ever happened to the log that made up the baby jump on peddlers?

I’m not sure which page it’s on, but I think the log came loose and the plan was to replace it with a wooden small drop. That might still be the plan?

Anyone know what the trail conditions are at Brushy? I feel like going for a ride...😏

Yesterday I had hopes of a ride Sunday afternoon....then I got at least 2 inches of rain today right along gumdrop and the hope is gone.

I also remembered today how much I dislike dodging people on the regional trail, but it was better than no ride.

Thanks to Gotdurt and Skyyhorn Gumdrop rolls perfectly now. Trail fairy nation. 🧚‍♀️ *poof*

Gonna need them chainsaws again on Caddyshack. I didn’t even ride the whole thing because it was mangled with big trees. Beautiful day though.

Can anyone with a chainsaw meet me on Gumdrop East and help me clear it?  It’s legit and the space is tight. It’s just a little ways in headed West from the East Olson Meadows entrance.  Thinking Wednesday morning?

I was trying to get out there today since it’s right behind my house, but ran out of time with family stuff. What time Wednesday morning were you thinking?

Today ARR Trail Stweards and crew were out at Brushy  assessing the damage and clearing the concrete Regional trail. We should have it cleared from the skate park to the ymca by the end of the weekend. I can't stress enough how bad the damage is, every trail is blocked with fallen trees and snapped branches. Based on what i saw its going to take weeks to clear all the trails.  We need your help more than ever before. The trails need to dry alot, but plan to come help next weekend.

This was a bunch of work, but glad to be part of the effort. However, with what I saw today, I agree the trails are going to take a lot of time and effort to clear.

I look forward to more work days to be able to get back on the bike.

@rugger it’s been a shit show, largely due to the increase in riders in the past year.

No IMO needed, the berms need serious work soon. I started by trying to address the bypasses (constant battle) and also worked on pulling in some of the lines that have widened significantly. Next step should be repairing drainage issues and the berms. l’ll shoot you a PM.

It’s great to see everyone working together on this, original trail builders and new trail stewards. It’s a huge undertaking both building and then maintaining, so both area very appreciated.

Keep up the great work....and let us know how to help.

Is there an aerial/drawing of the approved route that you can post?

I don’t have one yet, but the entrance going east to west will be where the current wooden gate is and the exit will be at the other wooden gate near rim loop entrance.

Currently both wooden gates are preventing entrance/exit.  Once the trail is finished the county will remove the barriers so there is access.

The biggest takeaway from Ronan’s post would be to use the new trail and not the existing connector which will be closed. He has done a good deal of negotiating and people using that old trail once it is closed will not help the cause. Of course most of the people on here would already respect that which I’m sure is why he directed the original post to the FB crowd.

  13. I know a bunch of people on here aren’t on Facebook, so to save Ronan some time of having to cross post, here is the update he just shared.  Any questions I might be able to answer based off of his updates from the Facebook post, otherwise I know he gets on here sometimes.

*BRUSHY CREEK UPDATE* Austin Ridge Riders has been working with Williamson County to replace the unsanctioned trail "Up and Over to Rim" with a new sanctioned trail slightly lower down the hill. The route has been finalized and work has already started. The trail should be ready in early January. The old route will be closed once the new one opens. We're going to need everyone's help in keeping the old trail closed and spreading the word about the new one.

Speaking of climbing trails,, We can still go up the culvert to the fence to the top?

I’ll let one of the builders answer for sure, but I think the new climbing trail was built in anticipation of the addition of the frontage road in the future. Not to say it will be in that area of your red line, but since there is potential of that line being impacted, they were thinking ahead.

To be honest...NO. there is no clear divided lines for beg , intermediate and advanced. Although some new stuff is under work (slowly) to make it more that way.
For now you just pick a line and have fun. Session what you want and be mindful of others that may be on the trail.

For those familiar with the lines it might be easier to explain to new people now that the lines are numbered 1-5.  I was just there briefly this weekend so I couldn’t rate them in difficulty, but that certain could help.

Thank you to put up the signs and marked the official climbing trail to hopefully keep people off the main lines.

Usually in situations like today with super dry and then heavy rain, the stuff in the sun will usually be okay pretty quickly. It's the stuff in the shade that still might take a while. It'll still dry up faster but there will probably still be wet and muddy spots in gullies and very shady areas. Just be smart and check your tires. If you see mud sticking, wait another day.

I rode to peddlers and checked the turn that stays in the sun all the time just before the rollers and it was still super soft. It was soft enough I attempted to flatten out the ruts someone left. I also hiked up rim and it was extremely soft since it’s in the shade, and there was running water at the first rock crossing.

1/4 notch and double down might dry quicker than what I checked, but I’d guess no for tomorrow morning, but maybe for the afternoon.

That thunderstorm woke me up this morning around 6am and it was pouring for quite some time, then still rained for a while after that.

I think I’m just going to go and do a regional trail ride and walk to see how the rain is being soaked up. I’ll report back, but it’ll be late today.

Yeah I've been moving a few as well on DD that have been much smaller than that but definitely enough to take out some spokes.

That looks to be peddlers pass, if so then you did the right thing by moving it.

edit: quoted the wrong response, was supposed to be to @No.Division post.
