however, until he drops the plans, it could still kind of happen. a small number of jackwagons might show up to "race" down HOL, clobbering a few old people and dogs in the process and suddenly bicycles are not allowed in BCGB. if he was not a minor, I'd recommend an ass-kicking. I think he'll learn.

edit: the event has been removed from BikeReg.

I just texted his mom also.

stay tuned maybe him getting his little ass whipped by his mama will end up on YouTube

I am confused. how does one host a downhill contest on a trail that is open to the public?

    EVERYONE -

so this is NOT HAPPENING and is NOT REAL or SANCTIONED by PARD.

do not sign up for this. I just kicked a 15 year old kid named Rhett off of Victory Racing Team for this and apparently his is ACTUALLY trying to make it happen.

so just to clear the air this is NOT associated with my company/team Victory Racing in any way whatsoever. but the kid pursuing this used to and no longer wears a VRT jersey

im glad I saw this. it will be handled appropriately

    **********

the story for anyone who would like to read it -

Rhett (formerly one of our grom 15yr old racers on VRT) messaged me with a big excited message around 2 weeks about how Victory Racing should have a DH race at the HOL, and that he had *already* gotten approval from PARD via email. I replied "that sounds amazing but I want to forward that email conversation with you and PARD before actually planning anything." days go by and I never received that email forward. I asked him where it was and then he reveals that he had merely sent a single email about it and assumed the response would be quick and likely an approval 🤣 (LMFAO GTFOH)

I explained its not gonna likely happen, end of conversation

then yesterday I see on his instagram story that he is gonna hold a bandit DH race at HOL 2/28. I promptly had a messenger conversation with him about why he can not and will not do this. and formally removed him from Victory Racing Team for a combination of reasons. This being a big one.

and now I log in here after not being on the boards for a long while and see this post very first thing. LOL

this stuff writes itself I swear haha

I’ve been riding for a while. 10+ years. When did a pair of bike shorts that have the same tech as years ago start costing $60, $80, $100 - without a liner. It’s a huge racket. I have a dividend at REI and i cant find even a house brand pair of shorts, with a liner, for less than $100. WTF!?! For jerseys i have gone to cheap fitness style jerseys that have all the same properties as cycling jerseys. As soon as cycling is part of the name, the price goes through the roof. How do we change this? What shorts do you use? Where are the deals?

welcome to aliexpress.com my friend. it will take about 3-4 weeks to get your stuff, but the money savings are phenomenal. im really hard on clothes and bikes alike. while I love nice name brand stuff, I will intentionally go cheap on stuff I know is going to get destroyed. and they also have some very impressive (you really cant tell the difference mostly) name-brand knockoffs (TLD, etc) shorts for like $17-$25 (vs $60-$130)

    hope that helps you bro

This should serve as a lesson in dealing with a Mountain Lion encounter. Dude came away unscathed, albeit with probably a bit of poo in his undershorts.

Gopro POV preview of stages 6, 7, 5, & 1 (4 of 8 ) of the 2020 Shred Eagle Enduro event presented by Victory Racing at Camp Eagle in RockSprings, TX on September 5th & 6th!

I had a super hard crash on stage 5 that ended my day. broke my helmet, smashed my iPhone, broke wolf tooth remote lever, and for a moment thought I may had broken/injured BOTH collarbones and my neck. I went and got X-rays that evening and nothing is broken, and I'm already feeling much better

sign up or come spectate! Camp. Eagle is one of the nicest venues that welcomes mountain biking in the entire state IMO. tons of amenities, lodging, food, beautiful swimming in perfect clear water,  zip lining, and some of the most badass gnarly texas terrain ive had the pleasure of building trails on so far.

Not trying to stir shit here but is the assumption being made that APD would have responded faster to a break in at MJs than they would to one at BSS or Peddlers? Are we now saying that not supporting the PD is better than supporting and then withdrawing that support?

their online rating has gone from a high 4 to a 1.8 since they made this decision. the people have spoken. LOL

as someone who has worked in a bike shop that serviced bikes for the local PD, I can tell you this was not an easy decision. the bikes came in every few months with cracked frames, broken axles, bent seat posts, totally destroyed suspension, bald tires. each job was hundreds of dollars of taxpayer money. when I met some of those officers, it was clear that the individual riding the. bike was challenging the manufacturer's weight limit for the bicycle. we had one who cracked the set tube and bend the seat post at the same time, just pedaling around city street. the bikes often looked like one of Seth's bikes after a week of Angelfire, but just from  basically riding sidewalks. I know those bikes get ridden a lot, but there was often clear evidence of abuse of equipment. the bike shop happily accepted the money though because it was good for business.

APD's budget is ridiculous. I am surprised they can afford to pay MJs prices for bikes and service, but guess who really pays that bill.

ok, this post was even better!

Good for MJs. They are an independent business who can make principaled decisions not to sell equipment that will be abused to a corrupt agency with a bloated budget.

I thought Trek stopped selling those cops bikes anyway.

    Furthermore, fuck APD.

lol I wonder who they will call once one of these tent-castle bums or someone else breaks into their shop and jacks a bunch of bikes.

  9. just wow, fired up Facebook this morning when I got onto the computer for work and saw this. How stupid can people (and apparently business owners) be?

    quoted from screenshot -

"For the past eight years I have had then fortune of buying and purchase equipment for the Down Town Area Command (DTAC) Bike Patrol and our Bicycle Public Order Team. We have 158 bike officers in DTAC and have been purchasing our bikes from Mellow Johnny’s Bike store in downtown Austin, a local business.

Today I received a call the sales manager I have worked with for years at MJ’S, he informed me that they have three employees who work for them that are complaining about providing bikes to the police department in this time of social unrest in protest and disturbances. They stated to ownership that they did not like the fact that we use bicycles to help us manage crowds and crowd movement.

The ownership of MJ’S has decided to listen to three employees and is sending APD an email canceling the four years left on the contract because three employees do not like police officers and did not like us in the store.

I am not going to put the dollar amount out there of the contract but we at APD we’re a great customer and bought 50 TREK police bikes a year from them, you can do the math on the bike at TREK.com but you will be short of the actuate dollar amount because of add ons.

So now a owner of a business choose to use loose one of his biggest contracts and listens to three hourly employees, they were not management. The employees I always talked too at MJ’S were great and we never had a problem so I don’t know why MJ’S choose this path to go down.

If anyone knows of a bike store that would like to serve the police I would love to talk to them about doing our next APD contract."
