I was out there Sunday and ran into a couple families out walking the trails. The sad part of this is that many times the hikers have the attitude that the trail is for them and not MTBers. I don't think that these people know or realize that if not for the MTB community none of these trails would exist. I think that people are generally ignorant and think that the trails have been built by the county or city for pedestrian use. I completely understand that once these trails are in place they become public multi use which is fine, I always yield to pedestrians but sometimes it's hard when they're just standing at a blind point in the trail. Many times these people are oblivious to anything around them and are staring at their phones not paying attention to their surroundings. It's crazy that as we evolve with all of this "Social connection" that we have at our fingertips we seem to be coming more antisocial.

Perhaps we just need additional signs reminding people not to stop at blind corners or on the trail, and some signs/plaques thanking and acknowledging the trail builders and groups so people realize that the MTB aren't invading, they are actually making this happen!

I think most people just think the trails were there forever and the trees and rocks just grew into berms...

People were still riding Peddlers when I went through around 3:15pm today.  I saw lots of muddy tracks on the concrete.  I let a few of them know it was too muddy.

I was there around 3:45pm, as I rode to the entrance to Peddler's saw a bunch of people riding, got to the entrance and saw the chain up and very wet looking trails.  I will give people the benefit of the doubt and they think "it's muddy but I'll just wash my bike and be safe so it's okay", they are not thinking "it's muddy and our soil just can't handle it and I'm going to ruin the trails".  At least I hope it's just ignorance and not just being selfish...

  3. If it's just me, my favorite is to just throw the bike in the bed.  Latest truck I bought had a 80" bed so I don't need to pull of a wheel or anything.  I have to open up the tonneau if I leave the wheels on since my bars is pretty wide.  I can fit the kids bikes in the bed and close up the tonneau, and then toss a hitch rack on the back too, and do like having the option to load up with gear in the bed, and hang a few bikes off the back if I need to.

A snake on Peddlers Pass, I've actually never seen one out there. I guess they've all seen the "Honey Badger don't give a F!@#" video

I've seen a couple, mostly little green snakes that I tried not to crush.  They were probably attracted my bike (bright green diamondback, haha)

Walked Snail with the wife and dogs last night. A total swamp up on top. I was amazed at how much water was up there. I figured the high areas would be drained off.

My rain gauge after the storm read 4.5", and my yard doesnt have standing water but anywhere without grass is mud.  Figures as soon as the pollen gets washed away so do the trails!!

I'd be all for scooters if I thought they are replacing a car trip...but I think like ride "share" they are not replacing car-trips. I think scooters are replacing walking, maybe cycling.

The Bike Share companies are taking  losses, likely because of the scooters.  Was in The Statesman today or yesterday.  It's absolutely replacing walking and cycling.  Some kid was moving them enough to set off the alarm and then moving on to the next one on Saturday, it was pretty entertaining to watch.

I'll probably be riding Brushy at least one mid-morning this week, although if possible I want to try and get a lap in out at LGT as well in prep for DS next week. I'll send you a PM.

I rode Double Down in both directions yesterday afternoon and this morning and it was fine, albeit with some slick rocks. I didn't ride anything else out there though, and suspect it is probably quite wet in spots. If it doesn't rain too much today or tomorrow, I think it will be fine at least on Wed.

I'll have to check my rain gauge but I think we got about a 1/2" near brushy last night and today.  I'm hoping it's dry on Sat. when I finally have a chance to ride.  If you see a goober on a bright green bike wearing a bunch of pads say hi.
