Guess it's time to pull down the gravel bike for Sat/Sun. 😞

Got quite a bit of track time on MX, Supermoto and sport bikes and agree that sportbike cornering technique does not translate to MTB. The weight the front and slide the rear of MX/supermoto (Pic) are better proxies minus the inside foot out part unless you're washing out. High side crashes suck but I've got some nice hardware to show for it.

Peddler's pub is take out only and the Amazeum museum is closed(i have young kids). Every restaurant we went to required a mask entering, going to your table and then going to the bathroom. I have been into The Hub bike shop a few times and their hours are normal. I've been up here twice this month and would say it seems mostly normal.
Thank you and good luck with the wheel search.

I've got two wheelsets and both require tensioning and true'ing every couple months. One set is Stan's Flow and the other SRAM Roam 40. (i'm currently in Bentonville and having one of the wheels tensioned/true'd...)
I saw Jenson has the Oozy 350 wheelset for under 400 and the engagement looks good on their hub. Just curious if anyone has abused them locally and how they've held up? I was considering having a wheelset built but for under 400 that Oozy wheelset looks guud especially if I can get 2 years of casing jumps and plowing rock gardens out of them.
Sorry no experience with the Oozy but I second Chief my XM481 have been bulletproof. Sorry for the tangent but are things in Bentonville pretty open? I've been thinking about making another trip up there but if the restaurants and shops are still shut down I'll probably wait a while longer.

Was an early adopter on dropper posts, they have a lot of issues but I love the performance. Got the first gen Reverb, it failed a bunch, got it serviced under warranty 2 times and finally gave up on it. Got a KS Lev and liked it better, but had a lot of side to side play and failed as well, got it serviced and sold that bike. Ran a Crankbrothers High Line and loved it, ran it for over a year with no issues at all. New bike came with a newer gen Reverb stealth. It has worked so far and will probably get it serviced under warranty when the time comes before I give up on it. Thing is the reverb has a great feel to it, the return is so nice and adjustable...when it still works. Best post I have tried is the Bike Yoke, but out of my price range. Would get a Brand X if I could find a 200mm drop. Looking at PNW and Oneup for my next dropper.
How long has anyone ran a Oneup? Any issues?
So far I've only run the Oneup for about 3 months with no issues. The only issues I've had with my KS Lev posts (31.6 & 27.2) over the past 4yrs have been with the 27.2 on my SS and those are known to have cartridge issues. If the Oneup is as reliable as my larger KS Lev at ~1/2 the cost I'll be very happy.

+ 1 on the one up. I'm running the180mm V2 and it's been better than my old KS Lev at about half the cost. I've heard nothing good from friends that have used the reverb.

Has anyone investigated the feasibility of constructing an irrigation system on the singletrack along the Brushy Creek Regional Trail? (God damn it is DRY AF)
LOL Just got back from a ride. Weather was perfect this morning but some of the turns were pretty crumbly.

Was looking forward to the next shuttle race at the end of the month. I loved the tree jump, jump line and some of the chunky stuff at the top. As others mentioned lots of potential but not a real convenient location and Spider is closer.

Yeah. I was out from 4 to 5 yesterday and it was pretty miserable. 97 degress with 70% humidity. Ran Peddlers, Mulligan, and Picnic up and back before I gave up. I drank all 2.5 liters of water in my camelback in 45 minutes.
With the rain coming I thought it would be a good idea to get in a ride today but like an idiot waited until noon. On the plus side the trails were almost empty I hit Candyland, Peddlers, 1/4, DD, Snail, Picnic and only saw one other solo rider on DD and a couple parents w/ their children on Peddlers and Picnic.

Changes to make it more fun are always the way to go. Personally I could care less about the KOM. Don't get me wrong I like looking at the Strava segments but unless I'm racing or doing a Trainerroad stationary workout I almost never push 100% for any real length of time. Trail time is about having fun and developing skills on tech stuff.

Congratulations looks good. It takes a few rides to get comfortable with a new bike. Switching between the HT and FS I'm always amazed at how cushy the FS is.

I just don’t typically have the gas. It takes all I have to ride from the crib out East, do all the trails (except SN) and then get home. The last few times past that rock I’m just glad to have any kind of flow at all.
I REALLY need to re-route that eroded fall line left turn a couple turns after Cyrus. Next rainy day off I think I’m gonna do it. I don’t want it to be something I keep saying I’ll do but never get around to. Firstblood, you got any McLeods er whut?
Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way I'm about 10 mi in by the time I've started riding 1/4 if I've hit Candyland, Gnar and Peddlers so a little fatigued and not fully on my game by the time DD comes up.

What the hell I'll throw in my .02c I weigh ~165 and run 2.35 Ardent race on 30mm wide rims tubeless with 19psi front and 23psi rear. Works great on my FS but I have pinch flatted with that set up on the SS hardtail bombing a rock garden so I'm not about to run lower in the rear.

Crankbrothers Klic HV +Co2 is a good one for carrying in a pack as it's got a gauge is high volume and has the Co2 adapter. It also has a hose which makes using it a bit easier.
https://www.crankbrothers.com/products/klic-hv-gauge-co2
Lately I've transitioned over to using a OneUp EDC pump attached to the bike. It lacks the gauge and hose but has the Co2 adapter and holds the EDC tool and a Co2 cartridge. I like it because it means less in my pack but unfortunately it's not cheap at ~100 for the pump and EDC tool.

GG allows for the upgrades. I went ahead and upgraded the suspension as that seems to be the most bang for your buck. Ordering today!
Thank you everyone for the info!Excellent what did you do fork and shock or just one?
-
Not knowing what your upgrade budget is it's tough to pick one. Is GG giving you the okay to upgrade by selecting one of the items off of the higher builds or would you be buying the upgrade yourself and replacing?
If it's the former then my personal order would be suspension, wheels, drive then brakes. If it's the latter then olddbrider is right while you can find some deals suspension and wheels are going to be expensive. I would purchase, ride then upgrade later. Both of those builds are good. High end suspension and wheels can make a big difference but they are costly and the rider is still the most important part of the equation.

I left the house early this morning worrying about viruses, jobs and homeschooling and came back home thinking about techy spots on Deception and sweet jumps on Snail. Beautiful morning on the trails.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkOne more conf call to go and I'm doing the same. Looks great outside other than being a bit windy.

That looks pretty solid. So many options. I do like the idea of buying from a US company with in country manufacturing.
Yes they also do have a secret menu where there are more options like a Pistola (Trail Pistol with 130mm travel rather than 120mm), or a mullet bike with different sized wheels front and rear. I was strongly considering going with a Pistola but ended up going with a Yeti SB130 instead.
-
In the just under 4k range you might want to take a look at the Guerrilla Gravity stuff. They have a wide range of options from 120 to 160mm travel and you can swap out the rear seat stays and shock to change the rear travel if your needs change in the future. https://ridegg.com/#featured-products

Just when I got comfortable with the rest of the stuff on Snail. Oh well something new to work up the courage to try.

I believe that area is just called Snail Trail but could be wrong.

I think the choice might be different, depend on whether you're putting smaller tires on a MTB bike, or wider tires on a road bike.
True I did run a set of 40C Smart Sams on my El Mariachi for the LBJ 100 and holey roller a couple years back and it did work well but looked goofy as hell.
-
I run the 40C Ramblers tubeless on my gravel bike, they roll really well on paved/gravel surfaces and work well on the random singletrack trail.
