Yeah, when I used to do 12-14 hour flights to Asia I spent a lot of time up and walking around the cabin. Never wore the compression socks but drink a lot of water. That also forces you to get up more often 😉

Same thing here I take those flights 4-5 times a year.  No compression socks but walk/stretch, hydrate (no alcohol) and baby aspirin. and always an aisle seat so I can get up whenever I want.

I was going to say, I think the thermoplastic is going to be heavier.  I've gotten to use thermoplastic printed circuit boards for RF/microwave applications, also with chopped fibers (fiberglass in this case) and they had advantages, but also many disadvantages compared to the usual epoxy pre-preg.

What aluminum rims should I look at if I want decent weight, good lateral stiffness?  I have ridden on Stan's ZTR 355, Stan's Crest, Stan's flow and none compared to my now fairly old Nox rims.

My preference for strength and weight would be DT XM 481.  WTB Asym are a good lower cost option but a bit heavier.  I have the 481 on my FS and the Asym on the SS and both have been rock solid unlike the WTB i19 that I turned into a Taco hitting a berm.  That one hurt a bit.

Has anyone tried the G-Form? https://g-form.com/padded-compression-shirt

Obviously less protection than the others mentioned here, but better than the alternative of nothing. I like their knee and elbow pads.

Interesting but not much coverage there.  It's pricey but on the Moto I've used Forcefield armor and it worked great the couple of crashes I've had on the track.  The armor is soft so it forms to the body.

  4. I just started so I don't have the setup sorted as of yet.  Just using a laptop on a desk but I have been thinking about putting a large tv on the wall in the office.....  Maybe if the wife gets upset I can blame it on TheX 🙂

Those of you running low 20's and teens:

    How much do you weigh?
    Running cushcore or some variant?

Doing lots of jumps/drops with those pressures?

I tend to run 24 front/26 rear. I probably weigh closer to 180lbs with my gear and my bike is around 34 lbs. I want to get cushcore and try some lower pressures.

I'm 160 and run 2.35's at ~23 rear and 19 front.  I would run lower but I've had a couple instances of bombing through a downhill rocky section at high speed that ended with punctures when running ~16 front and 19 rear.  The most recent one resulted in both front and rear spraying Orangeseal and of course I only had one tube.  I don't believe cushcore would have helped as the cuts were in the middle of the tire not snakebites next to the bead so I've not considered going that route.

I have Ardent and Ikon on my XC bike, and they SUCKED doing the Banduro. I'm buying an entirely new bike for that stuff. it won't have Ardent on it.

This times a thousand.  I run Ardent race on all of my bikes and they work really well at Brushy, Walnut, Warda, RPR, etc but at Bandera it felt like I was running slicks.  Now to find an old 26er DH bike. 🙂

You're light years beyond where I'm at. I'm signed up for beginner. The only expectation I have is having a good time. I have too many lingering injuries to expect any miracles...but I'll be there Frida and Saturday. White F-150 with a shell.

Thanks  just looking forward to having some fun as I already have too much hardware. I'm sure it's a matter of not being familiar with the trails.

Yes! I went out at 3pm, did deception, rim loop, a couple others. Fantastic conditions.

+1  Weather could not have been more perfect.  Hit Deception, Snail, Picnic and Snow White/Gnargasm  all were in perfect shape.

  9. Not sure that there is a perfect set up.  I've been playing with my lighting for a couple of years now but I'm still not set on the helmet light.  Currently I'm running a Niterider 2800 enduro on the handlebars it's a great light but the battery pack is heavy and takes a couple of minutes to put on so if I'm being lazy I'll just throw my Lumina 1100 on. As far a helmet lights I usually alternate between a Lumina 950 but it's a bit heavy and a Sigma Buster 200.  The Buster 200 is nice and light but light output on the Lumina is way better.

A round bike tube patch, about 1" diameter, with the vulcanizing/rubber cement included. Rough up the inside of the tire *slightly* because you don't want to scratch deep and start cutting tire cords.

And I also learned I had been installing these incorrectly, at least the brand I have. You're only supposed to put cement on the carcass you are patching (the tire in this case). Once dry, then press the patch on. I had been putting cement on both parts.

This also cleaning the area with alcohol before putting the patch on helps the patch stick.
