Just walked up from the sports park to peddlers west and there is standing water in the roller section. With that being said, the soil didn’t look as soft as I expected so the trails may dry quickly. I’ll see what tomorrow brings.

I’m shooting for a 2pm roll from crib. Gives it as much time as possible for a 3hr ride. Windy too so hoping that helps.

That's the kind of nostalgic story telling Brian was looking for this morning... Eric could only tell his side, then talk crap about you to balance it out, haha 😆 I tried to defend you, but I wasn't part of the interview...

I’m sure Erica talked about how much he loves gnar and how much I like lycra. Lol. It’s all true! Those were great times though. Admittedly, I built that (helped build) trail for me and me alone. I can’t lie. Seeing others enjoy it is now a side bonus. I was so selfish and short-sighted then. I was starving. Yesterday I saw all the cheater lines, muttered the word “pussies” but just kept riding. I’m humbled by people like ronan(sp) and josh and all the others I’m failing to mention who have done nothing but help keep things sick. It has grown to be something of which I know we’re all proud. Long live the trail!

The rocks on Double Down and the connector over to Rim were slick as snot this morning. I guess it was just due to a really heavy dew. After popping a spoke I went over and rode Peddlers, which was fabulous. Need to get my spoke replaced so I can get back out there tomorrow. Need to get over to Candyland since I haven't ridden those sections in a good while.

Speaking of candyland...ugh...had a poo the bibs moment yesterday on gnargasm. Clipped a tree with a shoulder and kinda blipped toward the exposed edge. Another blip and I was finding out what falling down the whole thing is like. Crazy how time off the bike affects handling just enough to do that, and crazy how we take for granted how close to disaster we are riding these bikes n trails.

  4. Planning to hit it Saturday. I’m imagining there will be quite a crowd with hero dirt and temps. I’ve got my “GET A FUCKING HELMET!” bark ready to go.

When we built this thing I was picturing having it to ourselves. Wtf? Nah, it’s cool to see cars and trucks in the area with bikes on the back headed to the Sports Park. Kinda crazy really.

Had a nice nostalgic ride yesterday. Temps were unreal and dirt was choice.  Somehow I managed to ride pretty slowly but keep nice flow AND have alot of fun.  I was remembering things like the days when all we had were loppers and garden hoes. Lol. That’s the first maybe .5 to .67 miles or so of East Deception...the skinny single track...then the McLeods arrived.

My attempt to ride Rawk Garten at the West end of Deception was prettttyyyy sad. I made up for it by beasting up a short, steep climb that goes left out of the Ditch and hooks into the end of Rim. That pretty much popped me.

Again, very thankful to all who help maintain and defend the trail. Really awesome.

  5. Gonna hit the trails tomorrow for first time in quite some time. Looking forward to seeing the new stuff on Peddlers. Looking forward to barely making it to the bailout East to West on Deception then limping up rim job to definitely spin the BCRT back home. In fact, already looking forward to finishing the ride.

Has the wooden deal on Gnargasm been tightened up/inspected/made less sketch that we know of?

  6. I literally cannot remember the last time I rode here. Maaaybe once since I rode at Davis Mountains State Park early September. This weather is not helping the growing apathy. I’m guessing next time out I will be in laughably poor condition.

My disc golf game is really improving, though!

  7. Wondering if Pace Bend got hit....anyone know? This quote from yesterday doesn’t sound good

edit: “Thanks. Crankin and I got rained on after about an hour at Pace Bend. Lots of riders coming in when we left waiting on it to stop. Was going to be slick as hell out there after that heavy of a rain.”

I would add that there's a third group:

Those that do wench, and fuck it up, then become those that don't, and take's it to someone that does. 🙂

Also, I would agree about checking your seat post as well. Something that took me forever to locate as the culprit.

Man...I just got to the point one day where I didn’t enjoy wrenching anymore. I’m pretty pathetic now. About all I’ll do is re-Stans my wheels here and there..perhaps tighten the shifter barrel adjuster, lol...otherwise, straight to Peddler

  9. I think polite confrontation is perfectly fine. If you’re with your kids, then simply stay calm as an example and if the other guy loses it, then there is a teaching moment for them to see how they should act in the face of pure stupidity.

Just my 2 cents, but I personally really enjoy letting my kids get real world looks at how to properly handle assholes. This obviously assumes the guy would have been an asshole about it if your approach was polite. Base your approach in fact, also.

I used to roll off Collarbone instead of using the switchback between the rocks until onetime I rolled up to it too slow. I realized as my front tire was rolling off the edge that I was moving too slow and tried to ride it out. No OTB but lost control and landed on my left shoulder blade and felt something spear me in the chest. Tore the cartilage front and rear on my ribcage took about two and a half months to heal.

I’ve been OTB on this feature and all I could think of while flipping was “no collarbone breaks!”....luckily came out unscathed. Now I swing waaay left and go between rocks. I aint too proud.

I can understand why some people need to ride an E-Bike, medical reasons etc but both of these guys were young, in shape, and had no visible reason to be riding an E-Bike.

Are E-Bikes even allowed on County trails?

I wonder this as well. I’d like to know for sure before I confront anyone. I guess I’d want some kind of statute to quote...not like it’d probably REALLY matter in the end...but yeah, it would be nice for bike shops to educate people on where they can be used if they don’t already...but the only point of business at its core...make money

Dude, don't ever go slow; that's how these things happen.

Man I know, and the second I started down I thought about that, but it wasn’t an OTB issue, it was a didn’t see that tree and STILL not quite used to riding “wide bars”....even after 2 years.

But I hear you. Hand pretty sore but healing pretty quickly. No way it can be broken, but what a SICK SLAM!

  12. Well...Spongebob finally got me the other day. I rode to the top and did a trackstand as I looked at where I’d huck if I ever got the balls to try. I saw a line and decided “next time”.  So I went to slowly ride down the right side and my bar clipped the sapling at the top and whipped me off my bike at the top to the left. I got a foot down on the transition before hammering down on my left arm, hand, shoulder at the bottom on a pile of rocks sitting on a rock slab. I cried a little. It fucking hurt pretty good.

I don’t THINK my hand is broken as it’s improving daily. I can loosely grip things now with moderate pain. Elbow is pretty big and shoulder is fine. It was such a stupid slam. Earlier in the day I slammed my right shin on the side of a pool. It was a rough day for my temple of a body.

Had to walk out of the trail since I couldn’t grip the bar at all and ride back home in one-handed shame.
