  1. FirstBlood has always had problems interacting normally with people. It’s just how he is.
I looove when I see no one on Deception. It makes my heart happy. I like that it’s getting gnarlier... it’s all definitely still rideable IMO (E to W anyway - I don’t ride it W - E anymore) but it sure takes some strong legs and lungs to clear all the features and ride it all without stopping.
Last time I rode I ended up in a crew of some FAST women on Peddlers. The 2 fastest were hot as hell too... that was awesome to witness. Of course, I had to pass them to keep my ego intact, but in doing so, I popped myself pretty good... didn’t have enough gas after to ride Deception (had worked out hard in the gym the day before also).... but yeah, there’s trail out there for everyone now, and that’s flat out sweet.
If I ride Saturday, with Peddlers being occupied, might actually have to go hit Suburban Ninja again and wander around out there. Even though jumps aren’t my thing I wanna see the church stuff as well.
Still crazy to see how this all has transpired... from 2011 or whatever to now. I do get a real sense of fuzzy feelings when I see dads (usually) with their kids on picnic and peddlers. That gets me every time. I also enjoy passing those kids and dropping them HARD.

So, how long is the current version of Peddlers?

I went over there again today after riding Deception, were I saw one other rider... but there were at least a dozen on PP, including an e-bike, and I am pleased to say that even in my current sad state, I caught up to him. I also didn't see him roosting or doing throttle wheelies, so that's good 😉

BTW, I'm shocked at how much the trails have worn down in the year that I was out; 1/4 is about to turn a solid black (if it hasn't already), and most of the stumps I cut a couple of years ago are already showing 4-6" again... guess I'm due for another saw walk.

    Dude hmu let’s roll!

  3. Went and checked the trail on West Deception where the Hollows begins. That part of the trail looked rideable. No sticky mud. Gonna give it a shot tomorrow around 11 or 12 and hope for the best unless someone checked more thoroughly and knows it’s not worth the effort.

edit: that wind is still whipping.... that’s gotta help right? Riiiiight? *quiver lip

If it's not sticking to your tire it ok to take the chain down.  Thats very surprising its ok to ride.

Yeah. I put chain back up.

All but peddlers is good to ride. Go get it while you can! Slick rocks in places but drying quickly. Rim Job was only place it got real precarious. Skipped Gnargasm.

I ended up just riding over to the YMCA from the house and doing several laps on Snail. Rocks were slick there too but it was a great hour or so of fun. Kept hitting that high arch on the left that loops up around the tree heading towards the BCRT, and on the last lap I came in too hot and couldn't get pointed down quick enough. Ended up skidding down but walked away with nothing more than minor abrasions and a deep thigh bruise.

Props to you for being on the bike again, man.

I’m really... like really hoping the rocks dry by like 11am...or that picnic is doable and I’ll just warm lap it like 10 times or something... maybe that line along the tree line in that flat field if not cakey. I don’t mind slick rocks sometimes, but definitely not West Deception. Just asking for new teeth or shoulders and helmets.

Ugh, these dicks with no helmet. I’m not polite to them. I’ve explained to a few that if they end up vegetablizing themselves it could all end... or at least change everything, including but not limited to, them.

I really wanna ride. Glad to hear the dirt is at least ok on SOMETHING.

I was out at the skate park area with my daughter and her friend WISHING I could ride. The little section of trail by the creek near the soccer fields was absolute bewbs.

  8. Yeah you’re taking a very individual sport and forcing it into a group situation with group rides. I prefer riding alone. I get boosted, listen to music, and flow. I hate being the slow guy. I’d much rather faster riders just drop me and do their thing.
The overall message of the original post is a good one though. It applies to life. I have been raising my kids to know this very thing... no one gives two shits about your hair, clothes, etc... if they act like they do, then they’re pathetic people who need to stand on your shoulders to reach the stars. Ugh. I need to ride. Been too long.

Were you wearing your "I got chopped T-shirt"? If so we know you went to Dr Dick Chopp at Urology Austin.

Haha nah I went to a guy close to where I live. I should have taken the Valium as he lightly suggested. I also did not follow post op instructions very well and paid for it in the form of a right ball of absolute fire. I’m just glad my impatience seemingly didn’t cause some sort of irreparable harm.

He grabbed ahold of some nerve while he was fishing around for one of the tubes and I felt it radiate up my flank and into my arm. At that very moment my whole body tensed and I started to sweat profusely. I’m sure that didn’t help things.

Maybe I should have gone to Chopp. I feel like this guy knew what he was doing though. He spoke to me calmly about quasi random things as he was working.... you know, like he’d been in many sacks before.

Deception was so awesome last night. Didn’t see anyone but a couple of rabbits and deer. I think maybe I like the trail more in the dark.

I used to ride almost exclusively at night. It’s definitely a different beast, as I’m sure most trails are. I never sleep well after night rides for whatever reason. Too juiced I guess.

First ride today 3 weeks post vasectomy😳and according to the physician, “the toughest he’s done in 2-3 months...” but yeah no pain! So relieved.

Trail is great right now. I almost went flying into the first G-out coming up Rim Job when I just had a feeling it might suck. So glad I did because the rocks were slick as hell. When I went down basket as I was rolling away one of those large green softball sized things tried to tweak my front tire out from under me. Hazards everywhere!

So glad to be riding again!

Yea sorry guys, worked a 13 hour day yesterday so by the time I got home I was spent.

If anyone gets out there today let us know how things look so I can update the feed.

Whom do I think I’m kidding? Failed to check forecast. Too cold for this wuss anyway.

  12. If choosing only one option...

No brainer for me. Hitch rack and something sensible. I have had the Thule T2 for 10+ years and it’s simple and durable. I had a chick rear end me and it did nothing. Her bumper was in the street though.😬

I would worry about a pad messing up my paint, not to mention the bike(s) hogging up valuable bed space. Plus I have never ridden park and the pads seem real endurbro. 🤡

  13. Yeah I think people walking around and perhaps riding just like to explore around. I rode “kind of Barn” not long ago from the top just for old times sake. It’s a fun swoopy deal that I used to get my level of “air” on. Sooo like 2” tops.

Man I hope this “fall/winter” riding is better than last year. Hard to imagine it would be worse being that last year it rained and rained, thus making riding nonexistent.

I will be doing my part. I will not be getting a new bike. I’m finally riding the best bike for me that I’ve ever been on...Now that I had AJ torque all the bolts to spec with Loc-Tite...freaking Yeti. All my linkage bolts...main ones and the switch infinity ones backed themselves out from the factory. Appreciating The Peddler for buttoning it up. I’ve never felt true love for a bicycle before, lol. I love you, Molly. I really do.

Yeah I remember I doubted feasibility, but you clawed and tazmanian deviled your way through. It’s a great little techy piece to get things started.

  15. So my trail report is as follows: if Gumdrop East is dry (including rock face at entry) then it’s probably all boobs except maybe peddlers’ dirty butt.

but it’s a perfect day for riding whatever is rideable. Encouraged thus far.

Update to update - rode all from Gumdrop to YMCA. Imagine the overall weather + hero status of the dirt being a 10. Now translate that in your own head to breasts...whatever that means to you, and that’s how things are out here. Unngh.

  16. I run Oury slide on. Will not try anything else.

I’ve found what cures numbness for me is stretching the wrists/hands along with massaging the shoulders and pecs where they “attach” to shoulder.

When I ride Brushy, for example, I spend my time on the granite paths and concrete connectors between trails stretching out my upper body. I can feel everything “come alive” and the numbness goes away completely.

How hard did the trails get hit this morning with the rain that came through?

Doesn’t seem like we got much actual precip. Windy as hell today and sun just popped out. I’ll probably go ride at the risk of having to do BCRT. 🤮

Judging by the extraordinary large fur burgers on the trails and jeep roads .. something is there

I have always known fur burgers to be something else....another way to call a cat or kitten.

edit: rode this morning, actually kinda cool temps. Had a great 2 hour deal. Showed some dudes from Houston around a bit. Was cool to hear their reactions to things on the trail....entrance from BCRT to picnic x, drops on picnic x, your sister’s thong...

  19. I was riding at Ski Apache in Ruidoso when my rear rotor started rubbing all the way down the trail. I reset my calipers to zero rub “in the stand” but it kept happening. 3rd time up the gondola realized a bolt had backed out on my couple months old Yeti SB100 😲...guess I’m glad it stayed together on some of those wood features and tame drops. My rear wheel was definitely canted to one side. Now the spots where the frame was rubbing are gnarled. Guess I figure Yeti would be sure things are to spec coming from the factory 🤷🏻‍♂️
