  1. Isn't the default way down SpongeBob just to huck it by staying right?  That's what I always do...don't remember going down the cheese grater to the left.  Definitely seems like more fun just to huck it...

Now, going up it, you have to take the cheese grater...it's one of the two things that sometimes prevents me from clearing 1/4.  But with the right speed and gear, getting up isn't that hard.  Just easy to get bounced and forced to dab.

This is the best I can do...I'd need to blow up Double Down to label everything in there and without pics, it'd be kind of pointless I think.

Hey thanks, even a basic feature-name map would be cool and it looks like that's what you were posting but it's showing up with a circle with a minus sign in it.  Not sure why that is, but maybe a missing file attachment?

  3. I think I asked EB before, but I don't remember.  I would love a map of the names of the features on DD.  Does such a thing exist?  I've cleared everything one direction or the other.  The one that gives me fits is Squeeze Play, one of those drops is a cinch...the other direction, I just can't get lined up to bunny hop it...it's driving me nuts!   Not too much trouble on the rest of it...I'm on a mission to no-dab DD.

The video on the BCB blog with the feature names is like 6 years old and if I watch it again, I'm going to have a seizure.  Hope there's a map out there...is there one?

Sure. Already posted in another thread but happy to show it off here as well! Once things dry out, there should be regular sightings of it on the Brushy Trails.

Super nice!  As long as Intense keeps making mountain bikes, I'll keep riding 'em.  The best!

  5. One thing about Giants is they tend to be a little bigger than the normal S. M, L or XL.  I took a friend's Trance 2 out a couple of years ago and it was a small, it had all the dimensions of a medium.  So be careful there.  I don't think, generally, someone who is 6 feet tall should have an XL.  Could be wrong there, so just be careful and throw a leg over whatever you buy if possible.

My saying that Giants are a little bigger than other bikes is based on info from a couple years ago.  That may not still be the case, but it most definitely was then.  So if you're considering a used rig, just be aware.  That may or may not be the case with new bikes...

Chunk Truck is before that. I always make a point to hit that segment. there are several alternative ways to get through there.

Probably the same as what's called 'Rocky Trail' where the old truck is...I'm thinking?  It does line up with this trail.  Some fun, chunky stuff...and it sounds cool as you ride it and all the rocks are bouncing off each other.

  7. Side note, the Kincheon Branch that shoots out of DN is a pretty fun, but overlooked, little section.  The only downside is that once you hit Abilene Trail, you have to ride a bunch a blocks to get to trails that lead to Drip Drop.  I can't remember what it's called, but it's something like rocky or chunky something.  It just traces along the creek there...mostly pedestrians, I think, but a fun, even a little technical trail.

I'll check it out. I will also contact the HOA's trails committee chairman to get in front of this.

Whoever is doing this needs to stop. This whole jewel of an area could very easily be shut down to us. "Follow the rules or lose it" is illustrated very well here.

My feeling is that it's neighborhood kids?

  9. There is a new trail called Flow Daddy, which goes east from Mopac along Wmson Creek on the north side and then crosses over it three times before joining into the already-existing trail there.  I'd say about 1/5th of the way in, you skirt by a homeless camp.   The builders noticed it wasn't used much, if at all, but there is a shit ton of garbage and leftovers there.  The trail doesn't show on your map, but the trash there needs to be addressed...it's bad.

And this is a great idea...you're right, great PR for riders.  I've got some other ideas I'll be adding soon...

  10. Here are my highlights from the SATN.

The flow on Chip Chop/Rattlesnake is pretty awesome, super fast and fun.

    Genesis is awesome.

All of 45 Flow thru House Fire...most excellent.

I may be alone in this, but I really dig the first of the four Avana Escapes...the one that starts at the end of Escarpment.  Love that trail.

There are others, will post as they come to me.

  11. The only thing about the BCGB at night is that riding with lights will take some getting used to and lights will impact your depth perception.  So hard things look not as hard and can get you into trouble.  Personally, I LOVE riding trails at night and it's my favorite time to do it, but if you've never done it, I wouldn't suggest doing the BCGB until you've gotten used to the difference in how things look under lights at night.  I think the SATN would be better for that to get used to how different things look.  I know some experienced riders who pretty much won't do the BCGB at night because of this...it can be hairy.

I occasionally see homeless people under Wm Cannon, but I've never had any issues with them.  Riding alone, at least for me, has never been a problem with homeless folks.  I would, however, stay out of MMS at night alone.  There are quite a few homeless people in that area...

  12. lol  I love 'b'

However, this cannot be the work, it seems to me, of a curtain-twitching busy-body.  Sure looks like it was washed up that way.  Isn't that at Everwet?  Looks like debris just piled up there from water flow.  That said, surely someone would have noticed that before now since the most recent rains weren't enough to create that...could it not be from flooding?  I can't see how this is the work of humans...but I could be way wrong!

I don't know wtf is going on there...but it looks like it's going to be a lot of work to clear that shit out!
