The reason it has not stopped people is that people believe that it shouldn't be there. They view it as an obstacle and they believe that by moving it they are actually helping things.
I agree and had more or less already stated this on the previous page.

What exactly is the agreement with the county? Perhaps add some signage on the features on trails that tend to be heavily trafficked by walkers like Picnic?
Something like:
DO NOT ALTER TRAIL BY REMOVING LOG, ROCK, OR OTHER SINGLE TRACK FEATURES!
This has been done at some features. Hasn’t stopped people.

Can we build a wall....ride?
On a serious note, in the grand scheme of things, is that one feature worth the battle? People don't want to...
I actually think if it’s a more obvious man-made/modified feature then people will be less inclined to touch it. The log referenced is a slightly different situation since it’s not obvious to the non-rider that it may be used by mtn bikers.

We’re going to build a new feature!
And the hikers are going to pay for it!

Let's organize a day to do these spots. I say we go more extreme with it. Make real features. Like stacked log rolls and rock features cemented in place.

Sounds good. Let me know when and if I need to pick up anything.

Dude what the fuck!
My guess is that it isn’t a mtn biker doing this. Hikers are probably seeing this as a hazard to their precious self.
Im busy prepping my yard for resod but afterwards I vote we add new features in place of where these fuckers are removing logs.

It’s only a flesh wound!
I decided to try 1/4 Notch the first day I got clipless pedals. Ended up not clipping out in time and fell over on a cactus. That was fun.

I was partially kidding but I would like to here Eric and Joshs opinion on the best solution here.

Anyone want to get together to concrete these in place?
Or
Could a new sign be put in place? Size 120 font?

I feel like I'm back in high school. Can we just not do this shit here anymore. I mean you guys do you. But maybe elsewhere . Or maybe I'm the one with the issue and just need to take a hiatus again.

Not just you. It takes away from the purpose of this thread. These guys need to grab dinner together, maybe a movie, and then see where things go from there.

I was on a call this morning and walked some trails...
1/4 Notch g2g
Based on 1/4 Notch, including its shady East entrance, I’m going to say Rim and Double Down are good to go.
Picnic g2g
Mulligan g2g - wet gouts blah blah blah
Didnt have time to get to any other trail.
-
Awesome good to hear! Not good to hear about your chain 🤪
-
Based on my yard I’m going to guess that trails should be getting close to be g2g. I plan to go out tomorrow morning. Anyone check things out late this afternoon?

Rain gauge here shows ~1” and it did pour here for awhile. Trails were muddy earlier this morning. It’s drying fast though with the sun and wind. Bet it’s good to go tomorrow.

Rant... There's a guy I've encountered a few times around Picnic that never has his dog on a leash. It always seems to be around lunch time during the week. I've asked him nicely a couple times to use a leash in such a high traffic area but he just ignores me.
Saw him again this morning standing on the bridge by the train overpass with the dog off leash wandering on the bridge. I still had my go pro running from a Picnic run. Normally I would keep my distance and skip the little side path by the bridge but I was irritated so I buzzed behind him off the bridge. Couldn't help myself. If you see him, ask him to put his damn dog on a leash.
I knew it was going to be this guy. He parks up here on Dodge Cattle and walks down. Nice guy. Honestly, I give people like him a pass. He’s just an old guy enjoying life with his puppers.

Wahoo Kickr Snap trainer for sale. Used for less than 10 hours and in perfect working order. I bought this but just never ended up using it since I was either cycling outdoors or running.
This is perfect for being stuck indoors all day and would make for a good trainer as we enter the blazing hot summer.

last night about 10:30 on picnic approached an oncoming rider that pulled over and as I was thanking him for the pass, realized in was a police officer. Did something happen out there to have them patrolling the mtb trails that late? Also noticed all this extra traffic on the trails has made it b-line maze down there. Most making no sense at all.
They were out there this weekend ensuring people were following guidelines for social distancing and whatnot. I’m surprised he would have been out there that late. Maybe he was just enjoying the trails lol

If it stops one person riding a wet trail, wouldn't it be worth it? Idiots know better and do it anyway. Some people just don't know any better.
Yea I agree. Anything that can be done to lesson damage is positive.

It’s a good thought, but the idiots that are going to ride wet trails will continue to do so. As an example, there are signs on Deception to not alter the trails yet it still happens.
I will say that I’ve been checking and reporting Brushy Creek trail conditions since 2017 and with the the trail condition feed I maintain, this page, and the FB Austin Mtb trail condition page, I have seen a decrease in trail damage here at Brushy after rain. And that’s with MORE people on the trails nowadays then in previous years.

It’s okay for trail running. That’s to say I’ve ran in a number of times without anyone frowning at me. Just be cognizant of your surroundings and move to the side when you hear cyclists.
Also, for anyone that didn’t see the trail condition update. I checked 1/4, Double Down, Picnic and Peddlers this morning. All were good to go but I thought Peddlers needed a tad more time. Peddlers is probably good to go at this point. It’s getting warm out here!

@GreenMTBrider How are the trails at Brushy looking this morning?
Good timing, just got back.
Didn’t have time to check all trails due to work but...
1/4 Notch - g2g
Deception - g2g
Picnic - g2g
Peddlers - trail is really close to being good but I was getting more dirt pickup on my tires than I’m comfortable with so I bailed. Will be much better this afternoon.
There still is surface moisture on the ground so expect some spicy spots (rocks/roots). This will burn off soon making for primo conditions.

Yea I know lol. I thought you were waving me to move the shit out of my driveway. Surprised you were riding at that time. You come across a lot of people?

Skinny here that goes through the trees than curves to the right would be sweeeetttttt, but I’ll let the elves engineer a feature.
