About to head out to PP. I managed to score a cheap beat up SS trail/jumper a couple of days ago and I want to see how it fairs. Im sure Ill be runnin slow, but it should be fun! Cant ride too hard because its pretty much brakeless 😅
Should be good haha. I’ve taken my gravel bike out there, and with the exception of a couple spots, it faired pretty well.

Is that the EMS access point for 1/4 notch?
Yes it is. This happened on the regional trail though so they were luckily able to access the individual easily.

A man in his 40-50s was cycling on the regional trail and collapsed. Sounds like it may have been a heart attack.

Hope everyone is safe. Lots of police and an ambulance here on Dodge Cattle. Police scanner sounds like there was an accident. May be bringing in starflight.

Peddlers Pass is good to go now.

My rain gauge near 1/4 Notch didn’t pick up anything but condensation. I went out this morning, dirt was fine but most everything else is slick. Roots are slick, leaves are slick, rocks are slick. Things are starting to dry now and we’re supposed to get sun this afternoon which will make the trails bueno.

Yea I was about to say, I love hitting the trails on the east side then riding Ninja. You can spend a decent amount of time connecting all the trails at Brushy.

Trails are good to go btw.

Already beat you to it this morning. Trails are good to go. I did note a couple puddles here and there but the near 90 degrees and wind we got yesterday really dried things out. Get some.

Did we get any rain overnight or this morning? Might try to sneak out for one last ride this afternoon if I can.
Nope. Trails are in good shape. Rain is supposed to move in around 3PM last I checked so I’d get out there ASAP

Im setting up spike strips on Dodge Cattle.

Supposed to get rain starting this evening anyway so I don’t think it’s going to have an impact to mtn biking.

So maybe tomorrow morning for 1/4 and DD? It's pushing 90 deg here in Leander right now...
Tomorrow DD and 1/4 will be good. I’d guess with 99.9% confidence they’re good now given how warm it’s been today.

Too Wet still?
I rode out there this morning to check things out. The high humidity in the morning made rocks and exposed roots very slick on 1/4 Notch and Double Down. I didn’t ride the whole trail because I was afraid I was going to bust my ass.
Picnic was also slimy still and I was getting a decent amount of dirt caking on the tires so I turned around.
Should be in better shape this afternoon with the sun we’re getting. I don’t think Peddlers will be g2g today, so I’ll check tomorrow.

Were you the guy I spoke to outside my house on Dodge Cattle? Either way, thanks for the update on the trails!

Who’s building this stuff? They deserve a beer or two.

Was that you I saw on Reddit?
Not me. There’s a lot of people dedicating their 3D printers to help combat the medical supply shortage. I just shipped 24 face shields to NY earlier this morning. More being printed as I type this.

Another option, and it has been done, I just don't recall where, is to close parks for automobile traffic. No driving to it, no parking.

I agree with this.

I’m going to be “that guy” and say it: They should shut down the parks. People are idiots and taking too many risks. Personally I’ve seen an uptick in people riding trails out here at Brushy without helmets on.
Meanwhile, I’m 3D printing face shield components 24/7 to meet hospital demands.

Looks like that band of rain missed us for the most part. If nothing forms over the next hour trails should be G2G.
*heads to garage to prep the big bike*
ETA: son of a bitch
Ha! Yea I went and checked things out this morning then when I got inside it started raining. Bummer

Fyi, I’m not a trail steward. Just a volunteer and poster of trail conditions.

Figured I'd post a quick update on there...
Just ventured out and checked out 1/4 Notch and Picnic to use barometers for other trails. Still very tacky even in exposed areas with muddy sections. I didn't go far on either trail and was having plenty of dirt pickup on my tires.
I imagine with the temps today that 1/4 Notch and other rocky composition trails will be g2g or close to g2g later in the afternoon. I would be surprised if trails aren't g2g tomorrow morning, but personally I'd recommend holding off today to minimize trail erosion/damage.
I do plan to go out again after work today to see how things are progressing. If anything changes I'll let you all know.

Ha! Good luck fitting your car in my driveway. Seriously though, Dodge Cattle is a good place to park for night riding.
