  1. I support my local shop with many small things and always when I’m stumped on something or need a fork/shock service. Honestly a little mechanical aptitude, can do attitude, YouTube, $150 worth of bike specific tools acquired over the years and a 6pack of beer on a Sunday afternoon and I can pretty much do >90% myself.

Found a pair of prescription glasses in a black Smith case at the sports complex parking lot today at noon. Live an hour away so we dropped em off at the peddler on our way out of town. 1052f4f3bf0eff9d554b245d500c728a.jpg

Saw peddler post that on Instagram. Hope you find the owners.

Big crowds this morning. One was north of 20 people, maybe north of 30. Wasn’t feeling too good this morning on the bike but somehow had a huge PR on Mulligan. Trails are riding good. I’ll have wheels down about 7am tomorrow at walnut.

  3. Might I also suggest to look into a different LBS. Peddler Bike Shop will get you on a bike you love from their fleet for a great deal and are genuinely there to help you as a customer.

In terms of other mid travel 29ers I suggest the transition smuggler be on your list.

  4. My bikes as I have progressed in the sport over the last 10 years. Only one not pictured is the Trek Stache I had for about a year about the same time as the purple Remedy. The Scott Genius and the Scott Scale are my current rides.

I look back back at the Gary fisher and the Trek Xcal 8 and wonder how I ended up here.

  5. I had my genius in the back of the truck. Didn’t even know they were going to be there. That said, I’ve been itching to get back on a 29er after being strictly on 27.5 for over a year. It helped solidify my mindset as to why I love the 27.5. So much easier to get going and rail whatever. I’m not a big human at 5’9 190# and had a hard time in tight spots on that big ass bike.

Is it through one of the local bike shops? How long are they planning to be over there? I wouldn't mind checking one out but not if I have to pay to ride it.

Just rode their long travel 29er free of charge. Not through a shop. Just there traveling back from outerbike in Bentonville.

Are you sure? I think that part of that same event ran a couple of weekends ago, and they were still open for riding. Not sure I would want to be out there dodging bullets, but hey, when a guy's got to ride!

You’re right. I’ll shoot an email over to them and see what the deal is. My buddy was Arizona amateur mountain biker of the year, so when I say he is willing to dodge bullets, he really is.

no way. i went and looked yesterday and every trail i looked at had mud within a minute on trail. Not good to just walk around either because that widens the trails footprint. 360/2222 - 4 corners is bet bet

I rode 2+ hours at pedernales on Sunday and it was overall good to go, outside of the top of the madrone trail. Might just be going back there Saturday morning.

  9. I’m taking a friend from out of town on a ride Saturday morning. Was hoping to catch a couple hours at both brushy and walnut to show him the real local stuff

The weather looks like it’s going to clear up Wednesday night and Thursday. Think either brushy and/or walnut will be in good enough shape by Saturday at daybreak?

Unfortunately it looks like RPR is closed for a shooting event, and pace bend is currently closed for flooding.

    Thanks for any input.

It rained for a few minutes while we were out there - not enough to create any mud but enough to create some slick spots. We didn't even ride Deception or Rim as a result of that. Snail and Picnic were in perfect condition. The east side of Peddlers was perfect but the west side had a few slick spots. Seems like the sun has been out ever since, and as long as it doesn't rain anymore it should be fine tomorrow. However, the forecast is for more rain later today and tomorrow.

Thanks. Crankin and I got rained on after about an hour at Pace Bend. Lots of riders coming in when we left waiting on it to stop. Was going to be slick as hell out there after that heavy of a rain.

  11. Hey people.

Just found this website. Pretty active rider around Austin and ride brushy a few times a month. Been off the bike for 2 weeks as of now since I beat up my hip (at brushy) and also because the rain has been relentless.

Hope to get some miles in real soon again. I'm always a solo rider on either my 27.5+ scott scale or my 27.5+ scott genius. Hope to see some of you guys around.
