  1. Thanks for all the great input everyone. Our next step will be getting some quality women's cycling shorts and getting the sit bone seat measurement thingy done.
Cody,I understood where you were coming from, it's a very delicate situation trying to encourage your wife to start exercising. With any new activity a person will have aches and pains at first. Deciphering weather it's a newby issue or equipment issue is the key.

  2. I'm looking for a better more comfy bike saddle for wife. I reluctantly bought her the big ole wide jel-filled saddle she wanted knowing that wasn't the right answer. We went out Saturday for a 6+ mile ride on an easy trail with lots of breaks. She had a good time but the next day realized the squishy seat, well, left a lot to be desired.

    What do you ladies recommend?

  3. I've had great success with the bacon strips, 4 so far. The orange sealant wouldn't stop the leak at all. As far as carrying an extra tube, more times than not, by the time I've carried the extra tube for hundreds of miles it inevitably winds up having a hole from my seat bag or the threads on the valve stem have rubbed a hole in it.
I can imagine in the future only using a bit of sealant to seat a new tire and then only using the strips for punctures.

  4. In eleven years of riding I've seen 2 coral snakes on the GB, ran over a rattler on the southie trails, 5 or 6 rat snakes, and just a week ago i stopped under the manchaca bridge to wizz and  looked down and one foot was almost on top of a hognose.  Also, a cotton mouth at the crossing by the chain  on the GB.

  5. Ugh, is that rock sitting at the bottom part of the upper ledge?  I know this spot well.  Kind of surprised it took someone this long to...modify it.

I noticed that the day it was moved. The CCCA(I think that's the group name) guys we're working near there that day. They do some goofy rock work sometimes.

  6. Yesterday between escarpment and la crosse I ran over this bad boy. It was 4:30pm and he was stretched across the trail. He coiled up when I walked back to kill him. Luckily my buddy was a better rock chunker than I was. It was close to the big boulders along that trail.
