Here is another one I filmed. It shows speed a little better. But again thats not showing the approach which you need most.

Here is my first attempt at it. I hit it a bit faster than really needed. The right speed up top is scary cause it almost feels too slow. Not sure if this helps. I know someone else with a different video from up top. It shows speed better. I'll see if I can get itCould someone give me a pointer on how fast to take the biggest drop at Snail? I'm obviously not looking for any specific speed, but perhaps relative speed you would use for this drop compared to the speed required to clear the lip on the other two bigger drops at Snail would be helpful.I really don't want to do this drop, but I think I must in order to shut my son up. Last couple of times we hit Snail, he's been bugging me about this drop. I just don't have a good sense for how fast I should take it to clear the muck without turning it into a 10 or 11 foot drop to a nearly flat area.

Looking for a rear wheel for kids bike. 20in. Buddies wife ran just wheel over.

For sure changes. Ledges that were 6 inches are like 18 inches. Crevices between rocks that had small rocks and dirt are just deeper crevices ..etc....way back 2012ish I could ride Deception (1/4 notch) on my Cross\gravel grinder bike. there's no way now, either i'm just too soft now or there've been a lot of changes over the years

Someone once said Deception (O.G name for entire trail) is only ¹/⁴ NOTCH harder than Walnut. But dont feel bad I think he was just jelly. Double Down has gotten harder over the years as well due to erosion and compaction.Every time I start feeling comfortable at Walnut and like a badass I go out to double down and realize I still suck

Height of drops is measured lip to lip (if there is a transition lip) otherwise just vertical height . 1. The biggest one there (far left with the wood ramp as a b line option) is 8 ft lip to lip and 8 ft Mandatory gap needed to clear. It's called Randy's Elbow it's an 8x8. If you over clear you can easily drop 10 to 12 ft. 2. The new one that crosses the O.G dual drops has a gentle sloping transition. So vertical height is about 4 ft. But the transition makes it bigger if you hit it at speed.what height would these new drops be considered on snail? like the one that crosses over the middle now, the elbow one and the one on high line. I'm guessing the original drops down the middle line are considered 2 footers?3. The shorter new drop near end of high line is 5 ft lip to lip and it has a non Mandatory to clear gap of about 6ft. It drops off quick once you make it to tranny and can get you more drop height IF speed can be maintained which is currently hard to do.
4. The O.G drops are 2 ft and 18 inches.

That spot has an update planned. It is tough if you aren't real comfortable leaning bike real hard to keep off brakes.Rode the fun stuff today on snail. Good work all involved! Hit everything on high line but had a lot of trouble cornering out of the last berm before the second drop to carry enough speed to clear the knuckle. Also hit randys elbow on the new Enduro bike and used every bit of the 170mm of travel!

Cool. If you dont own a chainsaw and larger than a small 10in bar is needed let me know. ThnxI’m about to head out. Will try to take care of that tree in Quarter Notch

Ok. I'm at work tomorrow for 24 hrs But I'll take my chainsaw out and get it . Or ask around if anyone else can. It’s only about an 1/8 of a mile in on the east 1/4 Notch entrance. I just checked it out myself but didn’t take my phone with. Worked on it some with the pathetic tools I have but didn’t make much of a dent. Chainsaw would make quick work of it.

Yea just saw that tree. That’s going to take some work.
How far in? Any pics?D, Picnic and Snail are GTG. There is a big tree down at the beginning of D on the east side.

Good strategy all around. Was out walking the regional trail with the wife and took her to see the reason I bought a bigger bike (new stuff on snail). It looked like it may be okay by late afternoon today. Picnic looked like it won't be good to go until tomorrow. There were alot of riders out on both unfortunately. Just as a PSA I would suggest definitely scoping out all the lines on snail comprehensively before riding. There was a teenager riding the wrong way on the new big drop/jump line. I politely told him it was a one way trail, and tried to get the point across the what he was doing was extremely dangerous for him and any oncoming riders. I don't think it had any effect though.

Depends when you last looked at it. It is much mellower from a few months ago. You can case or huck to flat and be ok. Just dont be the pull up and dead fish guy trying to make it to the transition in lieu of lack of speed.I rolled up to that drop before I got injured and wasn't willing to do it. The landing looked really short and steep and I was afraid of overshooting it. Wouldn't mind having someone pull me in once I get better though.Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

@HoneyBadger THATS THE VIDEO YOU CHOOSE!? What about all the successful runs from people who dont pull up off a drop and dead fish. Haha

It's extremely unlikely. Snail is in a water runoff ditch essentially... and... there is ample room for the access road before it even touches the trail. At worse I think the line that goes up concrete drainage might be affected.with all the hard work going on...I remember coming across this awhile back and thinking snail trail would go away... hope that is not the case

I assume you are talking about the shorter wood drop that sends you over the trail and into a bowl to a step up to the wall ride. Some folk have issue carrying enough speed through the switch berms. So there is a bypass that cuts out the first berm and drops you straighter into the feature to help with making it to the transition.By the way.. the transition is scary with that thingSent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

That is indeed a cool find. What are you gonna start the bidding at cause you know I want it.Cool find yesterday while building on Snail Trail...a fossil of a large snail (not joking, actually happened, charging block for size comparison).Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Yea it definitely Sat too long without wheels on it. And now with this pandemic no one wants to host a group event to make it more known to public. Word of mouth on social media will be the only thing that can draw people in now. I'd also suggest writing to the county or park staff and ket them know you specifically enjoy the flow trail and hope to see more of it. The more they hear that the better.Rode the new Flow Trail a few times at Reimers on Saturday and it was a blast! I was able to hit everything except the last big gap which looks to be 12+ feet by my estimation. After the ride I was kicking myself for not hitting everything, but I just wasn't feeling it so I chickened out on the last feature. As stated in an earlier post, the trail needs some wheels on it. Even though it opened recently, you can tell it's been sitting there a while. The return trail is a mellow climb of just over a mile, which makes sessioning the Flow Trail bearable.
The MTB parking lot was absolutely packed by 9am, so there's tons of people going to ride out there. However, we only saw 1 other person riding the Flow Trail while we were in the area. Happy to have more and more options like this in the area. Hopefully the county will follow through with the master plan for this area.
