Did the Enduro climb up Mont Sainte Anne. Pretty tired but the fall scenery was amazing. Looking forward to the next couple of weeks.
Didn't they just have some world cup action up that way? Pretty sure I saw a selfie of Emily Batty after a nasty looking spill.

These guys are the equivalent of the companies designing the proprietary in-vehicle navigation systems. When everyone carries a smartphone, nobody uses the in-vehicle nav very often because it has shitty usability and relies on out of date technology.
Rather a sweeping generalization. My built-in nav works just great, and I use it on every road trip.

Aren't you near Phil's World? Just go hang out at the trailhead with a cooler of beer, some weed, and a wireless hotspot!

Lake Atalanta seems to often get overlooked. I think is a blast. Probably only around 15 miles of trail absolute max but I like to do loops on my favorite stuff and usually end up with 20 miles or so. Nice to have a level lake (where I usually park) to spin around to warm up/cool down too. Also, I get bored before a half a lap of any pump/jump track but I can spend some time at the Railyard. Paved/wood jumps and lines from toddler to expert. The trails don't seem to get as much maintenance (maybe because of the location or it is City of Rogers?) but I think it is well worth a visit. As a bonus Ozark Beer Company is right by the trailhead, I usually pick up a sample twelve pack and enjoy a few on the porch. Good quick ride on the arrival day or in the morning before heading home.
Lake Atalanta is fun, fairly climby with a great downhill run in it, and I recall quite a good brewery, as well as a bike shop with beer on tap.

Wash your mouth out, sir - this is an Austin forum.

“Also, a keg (or kegs?) have been donated by a rider-owned local brewery-in-transition with leftover stock.”
Got it - I’ll bring some decent beer.

I rode this the other week on my SS 29'er...it's totally doable on a bike and is a good workout for sure. My wheel base is a bit long for really getting going on it I think, but it's still fun!
I couldn't find the damn thing - where is it, exactly?

Is there still a daily land use fee?

>If an e-bike will keep me riding challenging trails with the younger groups when I'm in my 60s, so be it.
Don't sell yourself short - George Dawkins keeps up with the group at age 80-something on his e-bike, and I sure I hope I'm doing the same in 30 years!

I'm late to the party on this one, and is often the case, I purchased a higher-end option - SRAM AXS wireless dropper for my singlespeed. Not cheap, but boy, is it precise and so nice not to have cabling and zip ties all over the place.

Realized I hadn’t given an update in a while. Been in Salida the last couple of weeks, some lovely rides up on the Crest. Put on a big Indian food cookout at Absolute Bikes this evening - nice to run into Hill Abell!
We just booked a rental in Colorado Springs for next week - doing our damndest to stay away from the furnace ….

I just believe the the solid use cases are not on the trails. Urban commuting, delivery, replacing gas scooters, and now military. These are all good uses.
What about ol George Dawkins? He rides a power-assisted Specialized several days a week, and he’ll tell you he probably wouldn’t be out there if it wasn’t for the pedal assist.

Sold our place, and closing at 830 tomorrow. Then on our way to Quebec to buy a house and hunker down until next year.

We have a friend in Houston - in fact, we helped sponsor his daughter on the annual Austin to Alaska UT ride - who is Swiss, and did his mandatory national service in the 1970s as a part of the two-wheeled division ... whatever it is called. He recently found one of those Swiss Army singlespeeds in great shape, and brought it over to the US. Here's a recent pic.

Doing something similar, but in a different direction. Currently in Angel Fire for a few days, then Ouray/Telluride, and eventually Salida. Taking advantage of many of the XC trails and downhill parks along the way. Hopefully no bears!

This was his last act of attrition prior to abandoning us to the whims of the the air fryer that is Central Texas 🥵 while he luxuriates in the mountainous clime 🥶 of Angel Fire for the next couple of months.
Best wishes on the retreat to the Land of Enchantment, amigo.
Speaking of air fryers -- I'll be up there with him for some of that time 🙂

That age old question rears its head once again ... "is Walnut dry?"
-
It was probably really humid in the green belt, even if you didn't think so. I have been limiting my riding to places like Suburban Ninja and Brushy, and hillsides along the 360 and 620 corridors - a little bit of a breeze and some elevation really seem to make a difference. Still try and hit SATN once a week, too.

Having spent a lot of time in Berlin, Dresden and other East German cities, I can say that the number of Porters that I have had is <checks notes>, um, zero.
All of the Porters that I have had in Europe have been almost exclusively in England and Scotland. Germany has a ton of great beers but I would be looking for dunkels, lagers and pils in Germany. If I wanted something more substantial I'd go for their "heavy beers", basically anything ending in "tor" like a good Spaten Optimator.
A Cold War Porter! Isn't that like ... having a chunk of the Berlin Wall?

Pretty sure Endurarace is hosting a TMBRA race out there.
