142 miles in slightly longer than the average EB time? Hmmmmm

Well first of all, I wouldn't compare Peyton to an 'average' EB time -- I'd compare him with the fastest. Some numbers for you: this year's fastest elapsed time was a tad over 7 hours, at an average speed of ~11.5 mph. Peyton's elapsed time was over 17 hours, with an average speed of 10.5 mph, so quite comparable in my view.

Not of course, that you are implying something is up with his posted Strava track ...

Did you move down south?  I remember 2010 EB someone yelling your name at a house on Shoal Creek.  Good times!

Nope, but a lot of the folks I enjoyed hanging with at R&I started to ride south instead.

I plan to show up for the season closer this Tuesday - I have some beer and food left over from the EB to serve up.

Why? Isn't the point of the EB to ride a bunch of legal trails? Why not post stuff about it?

The point is the size of the group riding across the parklands, and indeed along the roadways. Believe you me, this is not an event you want to be told you need a permit for.

I always advise at least giving it a shot with insurance before committing to paying out of pocket. You would be surprised to what I've seen bought, all depends on what insurance company you have and how the field adjuster is feeling that day. You don't need a roofer present for the adjuster meeting and it typically will not affect your policy if you file a claim and it is denied. Again, I can pull a hail report for you if you would like. Its free and I promise I'm not trying to sell you a roof, I'm booked months out right now. It will tell you what wind/hail events you have had at your address for the last 10 years

Back when we had ours done, there had been some minor hail event in the area, and we learned that a few neighbors had called their insurance companies and were getting new roofs. We called, not expecting much - fellow came over, took one look and said 'yup, new roof for you'. So def worth the call!

20 years…lots of iterations and lots of faces, but still the longest going unofficial official year round ride I know of! Need to get lights together so I can hopefully start making it again.

I used to enjoy the 'end of season' celebrations, even though we all knew we would see one another the following week. That, by the way, makes next Tues the 'last' R&I of the season. I don't go as often now - it's changed a lot since traffic got so bad that a large group now rides down south instead. But hey, I'll try and make next week with the grill - weather looks to be good.

    Just an update:

on behalf of Austin Ridge Riders, I worked with  a Travis County grants writer to apply for a State grant to finish out the flow trail system at Reimer’s (four downhill trails and one return).  We won the $200K grant!   (There is not a specific date though to get started planning and building).

It’s a great shame that the Austin Ridge Riders seem to have no social media presence whatsoever.

Tony 😄, I am not upset at all. Very calm. Just put off that you would not believe what I am saying. Even now, you say, "if it is truly a mono-directional trail system," even after my post that I said I just called the park to confirm the fact. (That is IF I really called 🙄) But I didn't even call just to confirm. I mostly called just to ask where that fact is stated and where we can post a sign."

I don't not believe you - it's simply my recollection that signage at Reimers is a stake in the ground with a color and a small arrow. If you are meant to ONLY ride it in that direction, it's probably worth stating as such on the sign -- same as with any trail system. Not that I have ever seen anyone ride it the other way, but you know there are people out there who will.

I am vaguely aware of that and very grateful of it. I was referring to the lack of current information about the route and it's direction. I looked up the last time I was there, March 28 of this year, and it appears that I rode it the direction as it appears on Trailforks. According to Tip's recent route, I rode the whole thing backwards. I don't remember any directional signs at the time.

You had me at ‘Trailforks’. Who knows who submitted that loop. Or perhaps it is listed?

pertaining to a different discussion, do you expect a government entity to be concise, timely, and thorough with public information?

Reimers is a little unique: we voted on the purchase - before your time, possibly - and the trail system, as well as the rock climbing, the horsey stuff and the river access - were all firmly established. Ol Milton made it very clear that all of this was to remain.

Thanks for making me question my "opinion" about the park. Y'all are probably right. I guess I haven't learned a thing about Reimer's in the 60-70 hours of work I've done out there. The park employees I've worked with probably don't know anything either. (sheez)

BUT SERIOUSLY, I just called the park to tell them there might be confusion on this topic. He said, "Really? But there's arrows on all the new signs! And "Do Not Enter" signs as well."

We decided that a more in your face notice will be put on the NEW COOL KIOSK that has just recently been installed at the mountain biking parking lot trail head that will more forcefully educate the public.

I think you should calm down a little. 99.99% of riders ride it as signposted. However, if it is truly a mono-directional trail system, it is worth informing users of that.
