So let's see if I understand:

Pegs: Yes. Helmet: No = Street BMX

Pegs: No. Helmet: Yes = Trials

    Your forgetting the:

    no brakes= street BMX

    Super powerful brakes= street trials.

The no helmet/helmet thing has to do with sound judgment! which alot of pro street style athletes don't seem to have. Talking skate boarding, bikes, and parkour.

Some Austin clips. And that thing at the end!

The progression of street BMX over the last 20 years is absolutely insane! Especially considering the technology of the equipment has essentially not changed as it has in mountain biking.

Hardly - I don’t think “enduro” and “uphill challenge” are ever likely to be found in the same sentence, let alone the same event.

I got to agree with Seth, I’m a very casual racer and am happy to race anything with 2 wheels. I’ve done 24 hr race (2 man team and 4 man, I’m not a sadist), and a 100 mile mtb race before and it maybe that this is the most recent experience (the pain your in now is always more than the pain you were in, in the past), but the o’rock epic enduro is currently in my memory as the most grueling race I’ve ever done! Just my 2 cents.

The Peddlers folks are aware of the hole/cave in.  As they are clearing trees from the trail and addressing other maintenance issues, they will address the hole issue.  Not sure if they are posting trail work times; you'd have to contact them.

They should build a caldera jump! Probably would take about as much work as filling it in, and then I would have a good excuse to keep using that word on a semi-regular basis😁

Shopped at the Parmer location for the first time time after the transition. I called ahead to find a 7 speed master link, they said they were out but had a SRAM chain for $16. Not too bad. I showed up after work and they sold out of the SRAM but they had a Shimano for $24. He priced matched the SRAM without me even asking because he remembered that I had called ahead.

It was also the first time I had been in the store because when it was BSS they were doing business from the sidewalk.

I stop by yesterday to see if they were still allowing voting for the $10k they were giving to a local cycling organization, since most of the voting was during the winter stormzilla! They weren’t but still had some of the swag shirts they were giving away and I score one. I thought that was pretty cool. The store was just slightly different, but still had the same basic vibe.

  6. They are pretty awesome looking. They are expensive! And looking at them I don’t think they are overpriced, just an expensive luxury item I can’t justify owning. Now I just need a rich friend that likes hucking things randomly🤣

Cool.. so whats the difference between trails 1 through 6?

#5 has some good flowy berms and a really well built table top that the speed you carry into it is perfect to clear it and it was hardtail friendly (that's what I was on today). For the rest someone else can probably give you a better description as I haven't ridden them since they have been labled, but I'll take a guess. I figure #1 is likely the new wooden roll in with the wood berm that drops you into what use to be the old right line. #2 is likely the old left line that you can also split off to Randy's elbow. #3 would then be the newish big line with the big drop to steep step up to another big drop and step up, to big wooden berm to steep roll out to end of trail. #4 would then be the old return route that is no longer a return (I should have checked that one out). #5 as above. #6 Didn't realize there was a #6 unless it's the new return route.

Someone let me know how close I am to correct or how wrong I am!

    Thanks!

Sure thing, when do you need them?

No rush, I’ve had the paint and clear coat carted since you started this thread and haven’t ordered yet. Figure I’ll order today just so I can start sometime this spring before the temps consistently get above 75 degrees.

Got the vinyl decals on and two clear coats. Planning on assembly next weekend (instructions says 7 days for full cure).

I'm slightly regretting not doing anything with the wheels or fork other than cleaning them. But I can always change it later.

That looks awesome! Would you be willing to loan me your 3D printed frame inserts for when I paint my son frame?

  10. This is truly a question for learning purposes and not a jab at either side of the energy extremes and brought to mind by the previous landfill comment. Are the massive amounts of batteries that are currently required for electric cars recyclable or are we going to have the same problem we’re having with old smart phones 5-10 years down the line?

No idea. Amazon says the V6 has a 4.3 rating and the Stolen has a 3.8, so who knows. I do know the reviews on the Stolen say rebuild/repack them before use. I'll pump them full of white lithium before we mount them.

Last order, spokes, placed today. my bank card can take a holiday.

Silly, but he is getting tubeless as valve stems were cheaper than 24x2.3 presta tubes.

Not silly at all. My daughter is tubeless and I can’t wait to get my two younger ones tubeless, because I’m tired of patching slow leaks every two or three rides from small and sometimes large thorns. The primary place I take them for a quick after work rides is full of pointy things.

Dang this build is getting pricey. I had forgotten how all the little things add up. Thankfully lots of free parts and a handful of stuff from my parts bin. Pics next week when it all arrives.

    • GT Scamp 24" disc frame
    • Fox Float R 80mm
    • XT 10spd (11-40)
    • SR Suntour Zeron 152mm 30t
    • Hope Tech EVO brakes 160/140
    • Carbon post/bars, generic stem, grips
    • SDG Jr Saddle
    • Wheels: Velocity Dyad rims, Sapim Race spokes, Novatec hubs (6 pawl), Probably Maxxis Minion DHF/DHR 2.4/2.3
    • KMC gold chain
    • King headset (parts bin)

Kid sure as hell better like it. Had to start ordering parts from my side account so the wife wouldn't get on me about the cost. Better sell some plasma.

What pedals are you running? I tried to go cheap and bought DMR V6 and they are complete crap and huge. I now am waiting for the SDG slater kid pedals to get here. Lesson learned!

I snuck a lot of parts in on the Christmas bonanza and spread out the buying to keep the questioning by the better half to a minimum🤣

  14. They are giving away $5k to a local cycling group, and choosing by vote of people who stop by one of their stores from Feb 6-21st. Even if your not a member of ARR I would encourage everyone on this forum to swing by and cast a vote for ARR as they do a ton to keep our local trails open! (Probably preaching to the choir here😁)

I started bolting stuff to the frame, but I like this approach more. I'll build the wheels and cut and bleed brakes before hand, but then make the Boy come hang out with me while we build it all up.

The only downside I had to her building, is she got to pick the garage music and so there was a lot of Adele and kids bop🤣

It wouldn’t have to be much. I’m pretty sure all i9 wheels are hand built. So maybe the fact that “a batch” was bad according to i9 means they had a builder who is likely not employed there any longer. The “s” level wheels use the same aluminum rims as their bling system wheels. So I’m pretty sure it was just builder error.

Have to agreed here! I have a set of i9 backcountry torch wheels and weigh 220lbs and they are likely the best built wheels I’ve owned.  I’ve bent the spokes with large rocks flipping up from my plus tires and the wheel has remained true. I’d definitely shoot them an email or give a call and bet they would make it right.
