So... Basically you can't actually provide any useful "...much better sources..." at this time.

    Okay then.

And FYI... After looking at the video presentation, I then went and took a look at various things they presented... On other source sites. Can't say I found anything that pointed to what I saw presented as be "...conspiracy theory nonsense...".

But maybe you can be specific as to what you saw in the video as being "...conspiracy theory nonsense...".

Out of curiosity, what sources do you consider "much better"? Which ones might tell a different story?

As far as i can tell, the trail is open? All the individual parks are closed, but you should still be able to park by the damn. Maybe try and call.

Please be aware, facilities at this location are closed. This includes facilities like visitor centers, entrance kiosks, museums and more. Keep in mind, trails and roads may be open for use. Local managers are committed to the health and safety of recreational visitors and our staff. We are following the guidelines from our agency and the CDC regarding COVID-19, closely monitoring the situation and responding to current conditions. Please contact the local facility before your visit for details and continue to monitor this page for status updates.

Overlook? The gate is locked and there’s a sign posted. I saw it as I drove by. Best bet is to park outside cedar breaks.

I’ve been five or six times and always end up riding the lift with someone who has driven a long way to get there. Seems like a lot of their traffic is out-of-towners which is cool. Dallas, Houston, Oklahoma, etc.

So far, I’ve met folks from San Antonio and Dallas. Not too far, but they had to make a weekend trip out of it.

Is there a trail from Suburban Ninja to Freeride512 Christ Church?

The easiest way is to park in the church parking lot. Then go toward the fire station. You’ll see a Jeep road off to your right. Take that Jeep road and you’ll see a singletrack trail that goes off to the right. It’s not easy to see. But, once you find it, you’re on the right track! It’ll take you to the top of the jump line.

As far as from sub ninja....it depends on where you’re coming from. It’s hard to explain. Easier for someone to show you. Sorry. Maybe someone has a better suggestion.

We're trying to do more with gifting experiences rather than material things.

So I'm thinking of getting my 12yo son a day pass at Spider Mountain.  Stocking stuffers maybe pegs for his BMX bike.

They just had a $100 gift card for $75. Or, a $50 gift card for $40. Expired dec 3rd at midnight. You might want to keep your eyes peeled for another discount. It’s usually totally worth the money!

  6. Speaking as a “bigger” guy who enjoys riding and would love some competition....what are the chances of having a heavy weight class? A few folks mentioned a tandem class last time, and a tandem class appeared. I know there’s quite a few guys that are 250+ on this forum that would love to compete! But, my 280+ body will never beat a 150lb dude in my age group. A “husky” class might be appropriate. It might motivate us heavier guys to train. I know I would sign up for it! Any other bigger guys interested? Just a suggestion....

  7. I’m amazed how many signs are still up on peddlers pass from the time trial. Makes me think, “how could anyone possibly go the wrong way?” Yet, today I encountered a couple of guys going the wrong way on the west side of parmer. I didn’t say anything to them since they looked like newbies. Guess I should’ve. The son (I assume) was bailing out, walking across the final berm coming out of the west side. I slammed on my brakes, skidding to a stop. He never looked my way.
What is the tactful way to tell someone they’re going the wrong way? I assume they got on the trail somewhere toward the middle (there isn’t much signage on the west side).

So far, at least at Brushy, I've only encountered non-leashed dogs. Their people tend to panic when they see a mountain bike coming towards them, but the dog's are usually out of the way on their own.

I second this. I usually aim for the dog being that they’re quicker at getting out of the way. Unless it’s a little fluffy dog.

I didn’t like it the first time I rode it. The berms were not near what I expected. It was bumpy. Still had lots of rocks. I was a little disappointed. But, I’ve ridden it a couple of times since then and, it’s settling in. Lines are starting to develop. Turns are smoother. It really starting to make sense. Give it some time. Wait a little bit and try it again. I wasn’t blown away at first. But I’ve liked it better every time I’ve ridden it.

Rode peddlers again today. Liked it even more today. There wasn’t any mud. No water in the rollers. The berms seemed smoother/faster. It’s getting better every time. Got a PR also. I’m impressed with all the work that’s been put into it. Good stuff!!

    Trigger warning:  Dissenting opinion

I rode the new Peddler yesterday for the first time, and the machine built stuff is boring.  It contrasts so sharply with the excellent hand built parts.  I'm confused because I've read so many positive opinions of the new stuff here.  I mean it's not even close.

My intent wasn't to make a trail sign to read at a glance. It was a WAY different approach. I tried to even place them in places where one could stop and read... maybe ponder if you will. I truly believe most people are good. And that most users modify the trail because they are naive and think that they are helping. Or that its ok because its public park land. That's what the WARNING is at the top for. It will make people stop and read. I couldn't care less about getting more people to help out. Its managed just fine as is. (Disclaimer... the last year has been challenging with a newborn but I will maintain as the trail deserves once I can again... and I appreciate all those who step up to help) oh....The email is there in small type for a reason as well.  Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

When I saw the sign here, my eyes were drawn to the “turn back now”. That in itself would make me stop and read the sign.

He never showed me any damage.  IF I hit his wheel it was in a totally unweighted way. I’m not justifying my actions.  I understand his being pissed.

He tracked me down to yell, but for me the disturbing part is how he skidded his truck at me into the grass and onto the BCRT with other people around at the Lake Park. If he miscalculates, I’m run over along with another pedestrian. I admit that my failed hopping of his wheel was kind of a dick move and that he should keep the trail clear, but to react the way he did was completely over the top.  It’s the kind of thing people do and then regret after they ruin lives.

I certainly regret it. It could have ruined my kids’ lives....or certainly been a lifelong downer.

Sounds like he got himself a new bike. And he was pissed when you weren't impressed. Some people.... Glad nobody got hurt.

    *please read*

ok. This is all 100% how it happened...

i was riding E to W on the regional trail just before start of gumdrop by olson meadows. A guy on a bike was coming the other way, and in my “lane” a guy had his yellow santa cruz laying on its side rear 1/2 out in the regional trail. I tried to be cool and bunny hop his wheel. I guess I failed. I thought I cleared it. I didn’t feel anything.

He, the owner of the yellow Santa Cruz, probably in his 50s driving a bigass white Dodge Dually truck literally comes skidding at me as I’m coming off the dam at the Lake Park about to cross the parking lot road that goes between the kayak ramp and the exit. He was lined up to Tbone me and stopped about 4-5ft from me.

He proceeds to open his door, not get out, but yell at me about how I ran over his spokes. I said I hopped it, and I told him to get his bike the fuck out of the trail. I told him he almost ran over me. He responded by screaming, “well that’s what you did to my spokes!”

I am pretty sure that threatening my life with your truck in a populated park is not warranted for running over your spokes. If anyone knows who this guy is, or if you, sir, are reading this, please get help.

It was obvious to me during our brief encounter that you really are an unhappy person with irrational anger issues. I apologize for being shitty at bunny hopping. I also know I didn’t damage your wheel as I am certain you’d have told me. I’m still used to thinking hardtail so sometimes I lag. Be careful folks.

So again, white guy, silver hair, big white dodge dually, yellow santa cruz. I didn’t get his plates, but I’m sure he probably rides Brushy often. Hitting your rear wheel in a failed hop was uncool of me. Threatening my life, less cool.

Did he ever show you his bike and the damage? Or, did he just track you down to yell at you?
