  1. I'm really diggin' Line#6 on Snail. Big props to whoever laid down that new track! I'm not a big fan of skinnies, but that one is really well designed. It's wide enough to limit failures but high enough to make you pay the price if you do fail. I haven't actually tried it yet but I've been really enjoying the obstacles on the alt line to the left of the skinny. Love the little rock stack feature further down as well, right before you drop into the little dip. And then that massive G-out towards the end is exhilarating. Nicely done!

  2. Finally got around to trying the GD BIB. It is an age-stated, 13-yr Tennessee Whisky (100 proof) for under $50. I missed out on the batch distilled in 2005 (bottled in 2019) because by the time I sought it out, it was only available at around $100. Now the 2021 release is available in abundance at retail or near retail, with only minor tweaks according to their master distiller, Nicole Austin. Carries a fabulous nose, and delivers the kind of warmth you generally get only from higher-proof offerings, along with a really solid bourbon taste. Get it while you can!

OK, let me start by stating I am not anti vax I have been vaccinated. I have also had the virus, Delta strain. I'd also like to say that you do whatever you feel is best for you. But this is information that the mainstream sources have not really promoted. If you watch the video you will see how certain points are omitted and how the main goal is for people to get boosters. Meanwhile there are medical experts that have different opinions. Just some food for thought. So in this The NY Times is stating that boosters may have negative effect on your immune system in one statement but then in another they say go get the booster. This is why I have no faith in the mainstream media or the information that we are being fed. We need to get information from sources that have no dog in the fight. Granted Jimmy can be polarizing and his YouTube channel is how he makes money, but you can't argue with Dr. Campbell his channel is not monetized so he has no agenda aside from educating people with valid information.

I couldn't get past the first minute with this guy. Campbell is a good source of information, but I'm not drawing the same conclusions from his research that this guy is. For me it comes down to 1) believing that we are in fact dealing with a global pandemic, and 2) agreeing that attacking it head on is the best defense for the "greater good", while accepting some degree of risk in the process.

I'd wait to get jabbed for as long as you feel comfortable and see how things play out.

We're going to go ahead and get boosted since we're no longer having any symptoms. Politics and profiteering aside, really just comes down to whether we believe the vaccine / booster affords us enhanced protection or not. Based on the available data and our own personal experiences, we believe that the vaccine / booster is still the best way forward. Getting my third Pfizer jab tomorrow at Randalls and will report back on any ill effects.

Speaking of wellness, hoping to get out for a nice ride this afternoon. Been trapped up for far too long over the holidays!

I got Pfizer for the first and second round, Moderna booster. While I know I am not bulletproof, this gives me peace of mind that if or when I get it, it most likely won't kill me. It's going to suck and I'm more worried about "long covid" and spreading it to others if I don't know I am contagious. still not messing around in public: masks whenever possible, not going to crowded bars and such. while I like to curse our hot climate here, I'm enjoying the mild winter so far.

Several family members in other states have gotten covid. one died in October from it. the one who died refused to get vaccinated for stupid reasons. everyone else just had what felt like a really crappy flu.

That's really unfortunate about your family member. I have a family member that is anti-vax and an ardent supporter of multiple conspiracy theories. He was down for 7 weeks with COVID, and even after seeing other vaccinated family members suffer only mild symptoms, he's still not a believer in the vaccine.

The confusion is that the ambiguous adjective comes up often when there is a conjunction trying to join two nouns and using a split adjective. The way this is structured, the "port" adjective is isolated from the noun.

And yet you were the only one confused, even after a second explanation from the author. The beauty of discussion threads is that the thread itself carries context that keeps the messaging clear. In a case like this, you would have had to intentionally ignore key context to misunderstand the meaning of the multiple messages. There are names for people who would do that just to make a grammatical point, and none of those names would likely have been part of Sister Anne Stephanie's vocabulary.

I could have been hallucinating but I think the barb wire from the fence on double down is gone. When I looked I only saw the poles.

You weren't hallucinating. I paid particular attention today, having recalled this post. There appear to be some remnants of the original barbed-wire fence in spots, but that section at the bottom of the short plunge that always left you wondering what if, is nothing but posts now. Hopefully nobody gets impaled on one of those.

  8. Curious how many folks who've been vaccinated / boosted succumbed to this latest wave of COVID? Our entire household is fully vaccinated but only my mother-in-law who is here visiting had been boosted. Anyway, our 25-yr old attended some sort of event, ended up getting COVID and passing it along to the rest of us. We all only experienced mild symptoms, including my mother-in-law who is high-risk. I'm scheduled to get my booster next week, but now I'm wondering if I should wait a while since I probably got an immunity boost from the COVID infection.

    Don’t fence me in.

I've only had one encounter with barbed wire. As a teen growing up in Akron, OH, we used to regularly sneak into concerts at Blossom Music Center. The place was surrounded by forest, and it was a simple matter of being willing to crawl through a ravine, select an opening into the venue, and quickly mingle into the crowd. Then one year they decided to erect a barbed wire fence around the entire perimeter. Determined not to be denied an opportunity to see Sha Na Na, we attempted to scale the fence. My buddies cleared it and dashed in, but I got hung up in the barbed wire at the top of the fence. As the cops rushed towards me, I leapt down to the ground, ripping a huge gash across my inner arm. Adding insult to injury, the cops maced me before recognizing the extent of my injury. Not sure what was worse, getting maced or seeing my parents faces when they picked me up at the Emergency Room after getting stitched up.

    Don't fence me out!

Dude, that is so MOJO.   T'aint a full suspension,  it's a rigid hardtail and and not for super steep technical climbing and will have a fairly upright riding position.

Sorry about that. I was responding directly to ATXZJ's comment about needing a minimum 76 STA on a FS bike.

Anyway, the topic of my post may be a moot point because "Santa" may have ordered the HT w/ the 73.2 degree seat tube angle. We'll see what happens and I'll let y'all know.

Joking aside, I was serious about the art of climbing and how with old-school geo it was essential to scoot forward in the saddle on long, sustained climbs. When I was racing XC on my Orbea Alma HT in the Cascades, some of those races started with a 5-mi or more climb. I'd find that forward position in the saddle where there was just enough weight on the rear-wheel to maximize traction, then bring my chest down and grind. Even being far forward on the saddle, it's actually not an uncomfortable position because your bike is pointing up and your pedals are supporting your weight. I think you will be just fine with 73.2 degree STA.

anyone have any GoPro- or Garmin-type spare mounts? my handlebar light has a Garmin interface on the bottom and came with this GoPro adapter. I'd like to mount the light higher and further forward on my handlebar, so a Garmin or GoPro interface on an extension would work.

I have a spare Wahoo mount, but that makes the light point 90° to one side, which is not very useful. the tabs on the bottom of the light head unit can be replaces with a Wahoo-oriented unit, but it cannot be rotated 90°.

Not sure if you got everything you needed, but I have this GoPro handlebar mount and related accessories that I used only once. Free for the taking if needed.
