If nothing comes up I'll plan to join you for a lap. I need more excuses to ride rather than work on trail. 😁

The only thing I have planned Friday is watching the second Starship orbital test flight. Launch window is 2 hours, starting at 0700.

Would be great to have someone to ride with!  Yeah, the OFT2 launch is an absolute must watch for me.  I'm actually considering driving down to Starbase.  But if not, I hope it goes up in the morning so I can ride in the afternoon.  I'll let you know what I end up doing.

  2. Great updates, thank you!  I had planned on going out there yesterday to take advantage of the beautiful weather (and figured it should have been dry enough), but discovered right before loading my bike onto my car that my rear brake wasn't working at all (lever all the way to the handlebar with no movement of calipers).  Was able to get it fixed, but not with enough time to head out to Smithville, so that will need to wait for another day.  Ended up riding Suburban Ninja instead. Look forward to soon enjoying everything out there and seeing everything new since my last visit!

There are several downed trees\branches on Lake Georgetown between Cedar Breaks and Tejas.  Whose permission\blessing do I need to clear this section?

Just read the post above and its sounds like Lee Compton is the guy to talk to.  Can someone PM his info?

    He's on Facebook:

That's a rather big section.  😄  I will send him a text and let him know, but if you want to do the work yourself, I'm sure he'd be happy to have the help, as long as you prune any branches down to their base and don't leave stumps.  And if you intend on using power tools, you'd definitely want to talk to him first.  Of course, you probably already know this.

  4. Yep, I completely missed this, as I was gone for two weeks and just got back Saturday night and have been super busy unpacking and getting things set back up so I can work.  Only knew this because someone mentioned it in a comment on Facebook!

Opened the new addition to Holdens Way today adding just shy of a half mile to the loop. Taking advantage of the outdoor air conditioning to push though and get 'er done.

That's awesome!  Is it in Trailforks yet?

RHR has officially reached the 16 mile loop goal, when ridden from the pavilion and back. That's 9.5 miles of new trail created over the past 16 months.

That's damned impressive, and I can really appreciate how much work that is.  I got 14.9 miles on my last visit in December.  Will definitely try to get back out there within the next week or two.

  6. I think when I first moved here in 1997, the trail was in the Clockwise direction, as I remember the last thing we always rode was the trail above the cliff that dumps into the parking lot.  And of course this is how I've most recently ridden it (although not in the last two years).  Will be curious to see how it rides in the CCW direction again.

  7. Yeah, I'd really like to see a signed route out there that includes everything, to make it easier to follow.  It's not bad if you're actively using Trailforks, but that obviously slows you down as you have to stop and reference your phone to do that.  Especially given how significantly everything's changed in the past few years. 🙂
