  1. If you ordered from ChainReaction, that is where they're located. Bought a set of tires from there. Pretty decent price. Shipping took...a while. When it got here, shipping box looked like it was losing competitor in a Lucha Libre match. Glad I did not order anything delicate or prone to smash damage.

I started mountain biking because of that park and McAllister when I lived in San Antonio. OP is in the middle of a very long trail system along Leon Creek. There's a paved path and tons of trails along it. Nothing very technical. Not sure if it's worth driving all the way to SA, but fun for certain. You can also check out McAllister Park and Salado Creek trails while you're there.

Used to live, more or less, across the street from there. First over the bars was there (and 2nd and 3rd) on the little anthills by the golf course (gone long time now.) Also encounter my first, and so far only, "trap"...someone had buried a board with nails in some leaves. Rode right over it. This was just north of Bandera Rd., but south of the 'sandtrap' (not sure if that's still a thing. Probably not, as this was 21 years ago.

Huh, I got 16.5 miles on the bike this morning, left when it was 37F, think it "warmed up" to about 39F by the time I got home. Oh yeah, and I hit sleet on the way home.

    Always ride.

I need to re-read your "layers" post, and take notes. I have a few things, but nothing really comprehensive. Really don't want to give up on riding because it's TOO cold (cough:<50F:cough)

There's a yawning gap between "vintage" and "old junk". Many people fail to understand the distinction.

Nostalgia can be strong, for some.  Doesn't matter if something is "worth" something on a market of some sort. The value should lie within a personal desire, not how much you can sell it for on ebay.

It was a work party:  Diwali + Halloween + Dia de los Muertos combined celebration, so it was appropriate.  But I was always envious of the DAs in Law & Order, with that bottom drawer bottle of Whiskey.

Have you never watched Mad Men? They'd walk into the office, grab a bottle of a sidecart, pour a glass for whomever was present, then commence meeting

I was in, drove 30 min in traffic, got there, put lights on bike, then was going to put the one on my helmet...no helmet.  Drove another 30 minutes in heavy traffic home. suckage!  At least I got to say hi to Barry from afar.

Heh...did this a few weeks back at Brushy. Only it was shoes I forgot...

Confession Time: I have tubeless wheels, stems and sealant on hand but I'm still running tubes.

Just make the switch. I had always thought it might've been a bit messy and painful, but it wasn't bad at all. I DID have CO2 cartridges on hand, which makes it really easy to seat the tires: Pull off tire/tube; clean rim (or just wipe with a rag you find on garage floor); install stem; mount tubeless tire; use high-pressure to seat tire (should actually hold air as is); let air out; remove valve core; use sealant syringe to add sealant; install valve core, pump to desired pressure.

  8. Dunno if it was a recent change, but I know I've seen kids out there before on BMX type bikes. Not sure if it was allowed then or not, but they've been there.

Been a bit less traffic there, lately. I assume maybe because school is in.

Wait, this isn't the midget tranny thread?

Well, I for one hope it doesn't go there. I was schooled on appropriate tire brand and have corrected my issue (mostly; still have a Hans Dampf up front, but that's fine) with a Maxxis out back. Lesson learned.
