  1. Lol " we shouldn't presume experts know what they're talking about."

His point about "no cases of transmission by children after schools opened" is laughable. You mean those schools that opened in countries where cases dropped to low levels because they fucking wore masks to stop the spread? Yeah, ok. That is exactly like what is happening in the US. Plague rats will say anything, do anything but wear a mask.

A bit out of date. This information is a bit more relevant:

"Now that serology tests are available, which test for antibodies, the estimates we have right now show about 10 times more people have antibodies in the jurisdictions tested than had documented infections."

When people disagree with you, do you always immediately treat them like shit with cussing and name calling? Your response is part of the problem as people tend to get defensive when they get called fucking ignorant and instead of changing their minds, your attacks just make them dig in their heels even more. From your post, you strike me as a person that cannot have a civil conversation with anyone who might disagree with your views. Perhaps I'm wrong but I only have that post to go on.

Instead of attacking, why not try to actually understand WHY people disagree with you? Don't you think it would be easier to change someone's opinion if you understood their point of view? Also, not attacking with vitriol and hate would probably help as well. Empathy goes a long way in life even if you completely disagree with a person's perspective.

I'm all for mask wearing and helping prevent spread. But I also understand why others don't want to and I don't hate them for it or feel the need to call them fucking ignorant. It just isn't necessary and is not helpful one iota. But these are the days of social media where it's evidently acceptable to be a complete asshole to strangers and treat them like shit. Getting rid of my facebook and twitter account were two of my better decisions in life a couple years ago.

I don't care if someone has a difference of opinion. That's fine. I have a problem with those that are too selfish and self-centered to care about anyone else. Arguing with them will not ever change their mind, simply because they are incapable of change. Their world-view consists of "ME and ONLY ME" and they are NEVER wrong. They believe the earth is flat in spite of overwhelming evidence it is not. They believe astronauts did not land on the moon, in spite of evidence they did and that with a big enough telescope you can see the marks on the moon where they landed. They believe the entirety of the world is conspiring and making up a chinese flu that isn't any different than any other disease in spite of the fact there are over half a million dead from it. They believe that wearing a mask is indicative of being a "sheep" when it is simply a self-less act of trying to prevent it's spread. The only thing, if that is even possible in some cases, that would change the minds of people like this is experience. In this specific case, that would mean the death of someone they care about due to their own actions which could have been prevented by simple preventative measures, like wearing a mask.

No. I understand completely. I refuse to wear a mask. You assume I’m out to kill your whole family. It’s over dramatic. You fly off the handle and call people names because we don’t bury our heads in the sand like you do. Good luck with that bud. Get back in line. Do as you’re told.

No. I assume you don't give a shit about anyone but yourself. Killing others is just unfortunately going to be the result. Maybe not for you. Even likely not you. But someone like you. As I've said: petulant, self-centered, selfish.

Not doing "what I'm told"...doing what is "right" but not for me. For everyone else, including you.

I’m just guessing...but the way you piss and moan about people who don’t agree with you, might suggest that you don’t care about other people at all as well.

This right here shows you have no understanding at all,.  I'm not pissing and moaning about being disagreed with. At all. But seems you really can't understand that.

No, just when people continuously, without change, show that they do not care about other people at all.

I agree with this but why do we all of sudden care just now? The flu survival rate is ALMOST 100% and tens of thousands die every year in the US from the flu but we've never taken these actions during flu seasons. Why didn't we shut down the economy or force masks when flu deaths hit 60,000 in a bad year like 2017-18? Surely we could have saved many of those loved ones if we forced stay at home orders and masks, right? All we had to do is sacrifice some comfort, good looks, and jobs. Why didn't we do it?

I've looked back through the threads and I've never seen any of you arguing for masks, distancing or saving others back in the 2017-18 flu where the CDC estimates 61,000 deaths. Was 60,000 deaths just not enough for y'all to care about or change your habits? Do we only care when deaths pass 100K?

/sarcasm Personally, I'm fine with 37,873 deaths. But once we hit 37,874, I demand shut downs and masks. What are y'alls numbers? /sarcasm

This is completely worthless argument. Humans have been living with the the flu for a LONG TIME...we've built up immunities, our bodies know how to fight it, we have fucking vaccines for it. There is a reason it's called NOVEL coronavirus...because it's fucking NEW. Our bodies have no defense against it, we don't have vaccines for it. Fucking hell the ignorance displayed in this thread all because of MUH FREEEDOMS1111!!!

And yet again....masks do not protect you, as all those studies found. But what you keep avoiding is that masks prevent YOU from infecting others. Yes, we all, here in this forum, GREATLY understand you care not one whit about anyone else but yourself. We get it. We really do. Why you keep posting this crap is beyond understanding at this point. We're not going to convince you how wrong not wearing a mask is and you won't be convincing anyone that wearing a mask isn't right.

But did someone actually break their leg there? I need the juicy details. Stories like that give me life.

Couple weeks ago was riding with a friend and we came up on a guy freshly crashed in The Trap on Deception East and my buddy was in front. He stopped suddenly and was like “whoa” and I rolled up. My first instinct (and what I did) was to bust out laughing and make fun of the guy since he didn’t seem to be hurt other than pride (his friends were just sitting there staring at him). He took it semi-well, and I later saw him at Swag and apologized, gotta love carnage. I crashed yesterday in the stupid spot above mooseknuckle that JCarney was having trouble with.

I have since conquered that feature. Still 50/50 on the giant slab that goes up just prior (where the orange rocks give warning that you'll soon be arriving at)

  11. Been in manufacturing my whole adult life. My specific engineering technician skills and knowledge won't apply, but all the general knowledge should. I might consider applying there, when they start building out.

LOL, I've been waiting for that. Name calling is so grown up.

Local governments and police departments in California have said in recent days that they will not enforce a mandate from Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom that people in the state wear face masks in most public places, including outdoor areas where social distancing is not possible -- despite emphasis from the governor about the importance of following the order.

No name calling. Just using children as an example to follow. Really don't expect a selfish, self-centered adult to learn anything. Certainly not to care about anyone or anything but themselves. Most people do, just would like to see more do so as well.

I feel like he actually answered my question. Instead of repeating the same thing. You're not going to change my mind. I'm not going to change yours.

Selfish, self-centered children rarely do change their minds. Only when they grow up and become a bit more mature do they realize how  they were wrong. Hopefully someday you'll get there, without having to watch someone die in the process.

  14. I bought a Eufy BoostIQ robovac: https://www.amazon.com/eufy-BoostIQ-Super-Thin-Self-Charging-Medium-Pile/dp/B079QYYGF1/ref=pd_lpo_201_t_2/142-3345246-1287750?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B079QYYGF1&pd_rd_r=c7ea2fed-0ee0-43e3-8015-0f3a3ee3b03a&pd_rd_w=dnhkm&pd_rd_wg=y3VC0&pf_rd_p=7b36d496-f366-4631-94d3-61b87b52511b&pf_rd_r=C4061F9PBX1KXXDFPARC&psc=1&refRID=C4061F9PBX1KXXDFPARC

Not as expensive or fully featured as the more expensive brands/models, but works pretty nicely. Been using it for a little over a month or so. New house is still a bit cluttered from move, but I just run it in main living area/kitchen/hallways. Still need to straighten up rooms so as to not get it hung up on something.

I have to say, boxed wine is hitting the spot. Black Box Cabernet is really doing the trick while I watch the recording of the Everton v Liverpool match.

Football is back, wine is good, and the wife is about to start on the filet mignons. Can't really complain.

Used to buy these boxes, though usually Pinot Noir. Lately, I've mostly just been drinking the Rare Blends wine I found at HEB (Rare Purple Blend, Rare Red Blend, Rare Black Blend.) Cheap, but also pretty decent.

  16. Been using E13 (oem 2018 YT Jeffsy) for a couple years. No experience with anything else, but it seems "ok"...been wanting to replace and thinking PNW would be the winner, but they have so many different models, not sure what is different about all of them. Some are internal, some external. Some shorter, some longer. E13 still works, so until it doesn't, I'll keep PNW back of mind.

And all of this is related to MTB how?

The person posting rides a mountain bike? Does it matter? Guy having troubles, wants to vent, or possibly get advice. Move along to next topic if you're not interested. Certainly would take much less effort to ignore than to make a snide comment.

Take advantage of the programming for some energy savings.

Like the others, I just change as needed. My sleep/wake cycles flip a bit on a weekly basis. I just turn it down when going to bed, then turn it back up when I get up. That could start at 7am and go to 2pm or start at 2am and go to 8am...I think I can at least program it for sun-tues, which are work days; it's wed-sat that sleep time fluctuates the most.

On the bright side, several months ago I accidentally bought deodorant without antiperspirant. Caring less about pit stains these days, I’m finally putting my mistake to use.

    Yeah, I’m really digging deep.

I suppose if you need it, you need it, but I stopped using anti-perspirant probably 10 years ago, and only use deodorant. Shirts no longer have stiff-clothed stains in the pits, and I feel better about not stuffing skin pores with metal particles.

  20. I just hooked up ATT fiber at house (from decades long use of spectrum/tw/et al.) It's already 1/2 what I was paying Spectrum for 100gb. I did run the speedtest and it was pegged at around 400-500, so not QUITE the 1000, still a better deal than I had. I was actually surprised at how well the wifi worked, as I have always used a wired connection (for desktop/gaming pc; ps3/amazon fire tv were always wifi.) Sad thing is, my firetv remote broke a while back, so I was using the wifi app on phone. When I moved and had to setup a new wifi connection, I can no longer use the firetv, as it's still setup for my old wifi network, and phone app won't connect...so I just ordered a new firetv remote...thankfully there's a non-amazon, cheaper remote that works with firetv.

  21. I've mostly just been cooking simple meals, from Hellofresh. Get the 2-serving/4 meal package, so I'll have something to take to work. Rest of the time I just make do with miscellaneous items (beer brats and tortillas, or sandwich of some sort) or order something delivered/takeout.

Just found a big packet of instant yeast, so will start making loaves of bread, once I have the rest of the ingredients. And now that I've moved into an actual house, with more space, will be making pizzas from scratch.  Also need to start a new batch of beer, since I've not made anything since November.
