  1. Riders will buy used E-bikes and will need aftermarket support. Just like the current bike market. All it takes is a demand, which there inevitably will be, and the aftermarket will create the product. Seeing these new developments come out is encouraging.

My point on Fezzari is I can now buy an E-bike frame with powertrain and swap all my other components over off my regular bikes. That's a win and will hopefully catch on with other brands, making owning an ebike more of a possibility to a lot more riders that want one.

With professional Enduro on its way out, and E-enduro taking over there will be a surge of development, at least for a short time until people don't tune in to watch, or show up to the races. You can thank the UCI for that.

  2. I think my point is, it's good someone is starting to address the need for aftermarket support with e-bikes. Fezzari is now selling frame/motor only options and hopefully others will follow suit. It has to start somewhere.

Lastly. As someone whos worked in the auto industry for 30+ years, I can say that the Germans are far from killing it when it comes to quality.

this is the kind of thing that makes me want to go full old man shaking fist at cloud rant. all these companies know exactly what they are doing, and they don't care. they will trot out a yearly sustainability report full of greenwashed nonsense. most of those batteries will end up in a landfill. a few of them will get tossed in municipal recycling bins, where they will start fires that injure workers and damage facilities (yes, this happens all time). I'd be curious to know how many of them are properly recycled. recycling is one of the least impactful ways to reduce waste, but for things like this, the damage has already been done and it's the best way.

Hit the nail on the head. The greenwashing and virtue signaling these days makes me want to vomit. Overconsumption is the main issue and altering that would hurt our consumer based economy. Shit isn't gonna change in our kids or grandkids lifetimes.

     Pessimistic old man rant off.

On a positive note, there's a little good news on the Ebike front:

1 minute into Bernard Kerr and it already sounds like WB/Discovery may kill world cups too.  I hadn't realized the format changed b/c of them.

Yeah it's nuts. The difference in opinion between kerr and bruni is something else.

Being adjacent to walkable neighborhoods is a plus as well.

    This exactly^

Nano and small neighborhood breweries will survive the impending storm. The ones that are smart have basically built a brewery version of Cheers. The mid sized ones, trying to distribute, that need a constant stream of cheap loans will drown as small fish in a big AMBEV pond.  Also seems every other brewery that tried to operate in the beer DMZ that is metric, has failed. That area is certain death.

As far as Oskar blues goes. There's no love lost.  Giant facility and taproom that offer the same mediocre beers you could buy at HEB. Yawn

Heart goes out to the employees that showed up to locked doors. Had that happen to me more than once.

Any locals heading up to Bentonville for Outer Bike this year? I was thinking about maybe checking out the Outer Bike venue for a day or two and then heading east to ride Hobbs and Eureka Springs. Thinking there might be some nice fall foliage towards the end of the month.

I'd imagine hotels will be pricey. Have you looked into them? You can stay in Fayetteville (much nicer) and just drive 20 minutes or head east towards Eureka. That little town was on our list when we lived in ATX but never made it. There's a cool old hotel there and some killer bike park riding.

Weather should be perfect. We did our last ozark trip in feb 2020 while raining and it was still rideable.

Ponca is a short drive too. Was around $20 for all day shuttle and people were super cool.

How are the conditions? Looked wet and foggy earlier in the week up top.

Track is mint. Was hero dirt on qualifying. Might dry a bit more for some dust on race day.

Fog in am but it burns off by practice. Otherwise, perfect weather and trees are changing colors. MSA next weekend will be interesting to say the least. The introduction of discovery etc has changed the vibe and structure of the race a bit, but it's still pretty good.

Lots of opinions on next season.
