Ah. Yea. Should have mentioned Mully. What really needs to happen is take some buckets and wheelbarrows in there. Tons of 3 inch rock pieces to toss in the mud and make a nice base.

My Ventana rear ended True Fab was running a Fox DHX which was great, but always on without a functional lock. I picked up a Monarch RT3 with an MM tune. It is smooth and nice, the propedal works really well. But I have never been able to get more than 15mm out of it, so 15mm of sag, then 15mm of use, leaving 20mm of stroke unused. This included bombing a bunch of stuff in Colorado. Doing lots of reading on MTBR I am sure I could tune it myself and maybe get more out of it. I ordered a DBAir IL, but the air can is too fat and doesn't clear the frame. So thinking about the Fox options.

I posted on MTBR and the only response so far was suggesting the DPX2, as I have room for the piggyback. Though a DPS seems fine too (and one of the options from Ventana)

Looking for insights from this group. The Monarch is fine, but I'll have to open it up to change valving if I want to keep it. Returning my DBAir, and it looks like a DPX2 off ebay is nearly the same price. If I go with a DPX2, which compression and rebound factory settings should I look for, low or medium? the RS was medium and likely too much, so assuming a Fox CL and RL?

You should consider a Manitou Mcleod. No specific tune that I'm aware of. Simple straight forward shock that works very well especially for the price. Replaced the RP23 on my RIP9 with one it completely changed the way the bike felt. No more wallowing through the mid stroke. Set up is basically sag and rebound with four platforms from soft to almost locked also has a blow off if you forget to take it out of firmest setting.

  3. Rode Picnic and 1/4 notch yesterday afternoon. Picnic was pretty sloppy in areas 1/4 notch is about the same as has been, wet just before any feature that requires momentum and traction to clear. I think the ground is so saturated that the sun we're getting is wicking the moisture from underneath. The places in the shade were there is little bit of dirt are extremely sticky, enough to feel your bike slow down although no mud sticking to tires. Hopefully we get a little more drying I don't particularly like the trails when they're just slippery enough to make most features dangerous.

Looks like the top of my tool box after I've been working on things. I'll clean and organize my tool box and within days it looks like that again. It's a phenomenon that happens in any working shop. Spent 25 years in body shops, any horizontal surface becomes a sh*t stacker. Including vehicles that stayed in one place too long.

Apparently someone was taken off the trail on a stretcher minutes ago. If you’re on here, hope you’re okay and back to riding soon.

The trail is no joke when it's slick. Real easy to get hurt if you go out and ride it like it's dry.

Did you move it off the trail?

Probably need some type of saw. The log in the middle is pretty large. Also was not sure who built it, didn't know if was some new feature designed to increase the gnar factor.

  7. We saw that yesterday also. Someone said that the big log in the center had fallen there and people started building off that. Not a practical feature due to the fact it is right at a switchback. Riding west to east it is right at the end of the turn not allowing enough momentum to get over it. Riding east to west you'd have too much speed coming off of it to safely make the switchback turn. Going west to east that particular switchback is hard enough without that monstrosity being there. First pic is looking going east second is west.

  8. Cam McCaul's commentary is hard to listen to. He's even hard to watch with his focus and eyes darting all over the place. There's no need to sensationalize this event it's pretty self explanatory. The problem with the judging is that it's very subjective unless someone pulls off some crazy move. I think Lacondeguy might have won with that last run he had going, was definitely pulling out all the stops.

  9. UCI needs to go away. Antiquated ideals and rules. It is just a money grab and always has been. UCI played a big part in the Armstrong scandal all for the sake of money. When Armstrong was at the peak of the Tour years UCI did nothing to investigate  because they didn't want to kill the golden calf. When it all broke and people started coming forward after the money dried up the UCI couldn't ignore things and didn't care because there was really nothing to lose except accurate history of Tour de France winners. They can have their E-Bike races I'm not interested. If I want to see something like that I'll watch MotoX.

  10. Semenuk is still a badass. I think he's coming for blood. Been away for a few years now. The new kids might be willing to take sketchier lines but Semenuk has experience, skills and most of all style. If Rogatkin were riding he'd be on my list in place of Sorge. Lacondeguy is another potential already has one Rampage win under his belt.

I think that's what people have started to do in the low spot at Mulligan, the problem being that more dirt keeps washing down.  So in some cases, I think improving drain down slope will fix the problem.

In other longer flat areas, I was thinking ladder bridges, but I am guessing that wood features are a big no-no.

From what I understand wood features on 1/4 Notch and DD are not really what the county wants. Snail is a whole different story.
