I feel the same way about AXS and other electronic devices on bikes. If i have to charge it, or bring my god damned phone, it can fuck right off. At this point, im rapidly growing sick of the technology in my life, in our society and I want it gone.

I feel the same way. Electronic anything aside from a way to track miles takes the purity out of cycling. We don't need electronic shifting or electronic suspension or any other electronic device to enhance our riding experience. What enhances our riding experience is having a great day on the bike. Maybe you finally cleared a feature that you never have before, or maybe you rode more miles than you ever have before, or just enjoying a beautiful day not doing the normal day to day things. These are the things that enhance my riding not some electronic device that is supposed to make riding a bike more fun. If I want a motorcycle I'll buy one.

On a side note self driving cars are right around the corner😂

I've been riding my Rimpacts for 4 months without any issues. I've got the original in front and the denser pro model in back. Usually ride around 22psi rear and 18 in front. My rear tire was worn; so I attempted changing my tire prior to riding yesterday. Quickly discovered it was going to be impossible to break the bead with just my hands given the size of that Rimpact Pro. I won't go into all the details, but just breaking the bead involved some tools that I definitely would never have trailside. Once I got the tire unseated and removed the insert, I found indications of impacts very similar to what @WLemke is showing in his pics above, with no indications of damage to my DT Swiss carbon rims.

Cleaned up the Rimpact and commenced mounting a new tire, exact same brand / model tire as what I removed. While this is only the second time installing tires on these particular DT Swiss rims, I've installed plenty of tires on my prior set of DT Swiss carbon, as well as on other wheels I've owned over the years, and I've never had trouble getting a tire on with anything more than a couple of flimsy plastic tire levers. This time though, I fought the damn thing for an hour and a half, trying various techniques, and for the life of me couldn't get it past 10 / 2. Eventually had to give up and dust off my back-up bike for a scheduled ride at City Park, which ended up being the second ass-kicking of the day for me.

Not sure what to try next. I really don't think it's the Rimpact that is causing me this difficulty, but I suppose I'll try seating the tire without the Rimpact. The original tire had already been seated before I installed the Rimpact in the first place; so maybe there's something to be said for stretching that thing out a bit before trying it with the insert. If that doesn't work, I may have to try some better tire levers. I have two different types now, both plastic. One set has a really nice hook on the end but are too flimsy to work given the tightness of the bead. The other set are really stiff but just slip out when the going gets tight, given they just have a curved end without a true hook.

Get a set of the Pedro's plastic levers they're strong AF.

True story. I'd be just as happy (with my stouts, porters, browns, Scotch ales, Belgiums, and occasional yellow [or even light!] beer) if they'd abandon the IPA concept altogether. Typically I'm a live and let live sort...but when OB runs out of Ten Fiddy and Old Chub, but has 9 fucking IPAs available, it's time to get militant.

If you can ever find it I'd recommend Kasteel Tripel. 11% blond tripel malty yeasty goodness.

Firestone makes some good stuff. They were bought by Duvel Mortgaat a Belgian brand and it seems that they let them keep doing what they like instead of being bought by someone like AB were they only care about market share and want  the brewery to fall in line with what sells. This unfortunately happened to Middleton brewing not that they were bought by a big conglomerate but Middleton used to do some good Belgian styles before the other investors steered them in the direction of the status quo. Boulevard is also owned by Duvel Mortgaat and they do some really good brews. I know I'm out of the norm for what people think is good beer, I don't like IPA's at all and IPA's were not brewed for any other reason than to preserve the beer for the journey from England to India when Great Britain was settling India. There is no such thing as an IPL or a dark IPA these are just brewers renaming a beer for the sake of "being different".

On another note I just got back from a trip to LI and there's a brewery there that specializes in Belgian style beers. They do a Quadruple that is probably the best quad I've had, along with a fantastic dubbel. All of the breweries beers are brewed with locally sourced ingredients from Long Island farms. This brewery is also currently brewing beer with yeast from 130 years ago that was found in beer that was on a ship that sank off the coast of LI in the 1800's.

So do y’all carry the pliers with you on rides?  How big are they?  At home I use a pair of mini vise grips but I don’t carry them.  I think a Leatherman would work too.  I apply force on the plates, not the rollers like the special pliers do.

    I carry these.

  6. A different saddle to bar height would be something that could cause back issues. The need to generate more power can also cause back problems. Different stack height could potentially cause you to be more weight forward on the bike causing back issues. Bar rise and stem length are also something to consider along with TT length a longer top tube will cause you to stretch out more putting stress on your lower back.

Yeah, I think this guy's name is Jeremy and he's been at it for years. I've never bought anything from him, but for a while, there was another guy who kept post stuff like "Hey Jeremy, quit shit posting 20 bikes every day" and telling him to at least post in the dealer section. Apparently, he didn't listen.

Also funny, most of his post say "Without a doubt, this is the PERFECT bike for Austin!" If you're selling 20 different bikes ranging from entry level hardtail to full DH race sled, they can't all be "Without a doubt, this is the PERFECT bike for Austin!"

    Nelo's Jeremy?🤔 Wouldn't surprise me he was a POS.

That would be all fine if we all lived in fuckin bubbles. Those refusing to get vaccinated are putting those that can’t be vaccinated at risk by not only spreading the current strains perpetuating the virus but allowing it to mutate and probably putting all of us at risk eventually. Fuck that it’s my choice bullshit. You don’t want to help then stay the fuck home, die alone, don’t kill someone else. But no, they gotta be assholes about it and not do anything to not hurt somebody else and be a dick about in the process.

This is very true but unfortunately we have no control over this. We have very little control over the choices of others. I agree with you 100%. I didn't post this to start a discourse over right and wrong. All that I'm saying is everyone who can, now has the ability to be vaccinated and those who choose not to are an issue that is out of our control. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. I did my part the best I could but when given a choice of being bankrupt or dying your survival instinct is that you need to continue to survive and being penniless isn't an option for survival. I kept my distance, I masked up, I washed my hands and I had a great concern for not infecting others. I own my own business and put all of my accounts on call as needed basis. I did everything I was supposed to do to keep the spread down. Unfortunately I had no medical insurance due to it costing me more than my mortgage just for premiums, so my wife went back to work after fifteen years to get us medical insurance. She's a hospital worker and got it at her place of employment bringing it home and giving it to me and my youngest daughter who were both considered high risk due to "preexisting medical conditions". Obviously we both survived and we are now both vaccinated. This is the unfortunate nature of nature. Some of us won't survive and really weren't meant to. I know that this makes me seem like some callous prick that doesn't care about anyone but myself but anyone who knows me knows that that is not who I am. When something like this happens we can't all survive. If it weren't for the antiquated medical technology that was available in the early '60's I would not have survived being born and I'm OK with that.

It's been more than a year with this now. There are polarized opinions on both sides of whatever feelings we have about this. Everybody has their own beliefs about getting or not getting vaccinated. Neither party is right or wrong it's just what they believe. We'll never reach herd immunity with the vaccination due to some people not being able to get it for medical reasons and some people who refuse to get the vaccine. With that being said I think we're at the SOGOTP stage with this and we need to let nature choose the outcome at this point. If you're vaccinated good for you, you'll probably be ok moving forward if you're not vaccinated due to refusing to get it... well as far as I'm concerned you're on your own. We make life decisions everyday that could have potentially fatal outcomes this is really no different. Remember we ride MTB's for fun but there is an inherent risk to it.

I have my own conspiracy theories about all of this but I'll keep those to myself.

It is a integrated headset from Wolftooth
Its been on this bike for 11 months with a RockShox fork.
I move the race over from the RockShox fork and moved all the pieces directly over as well. I do have several of the .10 spacers I can play with. I know this is not Apple to Apples but the only difference is the new fork and using a plug instead of a star nut now. Every other piece is the same.

It's the compression plug. I went through this on my last road bike. it seems not all compression plugs are the same. I have one you can try if you want to see if that's the problem.

leave it to Carl Sagan to take an allegory literally and miss the point. Newsflash, Carl: Star Wars is not science fiction. it's a fantasy set in space. Narnia is not about lions and fauns and witches, either. I agree about Chewbacca not getting a medal though.

the rest of it tracks as well.

I was really only referring to his statement from his book. Could care less about Star Wars.
