    I think the heat problem was only happening on the guide R’s, not the RS’;

    i had the problem with my 2016 guide RSCs (same basic design as RS).

    That being said, SRAM has fixed the issue with a new plunger design. i don't think you'll see it with new brakes as long as they aren't old stock.

  2. Might be obvious, but Walnut has great family riding. started taking the kids there as soon as they were on 24".

    the boardwalk downtown is great, and you can connect it to the new shoal creek trail which is fun.

    Ha, that was me today. I finally headed out at 4:30 and had a good ride until dark.

    Speaking of which...

    Because I've been away from my bikes a while, I am not familiar with all the trails built out at brushy creek. I have ridden deception for a a few years and knew of picnic, but I'm surprised at how much trail there is now. It's a lot of good trail.

    So I took rim trail to it's end, where it drops into the limestone ditch near the park boundary. I followed that downstream (towards the main trail) to the first drop. What's the name of this? Heading downstream, 183A is on the left.

    here a great reference map:

    $50 it is then. Tried calling but just got a message for "thunderbird" what ever that is. Anyways they need a few tweeks.....new phone message, and calendar and hours on their website.

    Thunderbird Lodge is the property that Spider Mountain sits on.

    and yes, spider mountain needs to get its act together on the marketing front. A webpage would maybe be helpful in 2019.

  5. i'm ok with them not providing a trail only pass or single tickets. it keeps the pricing simple. who wants to monitor whether or not there are ebikes on the triail, people riding up, deal with passes, etc. you're there, just ride the lift and get more runs in.

    the basic problem is the at the price is steep. i think $30-40 is more of a  sweet spot. and hopefully the price will come down in time. but there will be plenty of people willing to pay $50. Spider Mountain's best resource is the fact that there are like 10 million people within 3 hour drive.

    I wonder what their policy will be on rain/wet trails.  RPR drains like a champ, but from what I saw of the race they had out there last year, Spider may not be as immune to rain.  Forecast is showing a high chance of rain early Thursday, and then 40% chances on Saturday and Sunday.  Obviously, lightning will close the lift, but I'll be interested to see how they handle rain.

    The blue trail actually rode quite well in the rain.

    Rotor Smoker is a different story, complete muddy mess. Black Sabbath was in between, not particularly muddy, but the trail was deteriorating.
