That reminds me of a motorcycle tour I did in Europe one time.  Large group riding through a small village that had narrow streets with many blind 90 degree turns that our group was having to navigate.  The group comes upon a large tourist bus that was having difficulty navigation the tight turns.  I'm fourth in line and the lead rider manages to get around the bus before the next turn.  Suddenly the two riders in front of me take off around the bus, TOTALLY blind maneuver.  Myself and everyone behind slam on the brakes, totally freaked out expecting massive carnage once we get around the bend.  Turns out those three guys had communication systems and the lead rider had told the other two that the coast was clear and to come on around.  Freaked the heck out of everybody.  😳

I love my SENA system in my moto helmet.  Freaked out several people when I take a phone call and they ask where I am and I respond "on the moto going 75 on the hwy" and they are trying to mentally picture me riding the moto with a phone up to my ear!

  2. I was with Anita and ran into olddbrider.  Had fun, but echo all of their statements.  I went down when front washed out on the loose conditions and the knee pads quickly paid for themselves.  Was a fun day in Burnet (always followed by a great burger and beer at Bill's Burgers in town).  Fun time and I hope to go back once more is built in to have more options.

  3. Yep, fun is an appropriate term; its always such a novelty.  With a good stoker (and captain) team, along with a little practice you could probably be much faster than you'd guess.

PS- I don't really have any desire to be a part of a tandem team, but if anyone wanted to give it a shot, I'm good with loaning out the tandem.

If you've ever been on peddlers pass - you would know how utterly crazy it would be. That trail is TIGHT and there is not 1 straight section.

  4. I rode the standard route CL and then CCL and I almost think it rolls better CCL.  IMHO.

But, I would LOVE to see something like - divide the race route at the current end to EITHER - the powerline technical trail (shorter, but the racers HAVE to hit every trail feature), or main trail - (longer, but no real technical).  That would be pretty damn cool.  And offer some interesting racing decisions.  Would be interesting to time those two options to see which one is faster.

I've even seen a couple of MeatWeapons race on a tandem at PB and beat Weaver!  I've got a nice framed photo of the pair in the dining room.  2 doods on tandem were awarded the #69 number plate, oddly.

Oh crap, I remember that.  Awesome!

Can you imagine a tandem show up to the Peddler Pass race?  THAT WOULD BE HILARIOUS

  6. Team Meat Weapon once had a couple racers show up in cut off jeans and a "customized" t-shirt with cut off sleeves for their races.  Was awesome to see.

Team Mojo also used to do beer handups to the racers and had quite a few stop by and slam a lonestar in the middle of their race!

Never take the race too seriously.  Takes the fun out of it.

Reminds me - I am thinking about getting my trek Y-bike built back up as singlespeed and do the TMBRA out at pace bend.
