  1. Nah.  Start at my house.  Ride to the YMCA, go down snail (skip the YMCA trail), Dave's ditch (or maybe just up to the start of rimjob), rimjob w->e, then picnic X/picnic w->e to meet with friends at skatepark, or if alone, deception w->e, then mulligan if feeling it. peddler's if giving a shit, then either picnic e->w or deception e->w, rimjob e->w then home.  If meeting friends - above, but then wander over to suburban ninja, have a beer at redhorn, then gumdrop back to parking lot and then over to brooklyn heights for more beer and wings/pizza.

Just got back from a three hour ride at Brushy Creek..  Rode 23.5 miles..

    https://www.strava.com/activities/2149728577

    Here's what I did:

    • Gumdrop, Snow White, and Gnargasm
    • Peddler's Pass East
    • Peddler's Pass West
    • Mulligan
    • Picnic all the way to the end
    • Up and Over (trail opposite end of Deception) to Rim Job
    • Rim Job out and back (was going to ride Dave's Ditch, but too wet at the top)
    • Up Rainbow
    • Down YMCA
    • Up YMCA
    • Down Rainbow
    • Picnic to Deception bail out
    • Up Deception Bailout to Double Down entrance
    • 1/4 Notch backwards (I think it flows great in this direction!)
    • BCRT back to Deception Bailout
    • Upper Picnic east until end
    • Peddler's West
    • Peddler's East
    • Gumdrop backwards
    • Back to car at Champion Park

Didn't ride Caddyshack, Dave's Ditch or Double Down.

Trails were in great shape overall.  A few wet or muddy spots on various trails, but the vast majority of trail was excellent. And the weather was perfect.  Lots of people out there today!

We did the same and more.  Found Suburban ninja to round out the ride with mid ride beer at Redhorn.  Best way to spend valentine's day.

I did find this on their site, hitting the alternate revenue stream angle.  https://www.spidermountain.com/

" Spider Mountain Bike Park offers a variety of trails for all abilities - with an aggressive plan to add more trails regularly. Once you've had your fill of gravity-fueled thrills, sample our lake resort amenities where you'll find lodging, camping, SUP and boat rentals at our private marina and more. "

After zooming in on GoogleMaps Satellite view I found a link to a resort with the same address as Spider Mountain website references. Thunderbird may be what they purchased, and the resort site provides some additional info on amenities that may be a part of the overall plan. If so, I'll say that their business plan may offer more elements than are shown on the SM website so far. It seems to be better thought out than the impression the SM site paints. EDIT: Same link is on the SM site as "LODGING" at the top of each page.

Agree with that assessment.  Spidermountain front splash screen is the same view as thunderbird from lake overtop the resort looking at the hill.  Now it is looking like a much better investment - skiing, biking, adventure central.  And the fam can come and enjoy while I bike!

  4. Aren't most their trails in a park that's just for trails? I thought they literally have physical parking access gates they open and close. No?

No. The trail that I hit when I'm at the in laws (rowlett creek), the parking lot was open , but the wooden sign at the trail head noted that the trails were closed.

  5. The Dallas club has signage at each trailhead that notes if the trail is open or closed to the public with large signage and posts conditions continuously on DORBA.org.  Would be difficult at trails like WC and Brushy, but might be worth a thought.
