CJB, very familiar with route from Thumper to Cedar Park.  I used this route for years and cross any major roadway at stop lights.  Most of my route is west of 183 through Neighborhoods.

It is very easy to get to the YMCA and enter the far west end of DD.

And mostly my neighborhood.  I live off of Little Elm (same street that the YMCA is on, but at the 620 end.!

Have you thought about using a standing desk for work? Fortunately my job has me on my feet 8 hours a day but my brother in law started to notice that being sedentary was causing him major issues. He converted his desk to a standing desk and I noticed a difference in his physical appearance within 6 months.

Screw that, with all this rain, I'm gonna build him a bike-desk!

    ... and,

If you keep 2 rings, consider putting a Rock Ring in place of the big ring you removed. This "upgrade" drastically reduces the chance of getting a "chainring tattoo" (where a get off, slipping off a pedal, etc. results in the teeth on the exposed ring leaving their unique, personalized pattern permanently in your calf, and usually a simultaneous blood-letting to appease the trail gods accompanies the tattoo work).

And I even have one or two I can give up.

I've been nursing back issues for about 3 weeks now.  But I just got back this evening from 3 days of riding in Bentonville and looks like I'm back on the mend!  I need to get into work tomorrow and check my calendar but I'm CONSIDERING a Thumper Thurs ride this week.  If that doesn't work (and maybe even if it does), I may be able to pull off another Thumper pre-ride this coming weekend too.  If I can do a weekend ride, it will be either Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon.  I'm just putting all this out there so people can start to get a picture for what may transpire...

Don't think you're hitting thumper this week!

  5. Ride it long enough to figure out what about it truely you like and dislike.  Agree with Austinbike - go 1x if you don't really use those gears.  Or at the very least 2x (just ditch the bigring).  As you are riding, try out other friends' bikes to again get a feel for what fits you and your riding style.  I know people who went F.S., and then went back because it didn't suit them.  Same with dropper post.  Don't be too in a hurry to "upgrade" to greener grass until you truely know that your grass is trampled into the ground and can no longer sustain you (or in my or Seth's case, you break the frame 3X and are forced to upgrade!).

  6. Run what you brung.  Don't upgrade until you can outride the bike itself.  Full suspension leads to poor bike handling skills especially right off the bat.  Anything in central texas and beyond can be ridden on a hardtail.  Full Sus just makes it a little easier.  It doesn't make up for bad skills.

Hell of a great deal on a RACE bike!

But, the description is best: Rice bike oxone 500 RS 3000 700C 21 speed bike

I've always wondered about using gripshifters on a roadbike!  But, it does have all 21 of the speeds!

And, he has the same bike for sale on Offerup.com for twice????

  8. Depends on the tire, but muscle or deflating slightly.  I can measure the front tire ovals for clarification.  Ok, not all is steel, but the front/rear tire trays/holders are steel.  The "yoke" that holds the lower front tire oval is plastic, and the rear tire clamp is plastic.  But, the main structure is steel vs. alum.  You can definitely mod to your heart's content.  I have moved the J-hook that hooks the top of the tire to another set of holes to allow it to be tall enough for 29ers as well.

Man, beside the severely bent frame, that (ridiculously long) stem looks like it's held by nothing more than the quill itself! What's sad is that he'll probably sell it to some unfortunate, ignorant, unsuspecting person, who will end up hurting themselves on it.

Not if I buy it first!  I have a way with frames!

I see your point but to me the fishing is scamming and I feel bad for anyone willing to pay that much for an old sixer. Especially the cannondale w single pivot. I feel fortunate to live in such a bike city that nice old sixers are actually affordable. Maybe it's the winters and muddy springs but Ohio mtbking is still in the dark ages IMO.

Just saw the new Carbon Cdale lefty from Interbike.  F_kin sexy!
