thank you, looking to head out there in the morning.

don't see that every day
-
my kind of trail especially if its techy.
-
if upgrading the bike makes your ride more enjoyable why not, I have a giant fathom that I upgraded the drivetrain, forks, wheels, brakes because it made the bike more suitable to my needs and wants and because I could.
-
I've seen many a critter on a ride but never a prairie dog.
-
got out for a couple of hours today, weather was not too bad and the trails were empty, good times.
-
I've had a couple of osprey packs over the years and they are decent, both have torn in various places but I just replaced them and moved on. The best pack that I have owned to date is my USWE pack which I have been using for the last couple of years without issues.

would be open to offers, as I said it just sits in the garage and maybe gets ridden 8-10 times a year as my rainy day ride bike.

I have a 2018 giant fathom sitting in the back of the garage with magura brakes, rs pike,, custom wheelset with dt hubs in a small if you would be interested. It would need new tires as the ones on there are seeping sealant, slx drive train and the fork might need to be service in the next 40-50 hours as it's been like 6-8 months since it has been done. There is a dent in the chainstay but it has been there for the last two years or more with over a thousand miles on it with no issues. Does not have a dropper as I do not like them on my hardtails for whatever reason but other than that it has been a solid bike.
I'm 5'6 and just a little heavier than your son so it should work for him, downside I am located in san antonio but I do ride purgatory creek and madrone weekly and could meet if need be.

Went there Sunday and had a surprisingly good time. As some of you know, I can be a bit critical of ctx trails but this one was all smiles. Well marked, good flow and great views. Terrain was really diverse and has a little of everything to offer and feels like a mixture of pedernales (minus all the rocks) RHR, Reimers, Bandera and a little RPR thrown in for good measure.
Hours are changing after Thanksgiving to open later and stay open a little longer. Heads up, there are no bathrooms and it's $10 a day.
IMHO, the builders laid the trails out with enough flow, that it'd be a super fun place for gravel bikes for @Barry & @mack_turtle etc. The single speed dudes would get a kick out of it as well. There's also still enough challenges to keep it interesting for full suspension bike guys.
Wife has declared Fredericksburg her new favorite trail now that most of RHR is basically closed. Was surprised how Well she handled 15 miles her first time out.
Totally recommend
Only picture I took but there is a lot of cool stuff to see.
want to check it out but the rock parts are what make me smile.

city park is one of my favorite places to ride and can be a humbling experience while at the same time motivates me to improve my riding skills.

use to have back issues back in my early 40's but focusing on core work along with yoga every morning I have been pain free for more than ten years now. Also flexibility has improved overall for myself exponentially, I can easily touch my toes and place my palms on the floor without issue which would have been near impossible 15 years ago.

was wondering if anyone has been out to canyon springs trail system out in Hunt, looks kinda on the small side but fun if you like rocky and tech like city park.

Wird from the locals is that Madrone is open and rideable. Park district took it over from the army.
it has been open for a bit, I usually get out there at least once a week, pretty much the same it has been for years with some new signage and cleaned up some as well.

I don't mind the temps, but could do with less rain.

I don't know if I've ever seen deer flies, mosquitoes yes and quite often.

Was nice out yesterday and this morning at flat rock no real heat even if I don't mind the heat.

I gave up motos for mountain bikes, last two bikes I had were dream bikes, RC30 and a NC30 that I imported from Japan and maybe put 10k between the two of them over 3-4 years. I miss them but it was time to move on.

I have nothing against it, but think it would just be uncomfortable to do so while riding.

you need a bigger trailer to take all the options with you.
