Advice from people who don't even know what the have in their wallet, may not be the best advice. Times have changed fella's, several years ago I think.

Sounds like a good basis for a movie script collaboration between Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino: Machete kills Schlong Lasers

this guy stretches the truth a lot to get that footage. not sure about ver. 3.
My kids love Mark Rober, and frankly, so do I. He teaches kids about science and engineering in a really fun way. He is not usually a "prank show". With all the other crap on Youtube, I could care less about him staging a little footage for this one. I hope it doesn't hurt his reputation as someone who seems to genuinely enjoys teaching.

If those were Hello Kitty stickers it would no longer be on Craigslist, it would be in my garage. While the wife thinks I have "enough bikes" (like that is a thing), a HK bike would be an allowed exception.
If you can dream it, you can do it!

It wasn't long ago that some of us thought the future was internally geared hubs and cranksets. Those I knew with a Rohloff hub swore by it. I can't remember the last time I've even heard of someone running one of those now.

Good luck to the employees. I've become friends with several of them over the years, and they are very cool people. It's not like they work at a bike shop to get rich. They are doing what they love, and I hope a corporate restructure doesn't affect that.

Full disclosure: This was the first cassette I bought as a kid. Still good.
This was the first cassette I ever bought. Still good. In my defense, I was a 10 y/o kid who couldn't put my clothes on the right way either. They really spoke to me.

Crazy weather yesterday. The fog and rain in the morning got me out on the roads instead of trails. It was perfect when I started. On the way home, I was fighting a headwind so hard that I was pedaling in my granny gear going downhill.- 6

Anyone have any experience with the Giro Fixture? It's one of their cheaper helmets, so I'm worried that I've spoiled myself better ones. I'm thinking about picking one up for super cheap with my crash replacement at least until the Great 2020 Bike Part Shortage is over.

I'l bet 30% off does not cover the cost of shipping if I replace it with the same helmet. I'm better off just buying something that's on sale.
They are also apparently victims of the limited supply chain. They don't have my size in any color for the one that have or my next choice. I'd imagine that there isn't much out there on sale either.

I was looking down at some tricky rocks in BCGB last night and bounced my helmet off a very solid tree. I was a bit dazed for a moment and my neck is just a bit sore from the jolt, but I'm OK. I emailed Giro about their "crash replacement" policy. I'm not expecting much, but they offer a discount for a new helmet if you crunch your old one. chance are, it's not much. However, I don't feel 100% certain this helmet is totaled. there's a small dent in the outer shell but I can't tell if the inside is compromised.
After further complaining to Giro yesterday, they gave me a 30% off code. Better than nothing. Best of luck to you.

Disc golf is fun. Mountain biking is fun. Both are fairly ridiculous if step back and look at it from a practicality standpoint.

Not entirely sure I understand your post, but obviously I think POC helmets are good quality, or I wouldn't have bought a supply of them.
I'm just bitching about my situation. I guess the point is that I think Giro makes a quality product, and this is one of their higher end helmets. If I had bought 4 of them when I bought this one, I'd have 3 additional helmets that are now out of warranty, and I'd be worried that they all might have this same issue.
Oh, and there may have been some confusion with POC vs. POS. I was referring to a piece of shit, not even thinking about how close to POC it looks.

So happy I cleaned out Division One's stock of XL/XXL POC helmets - lids for life! If you find something that works for you, it's well worth buying a second, because you never know when the supply chain might dry up.
Or when a thin, under spec'd, non-replaceable piece of plastic breaks, you are out of the 1 year warranty, and then you are stuck with multiple overpriced POS products.
Yes, I'm probably overly bitter about this, but I feel like the "most important piece of safety gear" should be able to survive a gear bag if I'm asking it to protect my brain in a violent crash.

And right on queue, I just got the reply from Giro saying they are not going to replace it. Guess I won't be cross-posting this one over to the "good customer service" thread.

I said earlier in this thread that I tend to just buy Medium Giros because I like the way they fit, but a failure like this gets me second guessing that logic. This is actually my second Giro that failed in the retention system. The first was a Hex many years ago. I believe they replaced that one under warranty.

Nice, I’m guessing hardly any traffic either. My ride Sunday on the bcgb was miserable with people everywhere causing me to slow or stop constantly
What time were you out there? I rode out there pretty early Sunday and actually commented how nice and empty it was at the creek crossings. Of course, staying off the main trail helps. It was also a chilly morning and perfect afternoon, so the crowd probably reflected that.

I noticed on Sunday that the plastic around the retention knob on my Giro Montaro is cracking, so (depending on if Giro's warranty covers it), I have a renewed interest in this thread. AB, what did you end up with?
