I was joking earlier. Obviously no one here will try to talk you out of buying another bike, so I thought I would try.
I've always had a second bike or two. It's fun to be able to a different type of ride when the weather's bad or just to add a little spice to your usual trails. Right now I have a CX bike as my second bike. It's fun, but I regret selling the 29er SS that I had before it. I had a rigid carbon fork and a 100mm Fox. I always ran it SS, but it was convertable to gears if I wanted. In a rigid, geared setup, I would have been able to do everything I currently do with the CX, but in a more comfortable (for me) flat bar setup. The take away is that if you can only have one second bike, versatility is a really nice quality to look for.

Don't do it. All you ever need is one bike - a full suspension with gears. If you must get a second bike, it should only be an e-bike. Zero exceptions.

I was thinking the same thing. Your competition is a shop that rents at close the same price, sets it up for your in the shop, and you know there is at least a minimum expectation of basic maintenance on the bike.

I'm "listening" to a conference call, so I had a chance to answer my own question.
Moab - 1 road bike
Bentonville - 1 "old school" trek early 90's single speed MTB and a pretty nice Salsa El Mariachi for $50/day
Whistler - no listings
Bend, OR had a bunch, but most of them were one guy. Everything from retro cruisers to road bikes and fat bikes - even just wheelsets, but not a single full suspension trail bike.

It would also seem that they hired a road bike guy to build a mountain bike. That's gonna produce a carbon xc hardtail every time.

I carry a single aspirin in my pack in case someone on a ride I'm on goes into a cardiac event. Luckily, I haven't had to use it, which means that one is probably a 10 year old pile of dust that needs to be replaced. I think giving someone having a heart attack an aspirin is still a thing, right?

I might try mack_turtle's candle wax crockpot method so that I can change the mood for each upcoming season. I'll probably start with French Lavender for this spring, then give way to Fresh Linen during the summer months. Who could resist a little Pumpkin Spice when the weather starts cooling down in the fall, and of course, smells of cinnamon, sugar cookies, and evergreen trees come holiday season.
Coming up next on "Martha Steward Shreds", we'll bake a delightful, energy-packed snack bar, perfect for those long solo rides, or share them trailside with your bros.

It's been some time since I purchased but this Here are my options when I got my Pathfinder (2011)
- 1996-2004 4runner: 200-250K miles, $10K-14K
- 2001.5-2004 Pathfinder: 100K-140K miles, $5K-8K
My wife had a 2010 4runner. We both loved that car. She totaled it (the day I was leaving for a week long bike trip to CO, but that's another story). She wanted to go down to the Toyota dealer and buy another 4runner. I talked her into the Pathfinder (2014) because of the 3rd row seating with our growing family. I've regretted it everyday since. However, I will say that the newer Pathfinders are much more car-like than the early 2000's.
I've been thinking about a 2000ish 4runner for myself lately. I drive very little, so my priorities are decent reliability, low entry cost (don't need anything depreciating un-driven in the driveway), easy to find replacement parts (and less computerized bullshit to break), and 4 doors good for dropping kids off at school. I'll be interested to see where this thread goes.

What's up with the way they are trying to guard Harden? It's like they are so scared of him going to his left or taking the step-back 3, that they are literally bodying up on his left butt cheek and letting him have free access into the lane. I mean, I'm a Rockets fan, so I say keep doing it, but WTF?

I just had a strange thought. Now, I don't know all the details regarding the whole distributor and minimum pricing rules, so let me know if I'm way off. Here's my understanding. Local shops have to buy from a distributor (QBP). QBP sets a minimum price that shops must follow. Bike manufacturers and foreign internet shops can buy directly from the component companies, which is why you can ALWAYS find the same part at a fraction of the cost online.
Now that Walmart is a bike manufacturing company, and they are already kings of distribution, will they be able to sell good bikes parts online or even in the store at a competitive price as the foreign online retailers? Will I be able to go down to Wallyworld and pick up a new XTR chain and a pack of hotdogs?

I could be wrong, but my guess it the "beginner" reference has as much or more to do with the 27.5+ wheels than the price. I've been riding a mid-fat for a couple years and have always gotten the old "How do you like those wide tires? I think my wife/child would like that." as though an experience rider couldn't benefit from the increased cush and traction.
