  1. Timing that flow. It's a mind fuck for sure. The fact that it can change from one ride to the next make it's more of a mind fuck...you're thinking, "what's down there today to grab my wheel and fuck me over the bars?" It's alive. But seriously, we've name a lot of shit, but only ONE feature on Rim/Dave's was named. @Morealice dubbed "The Gate", which no longer exists because it's in the closed section...it was right at the very top of Rim climb before you turn right...the small gap in the ridge, you can still see The Gate just beyond the cedar fence.
  2. You're making shit up, G-outs never had their own names. Dave's Glitch was the name of each of the trails on the either side of Dave's Ditch. Dave's Glitch EAST is the whole trail between the ditch and Rim Job, Dave's Glitch WEST was the whole trail that was on the west side, the one that was closed. Combined they were AKA Campfire Loop.
  3. When I had C5-7 fused, multiple disc replacement for cervical discs were barely in trials in the US. I considered paying out of pocket and flying to Germany, but the expense was just too much. Follow up and "support" would not be feasible, unless you're among the significantly richer than me crowd.
  4. It would be so cool if we had all the carnage documented...although half of the list would be me I think. That's 2 femurs I am aware of broken at Brushy Trails...
  5. East of Brushy Creek proper, north of Walsh Lake...opposite Suburban Ninja. Nothing too exciting...it's more of a venture for me to have a few miles of dirt between my backyard and Ninja. It won't last, once the South Indigo (big empty spot between my start/end and Suburban) property is developed it'll be gone, or most of it will.
  6. My suggestion is just ride everything you see, ride trails in both directions. I find that 2 loops in particular flow (for me) waaaay better than I see 99% of people riding them. Also, strava-stalk and see what others are riding, use the flyby feature and see if people ride in different directions, it's also a good way to find new trails in the area your ride was in. Re: Church - what @circuitbreaker said, just ride and get lost, I've found what works for me via trial and error. I go through the gate, go right at the first 2 interconnections, then I stay left until I reach the Fire Station, then ride the double track across from it, to the single track which leads to the jumps and drops. Forgive my unconventional start from my house - I have a low water crossing to the Penis Peninsula I am using to ride to/from home. https://www.relive.cc/view/vYvE979M9wv Note: I will be throwing down some trail on the east side of Brushy, across from SN. Here's another where I start from Peddler/RH, https://www.relive.cc/view/vDqgJBk1wG6
  7. Likely freeze protection. Temp sensor might close master valve, open all other to let these low heads drain.
  8. False flats are a bitch, eh?
  9. EBD would be the main one "after a climb", I suppose there's a bit of a climb up to Jammer...Jammer is tougher, IMO than EBD. I got REAL lucky when we did this video, I cleaned everything on this ride, no dabs, no double take, reshoots. Jammer: EBD:
  10. Rode at 9am and noon today. Noon was better, hotter, but way less humid, 2 beers in. Rode where humidity tends to hang around through morning. Short downpour was great for about a second. Afternoon heat was tough, but body could breath.
  11. Interesting, 2 weeks ago it was fine, maybe a single board missing then.
  12. @First Blood @Morealice Chad, Brett, and Jesse - we flagged Gum Drop on Feb 11 (day I re-rupture my Achilles), Mike and Josh punched through the end on March 3rd!!! I know Jesse and Chad did a lot of work in the shitty bits full of vines and swamp...there are some curse words said about that stuff and "Eric's gimp ass", and "Mark Sanchez will only tread and not do real work", LOL. In Sacnhez's (aka @Morealice ) defense he WAS the brains behind Gum Drop, minus the sick wooden bits.
  13. Made me go through the hidden "double deception" blog posts and dig up the original master plan map I drew for it... Circa Feb 2014
  14. It's not RR or CP, it's Austin. As I recall when looking into the (failed) Master Plan to build Candyland it is a wondeful mix of Wilco, 2 different HOA/MUDs, COA Water Utility and Avery Ranch Golf Course. Cedar Park starts NORTH of Brushy. Kudos to AJ and Josh for that awesome feature.
  15. Who gives a shit, it's a trail, run it, ride it, walk it. It's a good trail for running for sure, a lot more forgiving and a lot easier than Deception. That said, I think Peddlers would be the least idea for running, but that still just a matter of opinion. Way too many tight areas to collide with the bikers that for some reason actually like to ride Peddlers.
  16. I definitely agree, the loss of this trail is not a major issue, I certainly enjoyed it prefer it over going down to BCRT. The fact that they wouldn't even discuss an alternative lower trail to avoid both the houses and the BCRT and several other factors were the catalyst. One of there primary issue has always been the intersection of singletrack and BCRT, this is absolutely understandable. We proposed a solution to avoid going down to the BCRT while providing a singletrack connection to Rim Loop, they were not interested in even discussing this. As for losing more trail - don't be concerned with the main 1/4 Notch, DD, and Picnic trails (Mulligan is officially NOT part of either Wilco or City trails, the golf course could close it down if they want, Wilco could put fences there and it would not surprise me). However, we had to fight tooth and nail multiple times to convince them to allow us to keep Rim/Dave's open. So, if anything in the future may be closed, it would be Rim Loop. I am NOT saying this was discussed or implied in this most recent mtg, but it was discussed multiple times in the past. I repeat the closure of this section is not the reason for my departure, I'm not interested in continuing to work with the county at this point.
  17. Good question. Short answer, not their words: It’s easier to say no. It’s easier to manage their smaller sphere. It’s easier to maintain passive preserves. It’s easier to just report on the as-is and not present new stuff. They dangled carrots of other tracts that we might be able to develop on, but it was just a way to get us to knock out their punch list, make sure we could be good stewards, which we did, were, but those tract are for purely passive use.
  18. Wow. just wow. The reason for the closure was a property owner complaint to the County Commissioner, Terry Cook, commissioner1@wilco.org https://www.wilco.org/comm1 In the mtg y'day Wilco Parks and Rec director Russell Fishbeck 512-943-1922, Cell 512-409-1124 russell.fishbeck@wilco.org and Michael Young Supervisor 512-943-1923 michaelyoung@wilco.org advised Cullen and I that they intend to close this section of trail. They asked that we work with the local communities to help communicate, faciliate, and ultimately maintain the closure. We asked they give us advanced notice before doing so, in order to get communication out with dates, maps, description of the closure. They agreed to give us a heads up before proceeding with the actual closure. They also were not interested in discussing an alternative route further from the houses. It was also clear they have no intention of allowing any future ARR development on their parks. With this latest development, including their willful deceit I am no longer going to continue to be the Trail Steward. I cannot continue to work with these folks, from day one they have made us feel like a thorn in their side. My decision is not a knee-jerk reaction, it's not based purely on this occurrence, and it is with extremely heavy heart (more than you can imagine) that I step away.
  19. Absolutely 100% FAKE NEWS. Funny, the "today" part too. I met with the county this week (y'day). No existing official trail segment is going to be closed. This is not supposed to be public news yet, but obviously rumors have started. 5.0 or Up and Over, the short segment that connects Double Down to The Rim via the high ridge is planned to be closed (again). the trail segment has been officially closed since the trail become legit. This segment was closed right away and we maintained the closure for the first year and then just let it be. The county didn't care until the Commissioner received a complaint. PLEASE be patient and wait for an OFFICIAL Announcement before you contact the county commissioner...I mean, assuming you want to. ARR will be working with the county to enforce this closure and we understand it's out of the Parks and Rec hands, but a decision made by the Commissioner's Court.
  20. I suppose that is one method to help make Peddlers Pass ~enjoyable.
  21. You savages need AC in your garages.
  22. AJ Camp, Owner of Peddler bike shop started the trail.
  23. Ride that little off-shoot with caution like everything else, but especially a blind drop like that. It is a dick move, but that little off shoot is not part of the "official" trail. Imagine if there was someone riding through at the moment you are bombing down - there is no sight line for either of you and no time to adjust. I'm not trying to harsh on your stoke, just saying, like everything else in MTB it's all a somewhat calculated risk.
  24. Just an FYI, literally right above the big waterfall is where the county property line ends, despite where the fence is. I know it looks like the county property goes much further than the existing trail, but to the east and south, we are already pretty much on the boundary. The west we have some wiggle room, however, the superintendent wanted it closed to "protect artifacts". I would like to challenge this with the new parks director. The digging has continued since it was closed an fenced. We (Josh, me, and ARR) are going to try to get access back to the old trail (with modification) that goes up and around the ditch and comes down directly across from the existing line at the bottom of the ditch - bringing back the loop. Wilco has a new Parks director, he's a MTBer, so we are going to pitch a few plans to get some trail back as well as introduce some new trail as well. No promises, wish us luck.
