It took me a few times rolling up to that one before I finally went for it. It’s not as bad as it looks but it took me a few times before I could really match the landing angle. Landing rear wheel first will really snap you forward. 4102d929154d2d305015822ae6367cd7.jpg

I checked the map and thought it was the north side, but you guys could be right. But it's on the end of Picnic closest to the 183. Not the basket drop area.

Honestly, I think it is more "West Side" than anything, but we got what you are talking about.  I think the general concensus is that most of the trails on Brushy system are either E to W or W to E.

Anyone have a favorite feature at Brushy? Mine has to be the left drop at the beginning of the north end of picnic. It’s not the most difficult drop, but is exciting because you enter pointing down, drop for a few feet and then land going downhill which just shoots you down the trail. Makes me smile every time.

Just to be clear this on the end of Picnic closest to 183A?   I haven't worked my way up to that drop.  I'm just now doing the middle drop on the far other end of Picnic (basket drop).  It's a good beginner drop.  Next, I'm trying to get the nerve to do the one just to the right of the one I'm doing, then graduate to this one in the pic.

    Great riding!

  4. I had personally repaired some of the bridge a few months ago, but I know the main framing of it cracked a few weeks ago so it probably got trashed.  Hopefully someone saved some of the wood because it was brand new stuff.

I kind of like the new creek water crossing, but want to add some gravel rocks on the one side to avoid major rutting/mud.   This "loop" is one of my favorite trails to ride as it has a little bit of everything so I'm happy to help keep it in shape.

I always think about this when i ride walnut.

But to the other point. Riders do need to be more proactive about our reputation. I try to be as kind as possible when dealing with other trail users, and am a huge advocate for a good bell.

I am definitely the same way.  I always try to be as kind as possible.  "have a good day" "nice weather" etc...

That reminds me of something I saw for the first time in an unmentionable trail somewhere in ATX.

So when I see vague posts about unmentionable trails, does this mean people are referring to trails on private property?   Can someone maybe DM me some details?  Just curious to learn,

Just rolled up on the biggest coyote I've ever seen out on Suburban Ninja.  He was just sitting there staring in someones back yard, then saw me coming and took off.  Pretty sure he was about to eat someone's pet lol.

Luckily you didn't get hit by the Anvil dropping from the tree!

I thought it would be muddy at brushy so I headed to reville peak ranch. It was super dry.

got a few clips. Super stoked I conquered the steps with the drop on super d

That is really awesome.  We went to RPR as well on Saturday.  They've really improved their trail markings!    Super impressed with you doing the steps and drops on Super D.  I can't even imagine having the nerve to do that.

I went out this morning for ride. Deception is g2g (watch for the Christmas tree some jackass dumped out there). Picnic and Mulligan are g2g. Typical wet spots on Mulligan. West side of Parmer on Peddlers Pass was still fairly tacky/slick with tutting occurring in some areas. East side was g2g, overall the West side needs more time to dry in my opinion. Snow White, Gumdrop were g2g. I didn’t check out Rim or Snail but given how Deception was I imagine they’re good.

Did you mean to say West Side (sports park) side was g2g and the east side was no-go?  I’ve been finding East side to be taking longer to get ready.

No matter what, I just want to thank you for all the effort you put into updating trail status so frequently.

To be honest I rode walnut muddy many times 5 years ago and I had no idea I was messing up the trail. I just met two other bikers that didn’t know either at brushy. “Isn’t mud part of mountain biking?” they understood when I explained.  I think many just don’t know about the potential damage

This is my contention on most of the 'mudders"   I choose to believe most just honestly don't know better and this it is "part of mountain biking."

    I choose education!

  11. If I paid $60ish to have "Please do not ride WET TRAILS" for about 50 signs, would it be ok to put them out over the BCRT trail system and Suburban Ninja?

I  honestly think some people just have no idea it ruins the trail.   They think it is fun to slosh around in the mud.

Yes, definitely. Will take you for a tour of what I know of so far. I have actually finally created my "loop" of the area, that includes all of the area (minus a few short connectors) that has the least amount of doubling back. Cafeend and I just went out on xmas day and did this loop, and based on Strava it's between 8-8.4 miles. Really good flow for the most part, and if you're so inclined, you can do AJ's crazy stuff, and also the jump lines on the Church area.

We just need someone to get our there with a roll of paper towel and dry the trails out 🙂

Maybe new years day, if it's dry?

Would you mind sending me your loop?

Speaking as a “bigger” guy who enjoys riding and would love some competition....what are the chances of having a heavy weight class? A few folks mentioned a tandem class last time, and a tandem class appeared. I know there’s quite a few guys that are 250+ on this forum that would love to compete! But, my 280+ body will never beat a 150lb dude in my age group. A “husky” class might be appropriate. It might motivate us heavier guys to train. I know I would sign up for it! Any other bigger guys interested? Just a suggestion....

I would totally appreciate this as well!  I've ran half marathons in "Clydesdale" class.  It would be great to have this for one race.  I'm 300 right now.

Definitely nowhere near 100% but 80% is all that is required to resume full activities. I'll post an update in the Injury thread so as not to derail the Brushy thread.

One thing I noticed just riding upper Picnic is that alt lines have been put in around the tree that sits right behind a section of roots when going W-E. You used to have to cross those roots and stay on the right side of the tree. Over time if I recall correctly that alt line to the left of the tree got started. I've always stayed true to the original line, but now I see that there is a second alt line going up high on the right and around the tree. Was that by design to avoid riding over the roots or is that another unsanctioned line?

I'm sure it is unsanctioned but it's the most fun way to go through that section 🙂

sub'd to get notified on when the updated Waivers are available.

Curious as to the entrances. This weekend, I accessed it through a previously closed gate on the East'ish corner of the property. This is technically from SN but not the Northern entrance at the bottom of the jump lines. Is this ok?

I was told the gate along SN was the "desired entrance" of the intended flow of the trail.
