I forgot who on here sparked the idea but last weekend we did our third family cook day. Idea is that each of us draws for a meal. BF. Lunch. Dinner and desert.
The kids both have really stepped up. They have to find what they want to cook. How it might be done. Obtain ingredients (us) And then cook it. Serve it and clean the mess up. My wife has Celiac disease so of course everything has to fit her needs.
We are only allowed to advise and not help them.
Been fun and a lot of laughs and learning. They have always cooked but this is above the normal stuff.
My girl did from scratch Ravioli
And also did a CreamPuff pastry with a cinnamon custard with fruit.

I am stunned , that was amazing to see and the utter implosion of Barca.
Watching the post game now and its all about the fall of the Barca team
Watching PSG win the other day made me so mad\sad but if I can see them lose to a German team now, I'll cry happy tears

Kind of strangely cool when my teen daughter comes home tonight and starts showing me pics of Snail Trail on her IG and TikTok. She isn't even a biker and it somehow fell into her world because its cool and she wanted to show me and asked if I knew of it.
Girl if you only knew...

Wait.. doesn't that whole area flood? Just a couple years ago there was bad flooding right?Im currently watching excavators strip all the trees and grass from the hillside across from me. The COA, in their greed fueled wisdom are allowing developers to destroy some of the last of the remaining land with any elevation in south austin. The COA is also allowing the developers to build without retention ponds and instead install a 9ft drainage pipe to channel all the water from these developments right into onion creek. That will without a doubt will erode houses from their slabs during the next big flood. Hypocrites.

Wait. Why? I don't get itI planned to use this tool once and it didn't even make it that far. however, the fact that I broke the tool doing this might be an indication that the job's fate was sealed from the start. I should leave it alone and just get used to getting my bike un-stuck with this tool instead:
Yes, that's on my bike now. I need a name for it. how about "The Compromise." I only know one person who could convince me that, instead of buying a bicycle that fits me and suits my needs, I should zip tie an old toothbrush to my bike instead.

Sounds to me like this is an awesome adventure and you guys will make some great memories.
You will get a ton of advice but it is based on the experiences of the person commenting, doesnt mean you need to haul all your possessions with you though.
When my kids were younger and we traveled to where ever we almost always took too much stuff we thought we needed and just never used.
In the end we did not need all that crap. After a lot of miles and trips we learned to travel simple and no one cared. Live in the moment without the creature comforts or trappings of life. The basics will get you by fine.
And Yea ,, report back this sounds pretty cool.

My T Handle hex set are invaluable to me. I second the torque wrench. Chain whip.
A good stand because crappy ones are no fun. Figure out what you need to pull apart your BB and get that specific tool since there are different kinds.
Once you get rolling you will know what you actually need and not need.

This is such a simple solution.
Road trip - day one is go to somewhere near sea level. You tell her you have a reservation for a week. Then, 3 hours into the first day you say "you know, I only booked for a day not a week, looks like I screwed up. Should I add 6 more days or do you want to point the car north tomorrow morning."
Don't blame me if it doesn't work. I'm locked down here for a few more months.
Fixed It
This is such a simple solution.
Road trip - day one is go to somewhere near sea level. You tell her you have a reservation for a week. Then, before you leave have a buddy call you pretending to be the resort to say the resort had to close due to 'Rona. Tell you are so sad she couldnt get her way, even make yourself get a little teary eyed. Then goto New Mexico.

If you look through here https://cedarparkatlas.com/ there is some great data and if used in conjunction with the Wilco Tax site you can see there are a lot of owners who own what we ride in SN. Not shocked and I personally dont see the area that we use freely as a long term place to ride.

You know some of the predicted rain over the weekend would have been nice on the trails today.
