  1. So Sunday will mark 10 weeks since I broke my collar bone and dislocated my shoulder. I am back on the bike and had a couple rides from Brushy up through SN in the last week or so.

Tonight I tackled Picnic and 1/4 and Rim. I unfortunately snapped a spoke exiting Rim and took the walk of shame back, But damn it felt good to be back in the saddle

  2. Yesterday AJ posted up on IGram that he has bikes. He no longer keeps them at his shop because of dirt bag low lifes like to steal bikes. But he said that if you want something to hit them up. Might be worth a trip in to see what he can do.

I believe Velogartun has rides as well now

  3. Since due to my injury it looks like I won't be on the trails in awhile.

I am looking at trainers to use with my bike at home or possibly a stationary bike

This would be a short term thing since I can't stomach having a stationary bike taking up space in my garage so I'd want to ditch it in a few months. But trainers look to store better but are pricy.

Any real pro and cons to either?

I likely will try to find something off FB or CL and not buy new

Riding through that neighborhood between Brushy and SN around 4:30 or 5 pm is a parade of awesome smells. There are a lot of Indian families living in there and the smells from those kitchens are amazing.

Yes! Smells are amazing over there.

  5. Something I love when I ride is the smells of people cooking. Smells going through the woods as I ride through.
Over by SN behind the Italian place.. smelling the garlic bread type of smell is awesome to me.

  6. Follow up to my previous follow up...
On my second ride with my rebuilt shock, this happened. Oil everywhere. This was on a Saturday. I called and emailed TrailLabs, but they are closed on the weekend. Followed up with a phone call on Monday morning. After explaining the issue, they sent me a UPS shipping label. Dropped the shock off at UPS around noon on Monday. I got the shock back Saturday afternoon and was able to ride on Sunday. The shock seemed fine yesterday doing some pretty hard laps at Spider, but I guess we'll see how it holds up. Obviously, it's very frustrating to have to send parts back and lose the better part of a week, but I am still impressed with their customer service and turnaround times. As long as I don't continue to have issues I'd still tentatively recommend them, although I could have lived without the preachy note they included when they returned my shock.

What was the preachy note if you don't mind sharing the gist?

  7. Well, finally finished the boxes for the 2nd story and as expected they were quite the whore to install. Warning, white trash installation technique incoming.

  8. Eeeesh, that bad bruise is right over your heart -- consider it a good outcome that you're still here.
It started as a good sized hematoma above the collarbone on my lower neck. The Doc said as the week progressed it would flow down into the chest as it drained from my neck.

  9. Damn dude - so sorry to hear this! Is surgery going to be required? Hopefully that sternoclavicular dislocation is popping outward and not inward!
Thanks. No where near as bad as yours was with your leg. CT revealed the dislocation was minimal and the break is just more like a crack so in either case no surgery is needed.
They all said it was gonna be pretty sore till its not. But I've feared this break for years and feel relieved it has happened finally

  10. So went out and left BC to run my route up to SN and back. Actoss the dam a guy came up on me and didn't pass. Game on.
We dropped off the side trail by Gnargasm and booked it toward Gum Drum.
I don't know what exactly happened but he told me that I cleared one root but clipped a trunk and like that I was OTB hard.
Hit my head . Face and landed on the back of my shoulder.
Turns out that after x-rays at DOC and then onto St David's for CT scan I broke my clavicle and it is dislocated from the sternum.
But thanks to whoever I was riding with. I think his name is Jared or Jaret or something. But whoever he is I am grateful for him and what little time we spent hauling mad ass , I had fun bro!

  11. 19th try was the trick. I was not able to use the plug donated by Chief but finally got the headset tightened up.
I will confess I managed to strip the head of the plug bolt. Someday down the rode I'll be cursing myself. It'll be a easy fix but a pain.
    Thanks all!

  12. It's the compression plug. I went through this on my last road bike. it seems not all compression plugs are the same. I have one you can try if you want to see if that's the problem.
I'll text you. Thanks . Worth a shot

  13. Thanks ..
It is a integrated headset from Wolftooth
Its been on this bike for 11 months with a RockShox fork.
I move the race over from the RockShox fork and moved all the pieces directly over as well. I do have several of the .10 spacers I can play with. I know this is not Apple to Apples but the only difference is the new fork and using a plug instead of a star nut now. Every other piece is the same.

  14. I swapped out a squish fork for a carbon Whisky on one of my bikes.
For the life of me I cannot get the headset dialed in perfectly snug. There is a maddening slight play and I just can't seem to take out the smallest slack.
I have played with different spacers and still can't get the headset tightened correctly.
    What can I be missing?

  15. What. An. Ending.
The game, not so much, but those kicks were spellbinding.
I thought the English were pretty unsportsmanlike with the medals, but, it's not as bad as some of their fans were today. Nice videos of the fans crashing the gates and punching out the workers trying to hold them back.
    Karma and Schadenfreude
