Do they make that much of a difference? I mean I have a perfectly good set of handlebars now. Is it worth the upgrade?
They are standard al. bars but filled with some sort of solidified gel. The idea being the gel absorbs vibrations. Does it work? I can say yes. I noticed a big difference off the bat. The rides were not quite as harsh, allowing me to add more pressure to the front tire and not run so soft. I do not encounter soreness in my wrist like before or in my shoulders. (mind you they are wider then my other bars were so that might be a good factor in the shoulder aspect) If I rode primarily something like Walnut where it is not what I would call rocky and harsh then I wouldnt bother.
If you ride LGT, BC, CP or the GB where the chunk and shake factor is much higher then yes. The weight penalty is minimal and the ROI in places like that is good. They are not pricey , especially on sale

I’ve been very pleased with the Spank Oozy 760s Vibrocore bars.
No more pain in my shoulders or wrists
A lot less roughness

SBT in New Mexico this June. I haven't been to too MANY mtb destinations but the last 10 miles of the SBT broke my brain. In a good way. I just wanted more more more.

Sucks.Just got back from a trail walk. Totally hosed and has a few ruts from assholes. I got to yell at a few people for riding wet trails and feel better about myself for it.
The bad part of my hike was that my hidden stash/tackle box is inundated with water. My weed was totally soaked and my snacks were disgusting. The tools and non-edible supplies were fine though.
If it makes you feel better .. Me and Smithy smoked the weed and just filles that ziplock with grass trimmings.

I put 4 bikes on it to literally drive 1.5 miles at about 15mph for a single shuttle run at cat.
So glad I saw this because I keep looking at the picture trying to figure out why you guys were all kitted out and helmets on and the van was facing one and the rack another. Makes sense now.

Ive been tempted to go up and use my trailer and camp. But it is a shortish drive and the Air BnBs and Homeaways are tempting so a trailer isnt economical all things considered. But I like it and it is relaxing.

No I think Brushy is out for sure, and we might even get more rain today. Not sure about the rest of you, but I'd probably be down for an early AM trip out to RPR in lieu of our regular Brushy ride. We'd have to call and get clearance in advance since officially they don't open the gates until like 4pm. However, I've heard informally that they are generally there and open to riding all day on Fridays. Alternatively, we could take a run over to CP and ride a cautious lap or two there.
Says the retired guy 🙂 I still gotta hit work. I maybe might be bring my non mt bike klunker beast and just do a casual ride on the concrete path

This has been an informal group ride generally starting from the YMCA or the 183A overpass at 7:30AM. We mix up the routes using combinations of Snail, Rim, Picnic, Deception, and Peddlers. Definitely not a beginner friendly ride, but comfortable pace with a few stops over a couple of hours. Message me if you're interested in more details.
I dont even have to ask about tomorrow morning do I?
MAYBE instead I can bust out my Klunker and ride the path from the Y to points North and back.

TRAIL KARMA IS ALVIE....
I was building today when along comes a guy slipping and sliding on every turn. I called out to him, but he ignored me. Then wham, a big stick or rock got stuck in his derailleur and snapped it clean off...ha ha. I still walked over to him and told him not to ride wet trails.
LOVE when that stuff happens to people.
Is there an official stance from the County or City or Parks Dept on signs at the trail heads indicating that riding\hiking in poor \ wet \ muddy conditions is not good? We all know douches will ride regardless but might keep the honest folks honest.
Where is Ron "Effing" Swanson when you need him ?

I keep a piece of cut wire hanger. It is about 6 inches long and bent on each end at 90 degrees. This is because it is a PITA to hold a broken chain and fix at the saame time. Just drop the hanger piece in and let it hold each end of the chain while I repair it.

I picked these up the last time my family CFO went out of town. I like them and no more shoulder or hand painFor those seeking vibration dampening, have you considered the Spank Vibrocore? They're aluminium with a dampening foam injected into them. Probably my next handlebar purchase.
