Did a ride at noon scouting out a Crank and Drank route. Got a 12 mile ride in. With a couple of adjustments it will do just fine for tonight. See you at 6 pm behind ATX.

Don't know what the official policy is at UT, but my wife works there, and she says she they are EVERYWHERE.

I had 3 1/2" of rain in my home gauges this morning. I would say Tuesday might happen if no more rain. None in the forecast, right?

It passed.
The Austin mountain biking community owes Kent big time. The fact that he'll go out (frequently) and dig and trim, and coordinate so that others will productively do so also, pales in comparison to his efforts in the legal wranglings that preserve access to trail, and gains access to new trails.
Yesterday was a very good thing and it happened largely because of Kent. Maybe a great way to pay him back would be to listen to his gentle admonishments when he is saying to stay out of a certain area, or how to take care of trails, or to show up for a meeting when a supportive crowd is needed. Or something as simple, and fun as, showing up for a trail work day when a call goes out!

All that space under Ben White. It's perfect and Dan's Hamburgers is like right there.
Too late. That's being made into a Cap Metro parking lot

I always remember the flag thing by "blood runs downhill."

I like the videos that show the crashes too. Not because I enjoy watching crashes, but so I can say to myself, "that's why I don't try that kind of stuff." But I just KNOW I look EXACTLY like that when I hop a 1' ledge!

I just rode the VCT route using the chain. I don't ride there a lot so don't know what to compare with, but it was plenty full along there. with rapids and all that.

Not a "Strawman alert." His point was pertinent to the conversation. Where is the line drawn as to who is poor and needs help?
I've made the point before about the "poor" people that only have 63 channels on their cable service. And why doesn't everyone have a car? That's just not right or just.
These who-gets-what decisions should be made by the free market. Not someone pulling levers and pulleys somewhere.

The Bowie MTB/ATX Bikes Grand Reopening event is going to happen. 10:30 Saturday morning, ATX Bikes

The word on the street is that the event will happen regardless. Accommodations will be made about bad trails.

This is getting ridiculous. To be able to ride dirt you have to be at your doorstep in a sprinter's position. Listen to the weatherman, check your rain gauge, look at social media to hear the chatter, and then...maybe...hopefully...there's a small window of opportunity and...GO GO GO. Ride NOW! And then...it rains again. FRRRRUUUCKKKK!
That is exactly how yesterday was.

That makes complete sense and would be very logical so of course there is not a chance of that ever happening.

Huh? Pay?! You mean all that money doesn't come free from somewhere?

This is a very fun event. The post ride activities are great too. I just hope the weather cooperates for it. It's looking iffy right now. I wonder if there is a rain date set.

Where do you live? Tell me that and I can tell you your closest point of access.

Leaf blowers are lame when compared to what a weed trimmer can do. Weed trimmer can "blow" a trail much much faster than a leaf blower. Wet leaves easily too. It has the bonus of doing trimming if needed of course. Just try it once.

Shoot, I didn't even know you could get more than a day's history! So no idea about mobile stuff
-
Ha! You DO learn something new every day!
Thanks.

I use Wunderground:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KTXAUSTI1203
It took me a long time to discover that I could click on "icon" to find the rain amounts all over my area. It only gives amount since midnight though.

Apocryphal as some make it sound, e-MTBs are not going to ruin the sport that is our lifestyle.
Just like "those newfangled motorized golf carts" didn't ruin golf courses back when this same controversy roiled about them.

I feel bad for whoever didn't get a ride in last night. Best night of the year.
Nodding my head in agreement as I listen to the rain falling on my house right now.

E-bikes will just bring more people to a finite amount of mtb trails and nothing good will come of that in places like texas.
I don't think we should fear things that bring more people to mountain biking. There is not a "finite amount of trails." Demand will increase supply. This happened in both golf and skiing as they increased in popularity. The end result being that there were more courses and more ski areas to chose from.
The more people that call themselves mountain bikers the better it is for all of us.
But I still haven't decided how I feel about ebikes.

Cool, thanks for the input. We are going out there after Christmas. Is there some easy stuff that my not so much of a mountain biking wife would enjoy?
We were going to go to Palo Duro on a big swing around, but the forecast calls for lows in the 20s and highs only in the mid 40s. Nope!
