  1. yes Im mainly thinking of the trails west of mopac that is on limestone. Im not saying there is zero erosion, but Im wondering if the scale of it is several orders of magnitude less than the erosion that made environmentalists concerned about erosion in the first place. So cxagent cited a section that turns to mush, but that is very different than a trail causing 3 ft deep drains 1/4 mile long, that sent hundreds of tons of material into creeks. The water was channeled down the trail and in the SO cal rains they had recently, that channeled water grooved out huge gaps.
Yeah, I agree that it can't be that much of a measuresble impact. You can't judge by standing at a spot and going "ooooooh that looks bad". You have to have objective measurements.

  2. seems like any discussion of the impacts of erosion need to differentiate between the impacts at the site of the erosion and the impact of the material that was eroded away on creeks and streams. I personally don't see well designed bike or foot trails causing much damage of either type. The worst erosion I see seems to only cause a trail to be less fun (fall line booshit).

Also, you can't generalize much since the blackland prairie stuff behaves differently from the hilly limestone stuff.

One week certainly isn't too long. But you may also consider taking the day to make the fairly short drive (< 1.5 hour, I think) to Fruita for the Kokopelli Area's Horsethief Bench and other trails.

    ^^^this.

My trips out that way usually include camping in Fruita and day trips to Moab as weather dictates or just to hit the Moab stuff.

After seeing that ^ maybe they should bring Gravity Logic or someone similar to build trails with actual features. Not sure this grassroots design is the way to go. Corridors could be wider and more airtime humps are needed IMO but need to actually ride to see for sure.  Is the $50 day pass official? Also anyone gonna use a neck brace? I have a dusty full face already. Neck braces are like $250.

neckbraces get much more expensive after you crash.

  5. Between 512 and Spider Mtn, those of us with enduro bro bikes now have more chances to see what the bikes can do. I know my bike wonders WTF is happening and when it'll get let off the leash.

I hope they find a good business model and grow the place. I look forward to checking it out.

Their website pricing of $50 for "Pedal Only Access" that does not include use of the lift is patently absurd.

They're basically saying that if you are going to be using the trails, just pony up for the lift. I'm also surprised that they don't have a lower price for people who are willing to ride to the top. Maybe it's a hedge against eBikes zipping their way up to the top with ease?? ha.

Their pricing generally seems a bit in need of massaging but, hey, it's not my business. I'm excited to have it and I'll just have to see how often I take advantage of it.

Measurement comparing to saddle height from the ground, if that's what you mean, is a red herring. It does not take BB hieght I to account. Throw sag in there and you're chasing your tail. Now put a dropper post in the equation and you're just wasting time. Your seated pedalling position has nothing to do with wrangling the bike.

Effective reach and stack start with the BB isolated in space and determine your range of motion. This is the gold standard to start fitting a mountain bike.  if you're fitting a road bike, where your seated pedalling position is important, that's a different story.

I thought the gold standard was Hopping Up On That Badboy And Yanking It Up To Your Junk?
