Anyone have Labor Day free and want to explore SATN? I would like to get an early ride in and you can tag along.

How early and how well do you know the trails?  I am interested.  I didn't get out to ride today as I had hoped to.  I know some of the trails, but it would be a small "some" relative to everything that's out there (I have a 20 mile loop that I do starting at Dick Nichols, which includes Slaughter Creek, Boneyard, and the trails northwest of Boneyard that meet up with Mopac).

Went out to Brushy this evening, car said it was 102 when I started at 6pm and 90 when I finished at 8pm.  Not sure I believe that, but it was rather hot.  Not humid, though, which was nice!  I would have stayed out longer, but my light mount appears to have fallen off my handlebars, maybe it was loose and came off at 80mph on 45. So I had to abort on doing any of Deception and Snail.

There was almost nobody on the trails, which is understandable given the heat, of course.  Did start to see more people as it got later (and cooler).  At one point when I was in Peddlers it started getting quite windy very rapidly, like an outflow boundary or something..  That was quite weird!

The post at the entry looks great!  @HoneyBadger Did you actually plant the cactus there?  Look forward to seeing more!

I'm jealous. I've only seen the post about the post. I have yet to see the post.

I bet you'll be seeing more posts about more posts soon and then maybe see the posts in person and you can then post again about the posts!

I ran across a group of at least 5 going the wrong way on Sunday. I was too tired by then and didn't remember to go elbows out and make them yield. Normally I would let them know that they're going the wrong way, but now with an official sign, hopefully that won't be necessary.

    It'll still be necessary.

Thanks! I rode down it. I thought about riding back up it, but the rocky slabs above seemed a bit too sketchy for me to climb.

I'm generally more confident climbing than descending.  It's a bit sketchy going down, and I haven't ridden it in a while.  Not since I discovered the trail that sits above Gnargasm and heads back to Snow White--so I almost always ride that now after I complete Gnagasm, then drop back down to the bridge and ride that trail opposite Champion Park before heading over the dam.  Your photos make me want to try riding up it, though!

  6. It's going to happen, it's near impossible to stop them from sometimes getting through.  Just report them and I'll take care of them as soon as I see the reports (or I see the bots myself).  I do have third-party software installed that catches most of the bots, but it's never going to catch 100% of them.  Unfortunately I was gone for a while today and wasn't able to nuke that particular bot and delete their posts until now.

I always wondered if there should be an apostrophe before the 's' in "Peddlers" to make it possessive.  It's easy to add one but probably a pain to remove it.

I've always written it as "Peddler's Pass", but I have no idea what is actually correct.  I'm sure I'm about to learn!

Thanks. The signs are going to look so good. Hopefully, I'll have the "Test Mule" finished today and I can post some pictures. I've been trying different techniques for painting the letters, the picture doesn't do it justice

Very cool!  How many of these posts will be out there?

Just an FYI, literally right above the big waterfall is where the county property line ends, despite where the fence is. I know it looks like the county property goes much further than the existing trail, but to the east and south, we are already pretty much on the boundary. The west we have some wiggle room, however, the superintendent wanted it closed to "protect artifacts". I would like to challenge this with the new parks director. The digging has continued since it was closed an fenced.

We (Josh, me, and ARR) are going to try to get access back to the old trail (with modification) that goes up and around the ditch and comes down directly across from the existing line at the bottom of the ditch - bringing back the loop. Wilco has a new Parks director, he's a MTBer, so we are going to pitch a few plans to get some trail back as well as introduce some new trail as well.

    No promises, wish us luck.

This sounds great, would love to see that trail make a return!  Good luck!

Unrelated to the event, but do you guys ride Dave’s ditch through the flowing water? A few days ago I rode down the first drop through the water and I thought I was going to die. Went perfectly straight and my bike was still going all over the place. Decided to hike back up and attempt it again another day when it’s a bit more dry.

Nope, if that first drop is wet, I turn my ass right back around.  I tried scrambling down it once when it was wet, and that resulted in an uncontrolled slide on my ass, after which my ass was soaked in the muck accumulating on that drop.
