  1. OK tubeless experts, I'm thinking I need a sealant refresh, since it's now been about 4 months. I've had zero flats, nor any leaks I'm aware of, other than needing to add a few psi every week or two. For refreshing Orange Sealant Endurance, just put same amount as originally? At what point would you dismount tires to clean out old sealant? Once a year? I've not had issue, but have noticed some occasional stickiness to presta valves. Is there an easy way to 'ream' the valve? Use any thin wire that'll fit to clean before adding sealant?

I've held off on making an announcement on this because we are essentially still in a beta format.  However, this thread and topic seems on point, therefore I figured it might prove useful to some of you who are contemplating custom builds and want to play around a bit.  I've been working for this company for the past few years and we recently brought on @Teamsloan to help us move things fwd.  You can create a profile and then save build lists, set pricing searches for specific parts, and share your builds with others.  Later on I may give it its own thread, but for now feel free to jump in and you can give feedback in our forums.

Exactly why I cant ride there anymore

I make sure to spray arms/legs liberally with sunblock before riding there. It adds a bit of a barrier, thus giving me more time to get it washed off (cool rinse, wash arms/legs with DAWN dish soap, then shower as normal with soap and washrag.) Works pretty well, as I am very allergic to it (started when I was 9 and had near 100% body coverage with the rash. Oatmeal baths for a couple weeks.)

I used to ride with a buddy in Wimberley and we liked stashing thermoses of coffee or other treats without telling the other one.  Then in the middle of the ride we would ride up on the coffee or whatever.  Hot drinks were usually on bitter, cold-weather days.  It made a good ride better.

Now just need to stuff a cooler in some shrubs. Say you gotta stop for a nature break, then pull a couple cold ones from the bushes.

I'll add my injury report from over the weekend. I did a steady roadie ride on my mtb on Saturday morning and ended it at Walnut where I joined a friend I hadn't seen in a while and who hadn't ridden Walnut. I was crossing the creek at the main crossing and didn't realize it was a slippery as it was. Bike started going out from under me so I stuck my right foot out which promptly also started sliding out, badda bing badda boom, I go down on this side with my knee and foot going in incompatible directions. Knee is swelling. Difficult to fully extend (even before the swelling). Self diagnosis sounds like a mild torn meniscus.

How the heck do I start with real diagnosis??? Does one start with a general practitioner or skip straight to an ortho? I know this depends on my insurance but wondering what the generally advisable path is.

I'd check for an ortho/sports doc in your insurance network, then make appt with them.

probably cheaper and accomplishes the task with less of an erectile issue. The LD is something of a classic design from the old Charlie Cunningham days, though, and I find it to be an elegant solution.

CHEAP was the overriding factor, here. Didn't even know if I could get all this to play nicely. Thx to JRA for rear wheel and some minor tweaking, as well as observing chain was much too short (a stopgap at best, as I had yet to order new chain/chainring, and the borrowed bits from the 575 were just barely cutting it.) I won't spend anymore for THIS build, as it will only be used sparingly. If I get a smaller frame someday, I'll put more into it then.

What on Earth is happening here? Lemme know if you want help taping a handlebar. I can't stand knowing that this exists in the world.

🙂 I'll have to post the TAPE job next. Take video of your skin jumping off... 😛

Also, 'amateur' implies at least a modicum of previous experience. This being the first time I've attempted such a thing,  I watched a youtube video by Park tool, then wrapped the bars. I still need to wrap my actual road bike bars as well, so I'll apply lessons learned there.

Ummm, I guess that would be good for some people. I have no use for them that I can think of.

What if they had forward-looking sensors that could detect tree gates? Stay wide until it senses trees, then slams inward so you can keep riding through? Yeah, technology, baby! 0.o

I made a few attempts at putting dirt drops on mountain bikes and I could never make the fit work. Drop bars add a lot of reach and reduce the stack on a bike, so a bike that fits you with a flat bar is usually going to feel enormous with a flat bar. Getting the hooks in a position you can reach comfortably usually means a bike with a tall head tube or a very uprights stem. Kudos if you can make it work without too much drama.

Well, sadly, this Haro Mary SS has been a bit large since I bought it. Added a much shorter stem to bring original bars back a bit. With these drop bars, man am I strung way out front, even with a shorty stem.  Might consider turning the damn thing around backwards even.  Does work, though. Needed to lower seat a bit and tilt bars up a tad. Also need to tweak brakes a bit more. Got to bottom of powerline and over-ran first berm 'cause I couldn't slow enough. Made sure to keep speed in check after that. Upper log loop was pretty fun, though.

They do OK on the trails?  Put some On One Midge bars on the roadie and like them.  Currently evaluating gravel bars for my Hard Tail.

Dunno yet. Just finished wrapping bar yesterday. Haven't ridden but parking lot here at home. Still need some minor tweaks, but might try Walnut later today, since it missed the downpour over Brushy.
