Yeah, that's more about the people than the bike. Just like some of the racerbois and Stravassholes who think a public trail is their private track. They'll be that way regardless of what they are riding.

    So much this ∆

My opinion has changed so much on ebikes over the last year. But, I've also been hitting trails with a lot of elevation that aren't located in TX.

Either way I could do just as much, if not more harm to a fellow rider crashing into them at top speed on a DH run on a regular bike as an ebike. Particularly if I'm on a DH rig that can carry a lot of speed.

I never seen an ebiker rear end a slower rider on a regular bike while on a climb.

@Jessica is a strong rider, but being an XX she is naturally disadvantaged as compared to an XY like myself. I love our rides together, but it would also be an interesting option to have he try an assist bike. She's adamant that she doesn't want one until she's infirm in some way, but maybe I can talk her into demoing one some time in the land of e-bikes that is B'ville.

    Exactly this^

It was crystal clear in Quebec that putting the wife on an ebike would've been a great idea. Everything is pay to ride there and spending the majority of the day coaxing her up the steep climbs to the top was a bad experience for both of us. When she can do more laps with less misery it means more fun for me. I can totally understand her frustration as Ive ridden with much fitter riders, and was the anchor they were dragging. The only way I was able to even things out was when the trail pointed down, which was few and far between in tejas.

We're planning to put her on a demo ebike soon.

Eminent Cycles had a demo tent at Spider last Saturday. I'm not usually one to demo bikes, but I had never ridden a high-pivot bike before so I handed over my ID and credit card and - 30 minutes later - off I went. I took the Haste (170/160mm) for 3 runs down the hill and while it was a nice bike, it certainly didn't make me want to "upgrade" from my Ripmo AF. I'm sure you could chalk some of it up to familiarity, but I just think my current rig felt better in that environment. I'm sure Spider isn't necessarily the best place to experience all the benefits of the high pivot, so maybe I'd feel differently if I was able to ride it somewhere else. I also thought the spec on the bike was pretty unimpressive for a $7000 bike.

Can confirm that spider, as cool as it is, doesn't get fast or rough enough for a big travel high pivot to shine. I had more fun there on my 100mm trailbike than my 180mm high pivot. I would also never buy a high pivot for CTX.
