  1. It's true, Peddlers is dry. First time in a few months.
  2. Better get out there and ride today or tomorrow. Based on the forecast, it might be the last chance for February. I rode today, the rocks are still slick but it's rideable. I asked the City if they could leave me a pile of any excess dirt from the sidewalk construction. I hope this is it..it's hhhuuugggeee
  3. Wow, I worked on them yesterday. I'm amazed they filled up with so little rain. It just shows the water table does not want to recede. If we were getting a normal amount of rain over the last 5 months the rollers wouldn't be a problem.
  4. I adjusted the second set of rollers. I can't wait to try them out in June when it stops raining.
  5. A chance of rain in the forecast every day for the next 10days. WTF is going on.
  6. PEDDLERS PASS UPDATE: Please help me, pretty please with sugar on top. As everyone knows the rollers and some of the berms on the Eastside of Parmer fill up with water after rain. There is a bucket in the trees next to the 1st roller on the second set of rollers. If the rollers or berms have water in them, please take a few minutes and bail them out. Everything will dry out much quicker with everyone's help. Soon as it stops raining every few days, the water table should recede low enough that the rollers will be able to handle the occasional rain without a problem. In the near future, I'm going to be adjusting the second set of rollers. They are too steep and the valleys are too short. I'll be lengthening the valleys and possibly reducing the height a few inchesThis should make them flow as nicely as the 1st set. Look for a work day in mid to late February. We'll be adding features on the new stuff. The skinny triangle bridge is going to be replaced with a wider, longer, curved bridge in the coming months. The temporary reroutes for the sidewalk are in place. This should last for 4-6 weeks.
  7. Peddlers Pass temporary reroutes have been done for the construction of the sidewalk leading from the intersection of Parmer and Brushy Creek road to the BCRT. Once construction has finished the trail will go back to its previous route...almost. The trail will lose about 50' due to the sidewalk. After the cedar triangle feature, the trail currently turns left, in the future, it will turn right. The City adjusted the sidewalk to take out as little of the trail as possible.
  8. It should be fine. I'm meeting the Parks Director out there this afternoon to discuss the trail reroutes.
  9. In the next few weeks , the City will be starting construction on a sidewalk from the intersection of Parmer and Brushy Creek road down to the BCRT. The sidewalk walk will bisect the Peddlers Pass, but reroutes are planned for when it's finished. During construction, mountain bikes will not be allowed to cross over the construction area. I will be taping off the area. This means the trail will temporarily become two separate trails. Use the BCRT to travel between the two sections. Please respect the temporary closure and don’t cross the limits of construction. The yellow line in the picture is the approximate location of the sidewalk.
  10. The new section is actually completely dry, go ride it.
  11. I checked Peddlers. Its still to wet to ride.
  12. Looks like this guy didn't think Peddlers was too muddy today, he did 2 laps. https://www.strava.com/activities/2087862166
  13. Yes, this has happened in the last few weeks.
  14. I love trail widening. The blue line is the approximate width of a section on Peddlers. Look how much more has to be fixed because people suck.
  15. Guess what, its been drizzling most of the morning at Brushy
  16. All of the trails still have parts that are sloppy messes.
  17. Peddlers Pass 3.0 is alive. find it on Strava under "BCB - Peddlers Pass 3.0". The loop is now 2.7 miles long. The new stuff is fast and has some elements not found on the rest of the trail. I'm going to give it about a month for people to burn it in then I'll be adding improvements when I have time. ...and as always, don't ride F!@# wet trails.
  18. Last time i saw the crushed granite replaced it was Cedar Park working on it.
  19. I agree, I don't think I've ever seen the county maintaining the BCRT. I do see Cedar Park staff doing maintenance all the time on their portion of the BCRT
  20. I'm going to ask the city if I can place a chain across the entrance to Peddlers Pass when the trail is too muddy to ride with a sign hanging from it stating the trail is closed due to muddy conditions.
  21. I've found an effective way of stopping some riders on muddy trails is by looking at the Strava Flybys to see who has ridden, then send them add a nice comment on their ride asking them to not ride muddy trails etc. Then I ask them to check the Brushy Creek Twitter feed before they go and ride. I've had mostly good responses so far. You'd be very surprised at some of the people you see on Strava riding muddy trails, many of them know better.
  22. Peddlers Pass has a new ending. Today we finished an additional 0.75 miles and added it to the trail. The new part is close to the finish just after you cross the creek/rock garden. It's still going to be rough in parts until it gets burned in.
  23. We can't ride, so let's do some building this morning. We're making the final push to open the next 0.7 miles of Peddlers Pass this morning. There are already 4 people committed, more would mean we could start to add some fun stuff. We are at meeting at the entrance to Peddlers Pass at 9:30am.
