So who’s building a Redbull Hardline drop on Snail? Looks legit and something I’m not willing to hit. Looks like a 10-20ft drop at least. My legs were shaking as I stood near the ledge.

The one the ends in a jump into the wall ride section?  Looks wierd, hit it timidly if that is the one

Mostly riding the cushy 27.5 long-travel Remedy these days. Been sessioning those jump lines behind Peddlers and behind Christ Church. It's amazing to me how much strength and energy is required to keep the necessary pace to clear a series of jumps. Fools on YouTube make it look so damn easy!

When are we riding?  It would be cool to get a tour if that new area from you

  3. To be honest I rode walnut muddy many times 5 years ago and I had no idea I was messing up the trail. I just met two other bikers that didn’t know either at brushy. “Isn’t mud part of mountain biking?” they understood when I explained.  I think many just don’t know about the potential damage

  4. I had a neck/shoulder operation from a tumor removal 5 years ago and it has taken me many years to feel strength again and full movement on my shoulder and trapezius on my right hand. Even a jacket feels heavy for me. I have been patient and stretch as much as I can remember. I think biking has been the best motivation

So I laid off for another month after aggravating my injury and finally took a short 1-hr ride yesterday. Ended up pedaling out of the saddle for most of the ride due to the discomfort from sitting. Saw the doc today and he said that he is not surprised by that at all given the anatomical changes around my sit bone from the surgical repair. Where there used to be a clean tendon attachment, there is now a mass of scar tissue. I'm considering trying an Ergon Comfort saddle with the gel inserts. Anybody here who has tried one of those or who has sought out alternatives due to sit-bone pain? While my pain is a direct result of having my hamstring tendon surgically reattached, I understand that there are others who suffer from chronic tendonitis is that same area.

At 6 months post-op my options seem to be 1) settle for short rides, 2) try comfort-oriented saddle, 3) get a season pass at Spider and switch over to full-time free riding / dirt jumping, or 4) sell my bikes and get a OneWheel.

I vote for 3 and I will go with you. Sounds like fun

  6. I am ok with drops but did it too fast once and almost ended in the creek 😂. My wife also went otb there once but she tried to follow my line after being warned so it was all on her.  I do think it is a little dangerous compared to the rest of the loop. I am glad it can be kept amd made safer

I commend this type of thinking and @TheX's decision to go full-face. Like TheX, I am 60 and feel like I may need to make adjustments in order to preserve as much riding time over the next 10-15 years as possible. My problem is that I didn't start riding until 53yrs old and have progressed significantly year-over-year in terms of my riding skills. I feel like I could continue to progress - do bigger drops and bigger jumps, go faster down steep terrain, etc. Being sidelined with a serious injury now though I'm having to rethink these things. Don't be surprised if my new long-travel bike ends up on the Bikes for Sale thread at some point during my recovery (may even throw in my once-used FF helmet).

Don't like to hear this, I know you have the skill

already to do all the drops at brushy and I know you would love it.   Waiting for you to recover. I have morning riding time again
