TheX
So...Shimano has a new group set for 2020 that is mostly gravel specific, but can also be used to convert some MTB bikes to drop bars. The GRX system! I've been looking at ways to convert my Kona Jake to drop bars, without having to change much else. Unfortunately the GRX is available in 2x11 and 1x11 only so it would take changing quite a few components...and of course, it would be cheaper to buy a new bike. Anyway, I'm seriously considering diving into this new group set. They even offer a left side lever with dropper post integration. Anyone else looking at this? https://bike.shimano.com/en-US/information/news/shimano-introduces-world-s-first-dedicated-gravel-component-seri.html
TheX
They do offer a 2x10 setup for the more budget minded, which may let me keep the rear mech I have now, and the brakes. More information with prices. https://bikepacking.com/news/shimano-grx/ Edited September 2, 2019 by TheX
