ATXZJ
Pulled the X1 drivetrain off my long travel bike and installed it on my wife's rig in the spring. Huge upgrade for her but it left the other bike DOA. Decided I'd go back to shimano since this bike was most likely to be found tumbling down a mountainside, and Sram is expensive to replace. At the same time needed to go back to a round chainring as ovals do not play well with high pivot bikes. Had a 32t oval and decided on a 34t round, swapped 11spd 11-46 to 11-50 in the back and a 12spd XT derailleur, since the long cage can compensate to the 25mm of rearward axle path. All that was left was to buy an 11spd shifter which i thought would be easy. Then I watched a lovemtb channel on youtube discussing XTR drivetrains and how you can select the shifter between 11 & 12 spds and that put me deep down the rabbit hole. Was already running 12spd derailleur and chains so this option seemed future proof. After buying four freaking shifters, I finally found the correct XTR model and got everything set up on the bike. Really liking the shift action on the new shimano 12spd stuff and glad I chose it over the GX eagle I was considering.
